When I try to use diskpart on the SD card on Windows I get a The disk is write protected even after clearing the card attributes using diskpart. | Sideloading APKs in Android 2.3 Posted: 09 Nov 2020 12:26 PM PST I recently got an old Nexus One for the purpose of making a YouTube video of it. I'm needing to sideload an apk of the Play Store onto it so I can access other applications on it, but I cannot find how to do so, since Android 2.3 doesn't seem to have a built-in file explorer. I tried downloading an APK on the web browser, but the file doesn't seem to want to download. The APKs are currently sitting on the SD card on the phone, but I need to figure out a way to access and install them. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
| OnePlus 6 shuts down after a few seconds Posted: 09 Nov 2020 10:03 AM PST My wife's OnePlus 6 started shutting down random, it usually happens up until 3 minutes after turning it on. - It shuts down without notifying before - it's like someone killed the switch. - It doesn't happen during the 1 minute boot up. - Battery is charged to 95% and it still happens. - It does not happen when connected to the charger (tried 2) - Cleared up space from storage, she had only 500mb free, cleared 8gb. - at twrp (it is rooted) wiped the cache partition - tried logging using log cat, I have a saved log from during the shut down, didn't see and fatal log or something with "fatal", "shut" and "temperature" - it seems to get quite hot at the top left side of the back side. I just had this question in mind since I myself am using an non-rooted android phone which runs on Android Nougat and has stopped receiving any kind of updates, be it security patch or stuffs, right after the Nougat one. I recently read some articles as to how older versions of android phones are more prone to hacking and being infected from viruses, so it made me a little worried about my phone since I use it extensively. Also, I have no plan to upgrade into newer phone for at least an year from now. So, can some of you guys please suggest some ways to protect the older android phones? Thank you. [link] [comments] |

I have a group text with 2 other android users that is working fine. I'm using a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S10+, running Android 10, One UI version 2.5. I am using the Messages app from google. But no one mentions the fact that the display only has 1080p, while the others all have 1440p. So I was wondering, is it even relevant? Is there a big noticeable difference between the s20 FE 5G display vs the s20 + for example, since they're in the same price range? | Posted: 09 Nov 2020 12:23 PM PST I need to flash the device for which I use QFIL but the device is already in the EDL mode, and doing so keeps returning errors. From my understanding, it needs to be in device management mode (DM mode) first and then the flashing tool enters the EDL mode to flash the FW and then it exits. Does anyone know a way to get out of the EDL mode apart from rebooting the device (which didn't quite work)? [link] [comments] |

I tried to go into the screen color inversion tab and the screen color adjustment tab and it's not working. I want to move it to my newer phones, but cannot locate it, and have lost my. project files (yes, I know; make backups. Right after I get that time machine debugged) so I can't rebuild it. | Posted: 09 Nov 2020 11:17 AM PST Android 10, OnePlus 5T, stock (OxygenOS 10), AT&T, Google Messages app. I want to exclude one person from being blocked in Do Not Disturb. I realize I can exclude all starred contacts from DND, but I don't want to do that. I want to keep a few people starred for easily calling them, but just want one person's texts to not get blocked in notifications when DND is on. If I go into the individual notification channel settings for Messages > Person, I can flip the Override Do Not Disturb switch....but that doesn't actually do anything. It will think I'm trying to say "tree" about 3/4 of the time and "tyre" maybe every 10th time. I'm on an LG G7 ThinQ on Pie using the LG keyboard. They used to have an option not to show spoilers or sports scores for the teams you like so they wouldn't show up in your news feed or Google discovery. All of a sudden about a month or two ago, scores started showing up in my notifications and articles about games in my discovery news feed. I have checked my settings and I can't find any options to avoid this anymore. I only see how to block everything about that team. I have searched and the articles I find seem to be for the old way which I can't see anymore. What happened to this option and how do I get it back? Anyway yeah they cut out on one side every 5 or so mins randomly and its annoying. They reconnect in a second so it's not that bad, but sucks for music. I have put all bluetooth settings to default or factory. One setting is accept multiple properties and I have that enabled. I don't know what the fuck I am doing at all. | How to tweak updates/change notification icons? Posted: 09 Nov 2020 09:44 AM PST My phone just updated and... it's really, really not good. For context, I'm autistic, so changes are really upsetting and distressing for me - especially ones I can't step back from/opt out of. The most unbearable thing about this update is the icons for battery and phone connectivity. They've changed and it's so bad I can't use my phone now. I've had to get someone to look after it (but they won't help me deal with this). I cannot emphasise enough how distressing the changes are (my last phone I didn't allow to update for over a year). Is there any way to change these icons back? Or to go back a system update and stop it forcing any future updates on me? If so, can you please explain step-by-step/as clearly as possible, because this is very distressing already and I don't want to end up with a smashed phone (I know I don't sound rational, I really wish I could just get over this, but something very fundamental and important to me has been disrupted, and I now abhor my phone, I'm really, really struggling because I use it 80% of the time). I managed to find an option to show battery %, but that's it. There's a new theme thing, but it only lets you change colour and app icon shape, not the battery or signal strength icons (which are the main issue). After a whole 2 minutes, I also noticed that the notification themselves are... ugly. They've made them split, with rounded edges around some of them - something I'd really like to change too if I can deal with the icons. I have a Moto G8 plus and I'm not sure which system update it's currently on, but it's the newest one. Any help is very much appreciated! Hope reddit will be helpful. I've recently bought a new car (Polo 6) with its cool screen. There's just this one issue that i can't stop thinking about... When I'm connected to the radio via bluetooth everything works perfectly BUT the spotify cover art WONT SHOW on the display (it works with iPhones tho). I tried to find some solutions on the internet but not really helpful. I think its a bluetooth issue. I activated bluetooth 1.6 version in developer options but nothing changed. Posted: 09 Nov 2020 08:05 AM PST My Galaxy s7 (AT&T) froze up on me last night so I tried to reset it, but ever since then it hasn't been able to fully boot. I have tried every combo of buttons and gotten different results, such as installing update, the reboot menu, no command screen, etc. I can get as far as entering my password then the little lock graphic comes up, then nothing, back to black. Are there any options to recover data (such as messages and app info) before a hard reset? I know I'm a dingus since I didn't back it up sooner, but at least I have most of my photos on an SD card.
