Restoring a Titanium backup without root Posted: 24 May 2021 08:56 AM PDT I was looking at doing a complete backup. (I already have a backup but not like a 'full' one that I can do whilst rooted.) However I'm not sure if it is worth my time, as I have my phone numbers, pictures, passwords, 2FA keys etc, already backed up. If I were to unfortunately completely break my phone, to the point that I have to use another one for a while. If I have to borrow a phone (Money can't always be just on the hip to buy a new phone) I can't exactly root a phone that I'm only borrowing, does this mean that I can't recover my backup until I have a rooted device? Or do I lose part of the backup? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 May 2021 06:29 AM PDT Hoping someone can help me with this, as I've searched the internet, forums, reddit, etc and have yet to find a workable solution. On the Gmail app, I keep getting multiple notifications for the same new message; not the pop up/label, but the notification sounds. I look, and it's the same email. My searches seem to make me believe it's an issue with labels; however all the examples I've seen there say to turn the notification off for the label, but when I do that, it turns all notifications off. At this point, I'm so frustrated and would appreciate any help so I don't feel like ripping my hair out every time I hear the notification sound! [link] [comments] |
What is the best way of dual-booting Android on a windows 2-in-1 tablet? (and a related question) Posted: 24 May 2021 07:52 AM PDT I recently got myself an Alldocube KNote X Pro 13.3" that I intend to use as a very fancy ebook reader for tabletop RPG books, and I was wondering if I would be able to do a good dual-boot with Android, so I can use the Windows boot as a spare laptop and the Android boot for ebook purposes to keep the two separate and for ease of use. For the related questions, would an android OS install be able to use the SD card slot and other ports the tablet has? It would be nice if I could just do a 32 GB partition for the Android OS and keep everything like music and books in external storage. [link] [comments] |
My voice-to-text has gotten dumber. How do I fix? Posted: 24 May 2021 11:39 AM PDT Used to be voice-to-text was pretty good. Anything unclear would show up as underlined and if I tapped it, I'd get alternate suggestions I could chose from. I never changed any settings but now it's making a lot of mistakes in the speech interpretation and no longer gives me the underlined option to correct anything. I'm using 8.0 on a Galaxy S7 with the stock Samsung keyboard. [link] [comments] |
How to backup my 'Contacts' & 'Text Messages logs' folders, if native backup doesn't work? Posted: 24 May 2021 11:03 AM PDT tl;dr -- How would you backup your Contacts & Texts (and, ideally, your settings) if your native Backup utility isn't working? (I'd disabled most G+ stuff, which is why, but I've re-synced my G+ stuff and still can't get my phone to sync/backup to my computer, even though I'm getting my emails to my phone!) I stripped a lot of stuff off my phone using Developer Mode, now am needing to put google-syncing back on (so I can backup my numbers/contacts, at least, and ideally my text-logs), I didn't care about this before but in past month it has come to matter incredibly and if my phone were lost right now I would take a massive hurt (business/financially) from lost info, but no way I can keep-up with pen&paper backups.. Need to backup the handset somehow and Hard Reset it so the native/OEM backup utility works...but cannot do so until I know I'm backing-up my Contacts & Texts before doing this (losing them is losing a ton of new clients!), I thought I was successful in simply rolling-back the changes I'd made, Google was/is sync'd up to my handset and delivering gmail and offering the whole G+ suite once again, but the native Backup utility is via Google and it still doesn't work, just perpetually at Thanks a ton for any help, I know a hard-reset will re-enable everything, I mean I know the ADB debugging removals I did only removed 'user-side' stuff anyways, but I can't "go back to Factory" until I know I've successfully copied my Contacts & Texts and I've got it tethered now, am in /Android/Data and would expect some Contacts folder here but there's none :/ [link] [comments] |
Samsung telephoto lens not working correctly Posted: 24 May 2021 11:00 AM PDT So, ı have a samsung galaxy A9 2018 and when ı try zooming in, it just zooms in using digital zoom instead of the telephoto camera which looks horrible. The telephoto camera also used to kick in really late, like ı would zoom in and ı would have to wait something like 5-8 seconds for it to switch to telephoto. Is this an issue with my spesific device or is it a known problem with the A9 or something else? Also if there is a solution, ı would appriciate it if you shared it! Finally, ı apologise if this was the wrong place to ask! [link] [comments] |
Need an alternative way of typing/keyboard because of a touchscreen issue Posted: 24 May 2021 08:37 AM PDT Hi everyone, after some substantial water damage and extensive drying I got my 3.5 year old Oneplus 5T to work again. Everything went smoothly for a day or two, now however the touchscreen starts to show some issues. Specifically I can't type the letters r, f and x (and the emoji search on gboard). I copy and paste them or turn the screen to landscape mode if possible as a workaround. I tried to alter the size of the keys in the gboard settings but the issue remains. I wondered if some of you ever encountered a similar problem or have a creative idea or alternative keyboard which might help me. I also encounter the occasional ghost touch which is not that big of a deal to me. Additional info: Oxygen OS 5.1.4 on a rooted Android 8.1.0 Thanks a lot in advance for any help or advice! Does Android 11 turn off WiFi automatically? Posted: 24 May 2021 12:00 PM PDT I notice in my new Samsung phone even if i keep my wifi turned on for a long period of time while the screen is off, it doesn't use much battery. [link] [comments] |
