Will installing an APK and then turning off Unknown Sources result to APK disabling? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:32 AM PST If I were to install an APK and then wanted to disabled Unknown Sources again to prevent accidental/malicious APK installations, will this interfere with the existing APK installed on the device? Do I need to keep Unknown Sources enabled forever, if I plan to use an APK forever or I can install it and then go ahead and disable the option until I need it again for another APK? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:10 AM PST I'm not an android developer but I do know programming (C++, Python, into Linux stuff). I want to know how modding an apk works when the apps are not open source. Eg YouTube Vanced. YouTube is certainly not open source but YouTube Vanced exists, have extra features than the OG app, blocks ad, etc, etc... Or modded version of WhatsApp (WhatsApp OG, Gold, etc)... Edit: spelling [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth: Message access Advanced Feature Supported. Huh? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:56 AM PST Every time I connect to my car bluetooth, I get this notification. Image. It sounds like it has to do with text messages, but I have no idea what this means or how to make it stop popping up. I've tried re-pairing like it says. Phone: OnePlus 6T OS: OxygenOS 10.3.7, Android 10 Texting app: Textra Carrier: T-mobile Car: Tesla Model Y [link] [comments] |
Setting any image as a desktop wallpaper makes it slightly blurry on Samsung tablet. Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:35 AM PST I have a Samsung galaxy tab A7 running Android 10 with a 2000x1200 pixel display. If I try to set any image I download online as the wallpaper and/or lock screen it becomes slightly blurry. For example one of the test images I am using is 5728x4013 and when I view it as a file in the files app it appears perfect, but as soon as I set it to be the desktop background it goes slightly blurry. Therefore the problem has nothing to do with the display quality itself or the image being too small. I just spent almost 3 hours with Samsung phone support and the only thing they could think of after going through every troubleshooting step they knew to try was to send it in for repair. But what would they repair? it's not a hardware issue. Is this a known software bug? or am I super unlucky or what? I read about a bug with the Ubuntu OS that shares similar characteristics to what I'm experiencing here: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2020/01/its-not-your-eyes-its-a-bug-why-hq-desktop-backgrounds-look-blurry-on-ubuntu I should note the wallpaper images I am using were direct online downloads via google search. I'm not using any 3rd party app anywhere in the process. Should I just return the tablet to get my money back or is there any hope? [link] [comments] |

[Android 10] How do I disable heads up/peek/pop notifications?? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:05 AM PST I wanna use another app that change the heads-up design, basically how to system heads-up, I have root, tried bunch of methods and it didn't work (prefer root methods since its more efficient and uses less ram and battery other than non-root methods) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:03 AM PST Hello all! so I have appeared to lock myself out of my Samsung Samsung note 9. I have tried every passcode combination, and because I don't have access to my Gmail account cause I use my phone I am essentially locked out of my email as well. Yeah I have been to several different places and no one seems to really know, does anyone here have any advice or suggestions on how I can sign in? Any advice and help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much and advance. [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to boot from a USB on android? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:15 AM PST This is probably the wrong subreddit so, sorry. But we are really desperate here. My friend reached out to me last week asking if there was a way to install a Linux distro on his android netbook, due to it being old af and running Android 4.4. So we did some research, found some Linux distros and he ended up choosing Debian, his cpu is ARM 32 bit so it was a little tricky to find an ISO for it and all of that, but now we are stuck, we have the usb drive ready, but we have no idea how to, or if it is even possible to boot the device into that USB to install the OS. Thanks in advance for any replies. The netbook specs are: Model - Positivo SX1000 CPU - ARM Cortex A9 Dual Core RAM - 2Gb Storage - 16Gb flash. Before you ask why TF he are doing this, it's because it is the only "computer" he has, and he needs it for work, an android is not gonna do it for him. [link] [comments] |

Screen colour profile changing automatically at same time every day. Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:41 AM PST Everyday at 16:50 my screen changes its colour profile to what looks like blue light filter mode. I do not want this to happen. Blue light filter is not on. Dark mode is not on, nor is scheduled to come on. Adaptive colour filters are not on or scheduled either. Adaptive brightness is not on. I have no digital wellbeing routines enabled. Colour adjustment and colour filters are turned off. I cannot find any more settings that could be causing this. 16:50 is not the time of sunset in my location, and it has been the exact same time for several days in a row. This is reproducible for me by manually setting the time to 16:49 and then to 16:51, which causes the blue light filter effect. It is a Samsung S20+ on Android 11 and fully up to date. Can anyone provide some guidance as to why this might be happening? [link] [comments] |

