How to run offers in f2p games (without breaking the ingame economy)?

We're approaching Black Friday and for most #f2p #mobilegames it will be the point of the year with the most hardcore discounts. But offers are double edge swords: They generate a quick spike of money, yet they can also harm the baseline revenue.

In this article I share some tips and thoughts on how to limit the backlash derived from running offers on IAP packs and other game content.

    Contents

    • Should you run offers & discounts on your game and why?
    • What are the potential negative effects?
    • Best practices to avoid future backlash
    • How to detect when offers are causing problems?
    • How to fix a game that is "addicted" to discounts

I'm looking for a specific game I used to play!

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 05:23 AM PST

I played it a few years ago and it just recently came to my mind again. I obviously do not remember the name.

It was some sort of riddle adventure game in a very beautiful steampunk-ish style. It was about astronomy a lot and there was a hot air balloon included somehow. There were no interactions or dialogues with NPCs (I believe there were no NPCs at all). You couldn't really 'travel' through this world, you basically had an image of the landscape or a house (depending on where you were) and had the option to go to the next location or the previous one. I hope you understand what I mean. It is similar to a game called "The Mystery of Blackthorn Castle"

This is basically all I remember. I don't know if this game even exists anymore, but I would gladly appreciate if someone knew it or even played it as well. One thing I also remember is that it wasn't a free game, it cost like $1.99 or something like that. Thanks in advance! :)

Marvel Realm of Champions: Global Pre-Registration is Now Open for both Android and iOS

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 07:58 PM PST

Hello! For those of you who haven't heard yet, Kabam Games and Marvel has officially confirmed that Marvel Realm of Champions will indeed get a global release and you can even pre-register for the game now on their official website!

Realm of Champions is set in a newly imagined world of the Marvel Universe, players will be able to play customisable variants of their favourite super heroes and compete against each other in 3v3 arenas and 2v2v2 death matches. Like other MOBA games, Realm of Champions requires players to work together using strategy, team work and sheet skill to defeat their opponents. The open beta also allows players to team up as a group of 3 in a co-op type PvE mode to defeat their base. As players win games and progress, they will earn new gear, upgrades and unlock more heroes. This isn't just another button smasher or auto-play Marvel game, it will require you to bring your A game if you want to be in the top ranks.