Is there an App or possibility to mark streets I've already visited? Posted: 24 May 2021 04:14 AM PDT Hey, it might be an odd question, but I just moved to a new, huge city and would like to explore it - extensively. If possible I want to get to know almost every relevant street, which google Maps helps me with. It would greatly help me, however, if there would be an app or a tracking option that marks the streets or places I've already been to in order for me to know where I've already been. Is there a thing like that for my Mi 9 Lite? I even thought about just screenshoting the street when I'm at home in order to keep track of them, but that would be one hell of a workout in the longterm. Your help is appreciated! Posted: 24 May 2021 09:37 AM PDT The phone says "odin mode (avb fail)" and the regular blue downloading screen. When I try the suggested volume down key + power key for 7+ seconds the device attempts to reboot and just comes straight back to the same screen. It happened when I tried to update it and the update failed around 37%. I can't quite figure out how to get out of this screen and get the phone back to normal. I'm ok with a clean wipe of the phone and wouldn't mind rooting it but I am inexperienced. I even tried to take it to get repaired but they would not repair it saying I voided the warranty. Any solution to make it function as more than a paperweight would be great [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 May 2021 09:05 AM PDT Hello, I'm trying to set up mitmproxy to record https traffic from my phone but i can't find the setting to connect to the proxy on the phone. App always crashes, except when there's NO Internet connection Posted: 24 May 2021 04:27 AM PDT I'm running Android 9 on an Honor 7X (HUAWEI BND-L21) and I have a very specific issue with one single app, Home Workouts Personal Trainer by Fitness22. I know from looking at the Play Store reviews that I'm not the only one with this problem, but searching online and even contacting the developer did not yield any results. Here's what's happening. When I first installed and opened this workout app, everything was fine. It played an introductory video and then presented me with a few workout options. I did one, was happy with the experience, closed the app. All good. After that the app wouldn't start anymore. It showed the little "Fitness22" logo animation that comes at the start of all their apps, and then nothing. Back to the home screen or the app drawer, depending on where I opened the app from. Tried force-stopping the app, tried uninstalling and reinstalling. The intro video played again (unskippable 🙄) but then, again, nothing. So I tried other things, and found out that the app would start, and keep running, if I turned the phone's internet connection completely off. No WiFi, no mobile network. As soon as I reconnect, the app closes down again. I could live with that workaround (disconnect the phone while I do my workouts) but the main reason I liked this particular app (the one time I managed to actually use it) over other workout apps was that the exercises came with very helpful video tutorials and examples. And those are not preloaded in the app but require an active internet connection. So you can see my dilemma. I know that the practical solution is probably to just find another, similar app or finally get a new phone after three years, but if anyone has any idea or explanation on what is happening here and maybe even if there's a way for me to fix it, I'd be more than happy to hear it. Unblocking Android Device on "Find My Device" Posted: 24 May 2021 06:46 AM PDT Hey guys, I lost my phone yesterday and I blocked the device using "Find My Device" on my Google Account. Thanks to this system which allows you to track where your mobile is, I discovered I left it at my work and now I haven't a clue how to unblock it. Please could anyone point me in the right direction as to how to facilitate this? Thanks a lot! :-) [link] [comments] |
What's Happened To Surfr Music App? It's not working. Posted: 24 May 2021 06:20 AM PDT |
Using the app Precise Volume has stuffed up my volume steps Posted: 24 May 2021 06:03 AM PDT So, I wanted to be able to control the sound slider bar more precisely, because I was finding one level too soft and the other too loud. I downloaded the app (Precise Volume) onto my Pixel 3 (latest version of Android 11), and found that it wasn't what I wanted, so I deleted it soon after. However, while my volume slider used to have say, ten different levels, it now has at least 20+. This on its own isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the volume isn't actually more precise, the first ten levels are the same loudness they used to be, and the rest of them are just louder. This means I'm only able to functionally use the first ten levels, and the others are far too loud to be useful. I have deleted the app, I have restarted my phone, but it is still the same. Is there a way to restart the sound setting, or something of the sort? If you need other details i'm happy to provide them. Thanks for the help. Edit: So with Androids base amount of volume steps apparently being 15, its seems I'm up to 25. On my Sony WH XM3's, anything above 16% (or 4 steps out of 25) is too loud. It used to be that I could get to atleast 5 steps out of 15 before being too loud. (I like to keep my volume relatively low, just personal preference). [link] [comments] |

Pixel 4a What is this on on the notification bar? Posted: 24 May 2021 05:26 AM PDT I have an Pixel 4a and just today I noticed a notification with this symbol <...> The Dots are more centered on the notification but this is a pretty good representation. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 May 2021 01:23 AM PDT Today my pixel 4 did an automatic update and when rebooting it displayed the same error found here https://images.app.goo.gl/3qyFjqAbFwiFfe5y7. Typically I would just proceed with the factory reset but (and I understand why this was a massive mistake on my part) I have a crypto wallet with a few thousand dollars with it, and the recovery phrase is either stored in a screenshot or in the notes app on the same device, there is no recovery without the recovery phrase. I recognized why this would be a problem but I had no idea Google was about to brick my phone in the same week. Plenty of sources have suggested that reinstall the OS though ADB software (or something similar) however that requires me to have debugging enabled and I can't access those options without doing the data reset. Google support wasn't much of a help as my photos and third party apps were not backed up. Some local fix it shops in my area all just reccomend that I reset without acknowledging the core of my issue. I've seen there are some ways to recover some data soon after the factory reset is preformed. But these seem to be inconsistent at best and kinda scammy software at worst. I'm really hoping someone has a way to help me here. I don't even care about preserving the phone or any data on it, it just sucks to see the money disappear just because my phone didn't update properly. Hopefully I'm just missing something but I'm beginning to believe I'm out of luck. [link] [comments] |