Android 10 not recognizing DSLR Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:11 AM PST I have a samsung running android 10, and it won't recognize my dslr when i plug it in with a USB + OTG cable, back when i had an android 9 phone it worked. The moment i would turn the camera on the pictures would pop up, now they don't. My previous android 10 phone didn't work either and i saw an article which said it doesn't work with android 10 so that's where i'm coming from but i'm not sure. Also i tried the settings in developer options but nothing happened. Any solutions? [link] [comments] |
Is 48.nbryb.com an actual virus or just a site that sends notifications through chrome? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 02:21 AM PST So I had a problem with this site (nbryb.com) sending a bunch of notifications about 'dangerous' viruses to my mom's phone and I searched on reddit for a solution to my problem, I found a thread and I tried all the solutions that the original poster gave but what ended up working was just turning off the notifications for that site in chrome (chrome settings> notifications), but I don't know if it was just a site sending annoying notifications or it was an actual virus and it still is on my mom's phone, if you know anything I don't about this virus please comment on this post. I posted this here because I could not reply to the old thread anymore which you can find here [link] [comments] |
Screen Shakes and randomly touches stuff when plugged in charging... Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:38 AM PST I have a xiaomi redmi note 7 for the past 1 year and its working fine. But now when i plug it in for charging the screen starts shaking and opens apps randomly. i am guessing it is because of non authentic usb cable but i am using the not original charger for past 9 months but the issue started 2 days ago. I plugged it in for a fast charger once and it is happening since then if that can be a connection to the issue. Please, any tip will be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:36 AM PST I'm using a very old lenovo a1000g tablet for reading purposes. Due to issues, I am trying to hard reset it but the reset is not working. I.e. I am able to reset but the data get's restored back to normal. So far I have tried:
All three have been working but the damn data just doesn't wipe off. I get a message in the boot saying all data wiped but after it when I reboot it, it takes me back to the same old screen and icons and no hard reset actually happened. I am not manually able to delete or add files to the internal storage too How do I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Samsung A50 Camera App Crashing Posted: 28 Dec 2020 04:52 PM PST I have a Galaxy A50 all patched and in good shape. I would like to use my bluetooth shutter trigger to snap some pics of the birds, but I'm running into a problem; the camera app closes out (no error) at random increments. It's usually within 60 seconds. Performed a hard reset. Problem persists with only base software installed (and patched). Added my stuff back one by one (study apps, social media, etc) and no change. Happens indoors or out. It's currently winter in Michigan, so I can't imagine it's overheating outdoors. No other apps open. Bluetooth doesn't even have to be on for it to crash, so not related to the trigger. Suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:22 AM PST My phone started showing a Android system notification saying " Charging connected device via USB". This directs me to a USB preference options that seems to be a dead end. I can't get rid of the notification, its always there. Annoying, but the main issue is that my phone will only charge when it is off. If I insert the cable when it's on there is no reaction. I assume theses 2 things are related Also when I start my phone from the 'power off charging' mode, the battery icon continues to display the Charing symbol even when the cable as been disconnected, and the battery percentage is decreasing. Odd. Obviously only being able to charge the phone when it is off sucks. How can I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2020 03:59 AM PST Hi everyone! I'm having a really weird issue on my phone right now, and I can't figure out what's causing it. So any kind of help would be greatly appreciated :D Basically my issue is network related, I can't open any e-mail, because it just keeps loading forever, I can't open any YouTube link that anyone sends me, I can't use the Steam App because nothing loads, when I try to use the Xbox Game Pass App, most of the features don't load just like Steam, and some of the links that I get sent also don't load at all. This is a really weird issue that I haven't ever seen before, and couldn't find anything about it online, this especially bugs me because I find myself always having to go on my computer to check my e-mails and stuff, when I could just be doing it on my phone. Thanks for the help! [link] [comments] |
Infinix Fingerprint/Side button problem. Posted: 29 Dec 2020 02:47 AM PST I have been using my infinix note 7 for a while now. It's good but the only problem I have is the fingerprint scanner on the side. When watching youtube videos whenever I touch the side button (not press) the youtube display option keeps appearing and it's annoying. I don't know if it's a bug, but it's really annoying. Ringtone problem and I'm starting to lose faith Posted: 28 Dec 2020 10:01 PM PST Hello all. So long story short I upgraded from the humble Note 4 to Note 10 plus and I'm starting to lose my patience and faith. I'm having problems with my ringtone volume. Everytime I get a call, the phone rings once then goes silent. Same when it's in my pocket. A week ago I disabled some accidental protection but still nothing. I can't find a setting to solve the problem either. What am I doing wrong? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
