[DEV] I wanted to play a real-world exploration game but couldn’t find any - so I started building my own. After 3 years, I’m really excited to share it with you guys!

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 07:20 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

After spending the past few years traveling a lot (with the obvious exception of 2020), I started thinking about how exploring the world was really similar to questing and playing an RPG, except instead of a game world, you're exploring the real world. A huge part of games is discovering more places and characters, improving yourself, and seeing your progress - which is basically what traveling is IRL.

After looking around, I was surprised that there weren't any real exploration games available, so I knew that if I wanted to play one, I would have to make my own.

So I spent the last 3 years creating Zonder, a mobile exploration game where you can collect places that you visit like restaurants, museums, parks, beaches and much more. We're using a location database with over 100M locations in 150 countries. You can earn XP and level up in 8 different categories of places (like Nature, Food, Culture, etc.), whether you're visiting something as small as a corner bakery or as famous as the Eiffel Tower. And we've also added a multiplayer component to Zonder, so you can see where your friends have explored and vice versa! Now your friends can finally see your travel accomplishments:

    • How many countries or cities have you been to?
    • Do you have more experience with different restaurants than they do?
    • How many of the world's biggest landmarks have you visited?

Now that the pandemic is (fingers crossed) over, I'm really excited to introduce Zonder to everyone, and see if we can make exploring a lot more fun for everyone. Our goal is to build Zonder together with passionate travelers and gamers - so let me know what you think and how we can make the best game for you guys!

    Check out the app here:

[DEV] Text-based Farm RPG game I'm working on

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 09:37 AM PDT

Hey all, I'm the creator of Titan Conquest (another text game) and about a month ago I launched Farm RPG. It's just about to hit 10,000 registered so I wanted to share it here.

Farm RPG is a simple, text-based, mobile-friendly farming RPG / MMO game where you start a farm, plant crops, fish, craft and explore. It's a very chill, easy going game!

    Features:
    - No limit to playing, farm all day if you want!
    - Mostly text-based to reduce data usage and plays fast
    - No ads or annoying popups
    - Exploring takes stamina, but refills pretty fast
    - Solid community of friendly gamers
    - Dark mode

    Android link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firestream.farmrpg

Also available on iOS and PC

    Need help finding a game!

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 10:10 PM PDT

I don't remember the title of the game but it was on my pc something like 8-10 years ago. Basically, it was a life simulator/management game where you start with some villagers on an island and then you had to tell them to do fishing/cooking etc. You could also like mate them and have a child to increase population of the village. It was offline progression where if I come back after long time the people would starved to death or whatsoever.

I don't know if it's on android but if anyone remembers it, please help me find it. Thanks

    Looking for games

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:04 PM PDT

Hi, Looking for Android games with a world to explore with friends.

We played The Ants and the community there is very toxic. I'm looking for a peaceful game, with tasks and things to do, that I can play with friends or the community.

Something peaceful, maybe open world like Sky.

    Any idea?

[Dev] Giving out codes for my puzzle platformer HUE Trials - Bacteria Adventure

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 05:52 AM PDT

Ask in a Comment or DM and I'll send you a code.

    GAME LINK: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.verilyfine.huetrials

The game is free, but I have most of the Adventure mode levels beyond a paywall you can conquer with this code. If the game seems simple at first, JUST WAIT until you run into some more colors. But if you really just want to experiment with the mechanics you can play with them in the Level Creator.

I kept the story very simple to let people play at any pace, so don't go in expecting to weep over this bacteria lol. The Adventure mode can have a lot of puzzles sometimes, so if you care mostly about the platforming aspect, try the Infinity mode which is 100% Platforming.

Feedback is greatly appreciated. I really hope you guys have fun.

Gamesir x-2 joystick problem on 2 devices?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:34 PM PDT

I returned the first one because I thought it was hardware, but after awhile of use the right joystick doesn't go as far left as it does right causing me to not be able to look to the left as quickly as the right.

I saw a video of someone using the app to calibrate the joystick on another gamesir controller, but mine doesn't have any option. I completely wiped it and reinstalled firmware (i don't remember how) and it fixed the issue for a couple hours.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Iphone user - but interested in android. Should I get a tablet?

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 08:57 PM PDT

So, I've been invested in apple architecture for my phone for a decade but I'm interested in android stuff. Always felt like I've been missing out. I love handheld gaming so it would be perfect for me. But I also want to access all the sort of general mobile apps. Would it be best for me to get a tablet? If so, does anyone have any recommendations of powerful tablets? Thanks so much.

Can someone please help me find this game..

    Posted: 18 Jun 2021 11:48 PM PDT

I used to play a strategy/kingdom game some years ago. It was kinda like clash of clans. This game had global chat, clan chat and personal chat. I can name some of its defence like fireball tower and lighting tower, at the time when I played it the max town hall was level 13. I only remember 1 hero a dude with a green staff who has healing powers. Oho.. and this game has 1x1 water patches as defence, like you could arrange them in a row so ground units couldn't cross it. These are all of it's features I remember, can someone please help me find the name of this game..?

Very contentious question: but that's the best 'pay to win' 4x game on android?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2021 06:40 AM PDT

Hi, I realize this is a very contentious question but hear me out. I played the Warhammer '4x' game and ended up spending 500 dollars and being #1 alliance on the server (#5) at the time. The problem was it was a full time job: coordinating the discord, constantly attacking, running each events, getting people to collaborate and spend just as much, etc. It became a job I paid for. The money wasn't a problem - the community and the feeling of 'having to drag people along' was.

I then tried a few more games, with similar results, but worse communities. Truely toxic ones in fact, so I quit (because 99% of the games is the social aspect).

Finally, I found one that didn't completely suck: Cybercode online. No matter how much you spend, all the money goes towards SERVER-wide accelerations, which can be stacked with other server-wide bonuses. There isn't a single individual bonus in the entire game, leading to a great, friendly, welcoming community. No one fights over anything, and there isn't a 'ruling class' - just some people with more money IRL that essentially donate to the rest of the server.

But CO is not without its flaw. Very basic gfx, repetitive gameplay, ultimately it's a chat simulator. So, here's my question: What's YOUR 'p2w' or 'p2p' game and why?

    Thank you.
