| Why do Play Store apps take so damn long to update and install? Help Posted: 14 Sep 2021 10:22 AM PDT Hi, I own an s20+ and in my life, I have never seen a slower phone updating and installing apps. I remember owning a Huawei p10 plus like 4 years ago and it was the shit! It installed apps in like 5 seconds. Now this fricking expensive phone literally takes like 2 or 3 minutes with each app. It's not the wifi and it's not the software since I'm running the latest update, not the firmware itself because it has also been like this forever. 3 minutes, only 1 app updated. I'm stunned, it makes no sense. Why is it so slow, am I the only one? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 14 Sep 2021 10:07 AM PDT I do believe that this would be the best sub for my question, so hers hoping you can help me out. I have a problem with my S8, and I'm pretty sure it's malware. I randomly get pulled into an add of some sort, sometimes in chrome (on random "you win!" site), some a blank screen with a video ad playing (last time it was Amazon). It has opened while I've been in all sorts of app, nothing specific. I can back out them, but if I open the running apps list, nothing shows. It started about 2 weeks ago, and I've already deleted any apps I had d/l'd previous to that, but there were only a couple anyway. I have tried updating and running Malware Bytes twice, and each time it tells me that nothing has been found. Any other ideas? Help me, Obi Reddit Kenobi. You're my only hope. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 14 Sep 2021 07:33 AM PDT Hi there, I've had this issue for the past year and a bit now on my Xiaomi Mi A1 running Android One, and I've now switched to a Poco X3 Pro, and I'm having the same issue somehow. I have dark mode enabled but certain elements of the OS like app folders still use a light style border, even when I switch back and forth. This affects apps too, Messenger has a white search bar at the top and certain chat themes are unreadable, and black and white profile pictures are often inverted. Instagram is probably the worst though, if I open a link through the app and then return, it switches to an awful unreadable combination of white text on white background. I've tried switching between apps 'system' and 'dark' modes, but usually this doesn't change anything, and the fact that the home screen folders are white makes me think this is some kind of system bug that I've been cursed with across these phones. I have no idea why this is still affecting me even on a new phone, and I'm happy to provide screenshots if anyone thinks they can help, or have dealt with this issue before. Thanks! | Help me find my rubiks cube data plzzzz (adb + bmgr, google backup service) Posted: 14 Sep 2021 07:59 AM PDT Hi everyone, I have a OnePlus 6t and factory reset it a few days ago because it was really slow (btw the problem is still not solved, also my fingerprint sensor doesn't work anymore, may be linked). I did my backup locally (only sms and photos) and on the Google Drive service (everything saved there, always enabled and saves everything). My problem is that I had more than 2000 solves of my time solving the cube, I always tracked my progress. I can't anymore because I lost the data as it was not saved locally. I don't want the data of the other apps, I would like to get only the data from this app, the name of the app is twisty timer. I tried to use adb and bmgr, but I can't manage to make it work. I do not find the package name, it seems to be com.aricneto.twistytimer... And when I try to restore from the old save nothing works, and it says in logcat And in the shell console, I tried to so the same with other apps, there are two backups (of the same phone), one before reset, one after. I manage to restore from the new backup files, but not from the old ones. I don't know if there is a much simpler solution. I can see the app exist in Google Drive in the app in the old backup, but I can't do anything with it. Suddenly it is then unresponsive to some things, but not to others, like just now I couldn't log out on instagram, it just didn't respond, but it did respond to other things. Also it has happened that a different app opened than the one I clicked on. And then sometimes a lot of things started to shake, like when I tried to force stop the instagram app just now, using the recent apps button, the whole screen started to shake. | Google Messages lost contact picture for a conversation Posted: 14 Sep 2021 11:51 AM PDT I'm using a Pixel 4A, and I recently renamed one of my contacts. Since then, their contact picture in Google Messages has disappeared. It still shows that they have a contact photo in contacts, and it shows the picture when it's set as a bubble conversation on the side of the screen. Even the Google Messages app on Windows/Chrome shows the contact photo, but the conversation on my phone is missing and just shows their initial. I've enabled and reenabled sync for Messages, restarted my phone, tried setting a new contact photo, and none of those have worked. I don't really want to delete the conversation and start a new one, but I wanted to see if anyone had run into this issue before and had a solution. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 14 Sep 2021 11:15 AM PDT long story short, i dropped my phone in the hot tub, put it in rice and everything, couple weeks later now i want the files off that phone. plugged it in, charged to 25%, unplugged then tried to power on, got the samsung logo, great. but the screen is still black. although, i can feel it vibrate when i plug it in and when i plug it into my computer, it makes the noise but doesnt show up anywhere on my computer. does the phone need to be unlocked? what can i do? | How to access phone storage externally when phone is 'dead' Posted: 14 Sep 2021 10:36 AM PDT Problem -- Have a Moto G7 that took a hard fall right on the screen face. The glass protector cracked spectacularly but, when removed, reveals a shockingly intact screen. Phone had a rugged case and appears otherwise intact. Screen will no longer light up. D-E-A-D screen. Long-pressing the power button sometimes yields a brief vibrate. Sometimes not. Plugging in charging cord sometimes yields a vibrate also. Phone is fully charged (if still able to take a charge, impossible to know). Already went through UBreakIFix. Wasn't impressed with the communication skills of the people I met at the Seattle U District location. Left me with no further knowledge or assurance that they had actually done everything they could. Question-- I would like to sell this over eBay for as-is parts. Is there a way (externally?) to be sure that the phone is totally wiped as I don't want to hand over our personal data to some rando when I can't do a proper factory data reset. Or is this a phone I basically have to pound to smithereens with a hammer in my driveway so nobody can access that data? [link] [comments] |

