Posted: 25 Nov 2020 09:42 AM PST I'm very inexperienced with phones and shopping for a new Pixel after my 2 XL broke. I really don't understand all the business about "unlocked" vs "locked" phones, my understanding was that an unlocked phone could be used with any carrier (I have Verizon). So I'm very confused as to why this "unlocked" phone can only work with 2 specific carriers. Can anyone explain? Here's the link for the Pixel 4 I'm looking at: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Google-Pixel-4-XL-64GB-Clearly-White-Unlocked-Refurbished-Grade-A/262889591 [link] [comments] |
Phone is constantly making notification noises Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:52 AM PST I have a Samsung s9. I recently factory reset my phone because I believe I had some type of malware (no idea). But it was slow and constantly downloading random apps. This seems to have fixed my phone. But now my phone is randomly making notification noises. Edit to emphasize its doing it a lot. I would guess 50 just today.. Seems to happen mostly when I'm driving. No background apps and in the notification setting it says nothing has recently notified me. What is going on? Color gamut keeps randomly changing Posted: 25 Nov 2020 02:06 AM PST Color gamut keeps randomly changing when I open some apps. Sometimes it's Chrome, sometimes it's other apps. I go to settings and it still shows that "Vivid" is selected but the colors displayed are "Professional Mode". So I have to select professional mode then switch back to vivid to get it to go back to normal. It's mostly just annoying. Searching for a simple launcher Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:06 AM PST I'm searching for a simple launcher where I can
I am currently using open launcher, but find it to be unstable and it only satisfies the first two of the three criteria above. Any suggestions? Many thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:03 AM PST Hello everyone, I just got my first android phone. It is a used Samsung Note 8. I'm not sure what model/version exactly. (btw it's only been about 30 hours and im already completely sold on android) Anyways I was using my bluetooth headphones (Anker's "SoundBuds Curve"), and the sound was very low. I messed around a little and I found out that the phone's media volume level isn't synced with the my headphones'. I made sure that "Disable absolute volume " is disabled. I went to advanced bluetooth settings and it said that "Media Volume Sync" isn't compatible with my device. The thing is the play pause button does work, and if i long press the colume buttons on my headphones it skips. I also tried to do the turn off and on, unpair and pair, etc. didn't work. I dont think the problem is within my headphones because they work well with my laptop (windows 10) and my old iphone 6 (ios 12.something). Thanks in advance!! [link] [comments] |

