| Posted: 01 Jul 2020 10:42 PM PDT My 2015 Sony W800C TV updated to Android 8 last week, and ever since the update, the 3 video player apps i have installed (including the default Sony Video Player App) no longer work! There are 3 apps effected. Kodi Nova Video Player Sony (Video) I have an external Hard Drive that is plugged into the USB port in the back of the TV, and i use Kodi to watch my movies. Since the TV OS update it doesn't play ANY of my movies, in fact, it doesn't even try to open them. Nor does it update my movie list (check for new movies), as it always usually does when i start the app. The movies are there, it just won't play them. So i tried to use Nova instead which is an open source version of the excellent Archos. Nova DOES play my movies thankfully, but it rebuilds my movie collection EVERY SINGLE TIME i start the app! I have over 500 movies, so that's a lot of time sat there waiting for it to do it's thing before i can watch a movie. It never used to do this, it would only update if any new movies were added to my HD. So since these two no longer work properly, i decided to use Sony's crappy video app, which is so basic you can't even sort the movies in any other order than the default A-Z! But even the Sony app no longer works! It does the exact same thing Nova now does and rebuilds the entire movie database upon opening the app! Wtf?! I've already factory reset the TV TWICE NOW! Didn't work... I've re-installed the apps, about 5 times now, didn't work... I've deleted the apps cache, and data, and you guessed it, didn't work!! What could be causing this? Has anyone experienced any issues with using Shield/Android TV devices with their Vizio TV? Hoping all of the power on/CEC features of the Shield work as expected so I can just power the TV with the Shield remote and go straight into Android TV without having to go through Vizio's Smarcast screen first. I have already download google drive onto the box and no idea if I keep the app on the box or put it on my TV. I know there are some paid apps that will let you watch chinese stuff for around $60 a year. I was looking into napper but it appear they just stop working in usa. I was told to look into flyingsharks but the tvpad forum i use to get info is pretty much dessert with not much update. [link] [comments] | ||