| Help... Mi Calendar icon accidentally deleted. Posted: 14 Sep 2021 05:14 AM PDT EDIT: I just found out the solution to this myself after (accidentally) removing a system app icon. If you are using the same OS, go to Settings > Apps > and then Manage System App Shortcuts. You'll see there the system app icons you can remove or add. I hope this helps anyone who's just as lost as I was minutes ago. Recently I was tinkering with my phone after MIUI 12.5 update on Redmi Note 7 and I accidentally removed the icon for the Mi Calendar app. I tried clearing data on system launcher, clearing data on calendar, and uninstall/install calendar app but the icon doesn't seem to come back. What should I do? As much as possible I would like to avoid a factory reset for my device. I'm kinda lost and stressed since the calendar app is a huge part of my day-to-day life and organization. | how to access storage of vivo phone that has a non-functioning touchscreen Posted: 14 Sep 2021 07:12 AM PDT the screen of my vivo 15 is wrecked and it can't display anything. currently when i plug it in my pc, my pc doesnt detect it because the default mode is to charge the phone. i can only access my phone storage on my pc if i manually select usb file transfer mode or something on my phone. however since the screen is not displaying anything, i can't choose the usb file transfer mode. the phone is still functioning as i can see light coming out of my phone when i press the power button. is there a software that allows me to access the storage of my vivo? found drfone or something but it only works for samsung [link] [comments] |

Even on my gboard the symbols are replaced and when I check my mail it shows ?gmail.com but when I try to type to @gmail.com, it works totally fine. Or another example could be that when I check a youtube video's comment section, in the replies it shows ?abc... Like this? Can somebody tell me what's going on and how do I fix this? Some come up automatically in the games, some I choose to watch for a bonus. However, recently some ads are now doing this thing where when they finish, they will automatically open the play store or if I already had the app installed, just directly open the app instead. Is there a way I can stop this? Ads used to just bring up like a popup asking if I wanted to download from the app store and now they're much more intrusive by opening things up on their own. Posted: 14 Sep 2021 04:06 AM PDT I've had this on going thing since like Android 9 or so where I'd randomly have this data usage, usually several gb upwards of 20-30+ just in background usage alone. Could not determine what the shit was doing it. Even with adb, system logging, and the minimal amount of shell scripting I'm familiar with, I COULD not pinpoint the cause. It's not always something i can control . Places like Reddit for example or any place with your Google sign in, access to your account or your user Oauth prompted logins (say u just downloaded reddit ) will give u two accounts. One account for anonymous browsing automatically (like your browser has, except referred to as incognito) without even loggin in necessarily. I could defer, login by username ONLY not even email and still get Reddit displaying 2 fuckin accounts in the app, old Reddit, desktop, mobile, my google account, didn't matter ... Those incognito or "anonymous, or GUEST accounts [data] are still calculated for their usage.. Obviously. Anyway that's what it is. I decided to mess to around with the accounts , play admin, and was running an alternate profile (mostly ish) separate from my primary... Except.. It's not really separate, but.. hopefully someone looking finds this.. You're most likely doin it to yourself.. or your device is being used remotely by another service.. maybe both [link] [comments] |

Info: Samsung Galaxy a6 plus. bought it in 2018 from Al Ghanem. My data plan is from Ooredoo and my subscription started way before the issue began. I tried deleting and reinstalling all of my third-party calling apps, tried giving the Phone app permission to everything. Whenever someone calls me on whatsapp or through the phone app, I can't hear them (their voice will sound extremely low and muffled.) but they can hear me clearly. I don't have this problem with recording audio or google meet, which made me a bit weirded out since isn't a google meeting a call too? i don't know if this is relevant or not, but i'll include it just in case. (this happened last year, in june) you see that front-facing speaker-thingy at the top of the phone (between the front camera lens and front flashlight)? anyway i think it's called an earpiece speaker well I tried to dust it out using a dry painting brush, and it did kinda work. I don't know if I damaged the grill/mesh thingy inside and if that may be causing my problem. I have tried almost everything I read online to help but nothing worked, sadly. I'm 13 and my mom thinks it's not serious so she won't let me send it to someone who may actually know how to fix it, so a repair shop isn't an option. I don't know if it's a problem with my in-call volume since it's still silent even when i put it on the highest volume possible. and it's definitely not the other person's fault since it happens with everyone i call and not just one person. sorry if it's not enough info.
