| Why is my IR blaster flashing? Posted: 02 Jul 2020 02:26 AM PDT I'm on an LG G5, and the IR blaster keeps flashing on and off for seemingly no reason. Because of this, I can't actually use it for anything, and it's killing battery life. Is there any way to determine what app is using the IR blaster? Edit: upon a little experimentation, I found that it only starts blinking when you hit something and continues for a couple minutes, during which time it doesn't work. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jul 2020 12:50 AM PDT Starting from Android 10, Google no longer allows users to pick any keyboard they want under a Work / Corporate profile. I can therefore only use the phone's default keyboards for work purposes. Are there any phones that use SwiftKey or GBoard as the default keyboard? The manufacturers' keyboards from the likes of Samsung, LG or Oppo are absolutely unusable, therefore looking for a phone that wouldn't have a vendor-made keyboard but instead utilised one of the well known ones. | Android 10 - predictive text won't save certain words Posted: 02 Jul 2020 11:17 AM PDT Predictive text helps me out a lot for the most part, however there are some words that just can't be saved over and I can't figure out how to fix this issue. For example: I try to type the word "bills" and predictive text changes it to "Bill's" every time. I've tried changing it to only do "bills" and it will work for a short while but eventually revert back to suggesting "Bill's" instead. Is there a way to fix this? [link] [comments] |

I wonder is it alright to listen to the radio (Simple Radio) when the screen is off, obviously, while I charge my device? Any significant strain on the battery? Also a follow up question: on Android 9 we all have a battery protection mode, charges till 60% and then stops! So is it ok to leave the device charging overnight, can I trust this option? Thanks! | Posted: 02 Jul 2020 05:46 AM PDT I have a Galaxy A70 and had no issues so far. Yesterday out of no where I couldn't get it to connect to my home wifi anymore. The issue is only persistent on my phone. My PS4, my GFs phone and any other WIFI connected device work fine. I already restarted my phone, I tried resetting all my connections but nothing helped. The router is located in my landlords suite above ours and he is on vacation so I have no way of resetting the router as of now Any help would be appreciated, thanks [link] [comments] |

I don't like automatic screen rotation, so I have it set so when I turn my phone sideways a button appears in the lower right corner next to the back button. That's better but it can be finicky sometimes, not always appearing when I rotate the phone. Is there a way to keep it locked in the corner of the bar at all times or a better way all together? | A gesture that causes an animation and does nothing else Posted: 02 Jul 2020 11:06 AM PDT I am using note 8 and a few weeks ago I noticed that when I swiped from the bottom middle to one of the edges ( such that gesture creates a cut corner triangle) slowly (doing it fast fails), it makes a screenshot like animation: https://imgur.com/a/VY6HXJW I couldn't find any gesture related to that in settings or anywhere. This happens in all the apps and in the main screen so I assume it's not caused by any app. However I got curious after ignoring it a few times. | Callee's name showing on outbound calls? Posted: 02 Jul 2020 10:37 AM PDT Note, I am NOT talking about my own phone number showing on the remote phone. So my Google Fu cannot seem to answer this question. Also I only personally have an iPhone so cannot replicate anything myself. When making an outbound call, the calling phone app will show the name of the callee on the screen, if it's in the device's own address book. But quite often it's also showing the callee's name even when it's NOT in its own Contacts, usually when calling a business. So this means the phone is doing some kind of lookup. Where is it pulling this information from? And how can this remote database be updated? Part of the reason I'm asking, one particular number is showing the WRONG name for one of my customer's own phone numbers. [link] [comments] |

Some apps will "take over" bluetooth from my PC, even if they're not playing audio. The best example is when I get a call in Microsoft Teams, it rings on both my PC and phone, but if I answer on the PC there's no audio as the phone still has control of the headphones. | notifications when Bluetooth is connected Posted: 02 Jul 2020 08:42 AM PDT On phones with Pie or Q, I find that if a bluetooth headset is connected, then notification sounds only play through the headset. On Oreo it used to play aloud from both the phone and the headset. Does anyone else notice this change as well? [link] [comments] |

I'm selling my OP5, and am wondering the best way to clear all my data from the phone pre selling. I've contacts/photos etc backed up to Google drive so I'm good in that respect. I've been advised: 1) use shreddit to delete everything 2) factory reset phone Does this mean all data can never be recovered, or is there still a risk that my original data could be restored somehow? The phone is a Huawei P Smart 2019, and before the Android 10 update, the sound was crystal clear, both in video recording and the default audio recording app. However, after the Android 10 update, this all changed, and the sound in both things I mentioned, significantly worsened, way past the "audibly worse" point. Posted: 02 Jul 2020 07:49 AM PDT I installed Nightly because they are killing Firefox Preview in favor of Nightly, and noticed that the default search provider wasn't Google but Amazon's. Google search is still on the pinned Top Sites. Is Mozilla finally putting the money where their mouth is and finally moving from Google (search) or was that an error on their part? One exception I know of it Google Pixel series. Anyone know other OEMs which have unfiltered camera. Like Google Pixel or iPhone.
