[REQUEST] Best games to play remotely with family members during the holidays - that everyone already knows how to play?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 07:24 AM PST

There are a lot of articles out there that show lists of good family games, but nearly all of them focus on new games rather than old familiar mainstays. I want to be able to play with my retired parents, so I don't want them to be dealing with how to use their phones AND learning a new game at the same time.

    Ideally:

    • Cross-platform. (My sister just had to get an iPhone...)
    • 4-player.
    • Something they're likely to already know how to play. The stuff everyone had in their closets growing up. The stuff you whip out at the cabin on a rainy day.
    • Free or cheap.
    • Free of intrusive ads, IAPs, tracking, datamining, spamming, all that crap.
    • Good UI. There are a million Uno clones out there, but most of them are garbage.

Please feel free to share anything, even if it doesn't exactly fit my requirements. I'm sure there are plenty of other people who may find it useful.

    Thanks a bunch!

Golden Joystick Awards 2020: Among Us wins the Breakthrough Award

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 10:58 AM PST

Among Us, developer Innersloth has been seeing newly found interest and praise in their game this year. Among their accolades for the year they can now proudly claim the 2020 Breakthrough Award from this year's Golden Joystick Awards.

This year the Breakthrough Award is one of the "Critically-chosen" categories where the Golden Joystick Awards decides on the winner not by viewer's choice but due to their judging panel. The members of the panel come from many different media outlets such as GamesRadar, PC Gamer, Edge Magazine, The Official PlayStation Magazine and, Retrogamer. Among us is one of the few bright sides of 2020, bringing us all months of hilarity with friends and on Twitch. Congratulations to the four-man team at Innersloth for their Golden Joystick Award for Breakthrough Game of the Year! You can read more about the news here

    Current state of Eve Echoes?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 10:37 AM PST

Wanted to get into this when it got launched but I've had laughably unstable internet recently and never bothered trying. Now that it's fixed I come to see it's got a 3.8 rating and all the recent reviews are pretty hyperbolic 1 star reviews.

Anyone have a more tempered take on the current state of the game that isn't quite as emotionally charged as the people submitting reviews in the store seem to be?

    Cheers, thanks.

What are some (PvE & rogue/rpg-like) card games on android?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 03:12 AM PST

    Hey all,

I've been having a card-game craze lately and have been searching the play store for fun card games to play and I'm always looking for more. So I was wondering whether there are any card games on mobile you'd recommend others to try out?

What I mean with PvE is games that are (primarily) offline-centric. This therefore exclude games such as hearthstone, as that game is primarily a PvP game with some off-line elements. With rogue/rpg-like games I mean games where deckbuilding and/or classes and whatnot matter. Perhaps with separate runs and boss battles and whatnot. Basically the equivalent of Slay the Spire and Monster Train on PC.

I've played a few already and I would heartily recommend the first four: Solitairica Night of the Full Moon Meteorfall: Journeys Void Tyrant

Have you played any of the above? What did you think of it? What other card games have you played and would you recommend?

    Multiplayer games for families

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:03 AM PST

So like a lot of people my family and friends are playing among us right now. Having a great time and I was wondering what recommendations people have for games like that. Not necessarily in game style but just games people can play together over the internet or in the same room together. Not looking for like an mmo or whatever. I guess board games would be cool.

    [REQUEST] Multiplayer, Non-Real Time Games?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 09:56 AM PST

Looking for multiplayer games that are held over time and not real-time - for example, Wordfeud, where a single game can last multiple days if necessary.

Doesn't need to be free, 1v1 or group option even better. Just not something with terrible ads or IAPs that change the game - I'd rather a game for a few bucks without the annoyances.

    I cant find this game

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 12:46 AM PST

in about 2016 or 2017 i downloaded this indie platformer, but cant remember the name. I know it starts with numbers like 8011... or 7011 or something like that, but its not in my library so i cant find it. it was a story game with a very dark and mysterious vibe, where the protagonist would have to escape this building(or something like that), if anyone has an idea of what this game was or knows this game, please comment the name or a link to it's site.

[REQUEST] Looking for an old sliding block puzzle game.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 03:48 AM PST

Remembered it a few weeks ago, would like to find and play it again.

It was a 2D top-down singleplayer puzzle game where you slid blocks into a specific shape(or was it pattern?), you could only slide the blocks around other blocks, the background was blue-ish and the blocks initially started out as (transparent?) white, going further introduced different coloured blocks with different properties(e.g - ones that you couldn't move, ones that only moved in one direction, etc), it had some really good electronic ambient background music(no vocals) the game was also free at the time with hudreds(?) of levels and some later levels locked behind a paywall, I do not remember how the menu looked like, when I played it or if it was playable offline(probably was though).