How do I stop my S20 from automatically putting caps on for passwords? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 10:38 AM PST |
I think I Bricked my phone, please help. OnePlus X. Posted: 25 Nov 2020 05:21 AM PST So today for some reason none of my apps could connect to the internet, only Instagram could. So I had to restart my phone. Now the main issue is my power button is broken, volume keys do not have their button cap on, i.e., I have to use something pointy to get in there and press the buttons. To restart my phone, I have to drain the battery till 0%, then plug it into the charger until the battery is above 5%, turn off the charger, then while pressing either the Volume up or down key turn on the charger. The "Boot Manager" thing opens up from where I click on exit and click on reboot. Now the problem is, today I did exactly that, but it didn't turn on.I have a notification light which turns blue when charging, and now I'm trying to charge it, but nothing. I followed an old XDA thread for my phone's "Unbricking".The phone was visible in "Device Manager", but after installing some drivers for the Unbricking, phone is not visible in the device manager. Does anyone know how I can keep my phone "online"? (For Find My Phone, Web Whatsapp, etc) Posted: 25 Nov 2020 10:04 AM PST I've had several Android phones in a row. OnePlus 1/3T, Pixel 3XL, S20, and a few others prior. One thing they've all had in common is that once I haven't used the handset in a while, they seem to go "offline". That is, when I can't find the phone in my house, and I go to Google's "Find My Phone", it can't ever locate it. I'll hit Ring as well and nothing happens. Then, when I eventually find it and open it, the ringer goes off. "We found your phone". Yeah thanks. Same thing happens with web.whatsapp.com. I try to log on and it just gets stuck in a loop looking for the phone, until it asks if I want to retry. The minute I open it, it comes back on. I've tried turning battery optimization off for whatsapp, but it doesn't seem to matter. Does anyone know how I can solve this? [link] [comments] |
What's a good/basic notification manager app for LED indicators? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 12:01 PM PST I had a perfect one some years back, but now that I have a phone with an LED indicator again, that old app I used is discontinued. Basically I just want to be able to assign a different color for each app. Text = blue, missed call = white, whatsapp = purple, snapchat = green, etc. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:47 AM PST My OG Pixel XL allowed for alerts but to turn off the atrocious sound that accompanies them. I find "Wireless Emergency Alerts" but not an option allow vibrate-notification-only. Thanks [link] [comments] |
4y old Galaxy S6 died, need your help! Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:43 AM PST Hello everyone! I've used my good old Samsung Galaxy S6 over the past 4 years and it has treated me well, and apart from the battery dying within a couple of hours and low storage I had no further issues. The phone has not been abused in any way, no jailbreaking, not even a scratch on the screen. Today it simply stopped working while charging on a wireless charging station as it has been daily for well over a year. (Status LED turned off, did not turn on at all) It does not respond to any button presses, trying all possible button-combinations (Volume Up/Down, Home Button, Power Button) did not do a thing. When plugged into a computer it first got recognised as something, but didnt show in the file explorer as it usually would. Now the computer doesn't recognise a thing. Pulling the SIM-card in and out didn't help as well. When put on the charging station it charges (indicated by the LED on the station) but doesn't show anything itself. I'd really appriciate any suggestions on how to get it back to life! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:31 AM PST The other day I was messing with the blue light filter and toggling it on and off pretty fast and it seemed to bug out on me. Then whatever the pop up is I forget exactly stayed on the screen. Even if I go to the lock screen the pop up will be there hovering over the fingerprint sensor. I can go into any app and it will stay there. Takes 2 minutes or so to disappear when as you know that stuff should disappear with in seconds. I tried restarting the phone, clearing system data/cache, clearing One UI data/cache, none of it worked. Would be nice if there was a way to disable these pop up messages. I'm a minimalist so I literally have only a few apps installed and haven't changed anything for a month as far as apps installed. I suppose the November update could have caused this I don't know. I do use a package disabler and if you use one, you know the drama happening there atm but I doubt that's the cause. At some point I'll re-enable everything but I don't want to atm as package disabler pro was removed from playstore so it's tough to know I can get a working package disabler in it's place. Tried googling to no avail. TL;DR When you connect/disconnect from wifi and the pop up comes up saying "Wifi Disconnected" pop ups like that stay on my screen for 2 minutes before disappearing. No matter what app I go into, even the lock screen the pop up stays there. [link] [comments] |
OnePlus 5 Aftermarket touchscreen multitouch problem Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:21 AM PST Hello, after having the whole display assembly on my OnePlus 5 replaced, I've encountered the following problem: whenever I touch the screen with 2 fingers and try moving them further away from each other, the phone automatically draws a line between the 2 points. I've recorded this in the video linked below... Question is: what might be the cause of the problem? Should I try contacting the service that had it replaced? I can't send it over to Oneplus' service because that would mean international shipping, and they'll have its memory wiped... [link] [comments] |
Flashing an Android one rom on a redmi device Posted: 25 Nov 2020 10:50 AM PST Hello everyone, sorry If this is the wrong place to post this, but i recently bought an Xiaomi Redmi note 9s global version i believe, but i was rocking a Samsung Galaxy S8 unlocked for more than 3 years, i loved the phone (except the whole bixby shoved down my throat experience) and i really got used to the software, especially full screen gestures, so it's been very uncomfortable Using my redmi note 9s, it's full of bloat ware, and not so great gestures, so i tried to unlock the bootloader, that's a pain in the butt, i have to do a long process to unlock the bootloader, I'm kinda noob in flashing roms, especially in this day and age with every smartphone manufacturer tightening their security. Long story short : i would like to know if there's anyway to somehow get a rom that's close to galaxy's rom, or maybe get a google stock rom on my phone, maybe even pre rooted rom. Sorry for the long post, I'd be very thankful for any tips :) TLDR : flashing stock Android on a non rooted ( yet ) redmi note 9s [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2020 03:09 AM PST I have Xiaomi Redmi 8A (MIUI 11) and I've noticed that whatever I'm typing gets underlined. It's not spellcheck because it's turned off and people online suggest it's actually something called "composing text". I'm really irritated by this black underlines because it wasn't there before or I could just turn it off but now my phone insist that it should be there even though it serves no purpose when everything else is turned off. Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/Z47AdxX What a random guy online had to say about it:
Then someone else goes to say that one should execute a following command in order to turn it off:
Admittedly, I've taken it out of context, however I have no idea what to do in order to pull this off. Is this something that should be executed by the ways of ADB/Fastboot? I've googled the hell out of it and I haven't found any info that's actually useful. I appreciate any help. [link] [comments] |
Is 8x A53 cortex SoC good enough in 2021? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 09:26 AM PST Helio P22 in particular. I'm talking browsing web, apps like WA/Telegram/Reddit etc. I don't play any games, I don't care about camera. It takes about 2 seconds to open an app that's not in RAM. Is that too much, or is it normal for non flagships? Do I need A7x cores phone in 2021 for this kind of usage? [link] [comments] |

Extract partition data from SD Posted: 25 Nov 2020 09:07 AM PST My phone (Android 7) don't let me use any app or, if it does, I can't do many things. I tried to move some data from the terminal to the SD (I have a partition in the SD where I have these data, but it's a partition for the system ) but the terminal don't move it. Because it's a partition from the system, it doesn't let me see it with the pc, ¿is there any method to work with the partition from the pc ? [link] [comments] |

Face Recognition for Notification Content Posted: 25 Nov 2020 03:43 AM PST Hi, is there a way to keep my Notification Content (on lock screen) hidden untill my Face Is recognized, but still keep my phone locked until are more secure Biometric like Iris Scanning or Fingerprints are used? To make sure i only me can read my Notifications on the lockscreen without unlocking the phone. To unlock the phone i would use my fingerprints or Iris. My device is a Samsung Galaxy Note 9. False battery percentage after flashing custom rom Posted: 25 Nov 2020 07:28 AM PST I flashed a custom rom to a tablet in our house which was sitting for a while.
