Personal Safety app -- Do I allow GPS all the time, or only while using the app? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 04:46 AM PDT I usually don't allow apps to access the GPS all the time, to reduce battery consumption. But for car crash detection, etc., does this app need GPS access all the time? [link] [comments] |
Why does my phone keep calling my mother randomly? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 12:42 PM PDT I have a new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, the folding one. For some reason, my phone has randomly decided to call my mother for no reason and I don't know why. This happens usually when I close the phone. I was always silent when it happens, so it's not like it is listening for me to say "call mom" out loud. I checked the lock screen and there's nothing I can tap on intentionally to call her, so I fail to see how it does this accidentally and repeatedly. There's also nothing happening on the notification bar when the phone is closed. What's causing this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:20 AM PDT I have never formatted the phone, I would like to do it but I do not want to lose the versions that I have of some apps [link] [comments] |
How do I compile a custom rom from source? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 06:44 AM PDT I have been looking into becoming a maintainer for my device, but as far as I have searched online, it seems like all tutorials just give you some commands and except you to have a functioning custom rom and most devs don't have the time nor want to explain the whole process to someone. What I am asking for is a straight on tutorial for everybody looking to compile a rom for either the comomunity or themselves on Linux and MacOS. [link] [comments] |
Need advice on which Android phone to purchase that has NFC, a decent processor with minimal lag Posted: 03 Jun 2020 10:49 AM PDT Hi, My old Samsung J3 Prime broke. I am on T-Mobile (US) and am looking for a new Android in the $200ish-$250 price range. Ideally it would have NFC capability. What I've seen: Samsung A10e Samsung A20 (but it has Exnos) moto g7 power (NFC?) LG K51 LG Aristo 4+ If phones have an Exnos chip set don't they tend to have performance/overheating issues? I remember having a Galaxy S 5 which was replaced twice. All for overheating or just stopping working. It got really hot. What's my best bet? Uses: Outlook/Exchange Google Maps No gaming Chrome maybe 2-3ish other apps potentially intermittent use. Will have an external microsd card as well. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Android update broke Bluetooth Posted: 03 Jun 2020 10:47 AM PDT Last night I was prompted to restart my phone for a "critical update", android 10. I complied, but after the restart my Bluetooth headphones constantly skip and stutter no matter what I do. I restarted my phone thrice, I hard booted it, reset my headphones, unpaired and repaired them, but nothing works. Any ideas? I have a moto z4 play and turtle Beach stealth 700 headset, and have had no issues up to this point. [link] [comments] |
Tinder Not compatible with this version? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 05:33 AM PDT Hello everyone. I'm trying to download Tinder again and I am unable to because in Google play it says "Your device isn't compatible with this version." I am on Android 10 and I have a Google Pixel 3a XL. I've already clear the cache and storage in my Google play app and restarted my phone to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Google Messages is creating duplicate group text threads. Posted: 03 Jun 2020 12:58 PM PDT I have a text thread with my mom and wife. We've had it for years. Previously, if I went to 'start a new thread' and just added both of them it would direct me to the original thread. This behavior was the same for both of them as well. I recently got both of them on Messages and using the Chat functionality. Now, if I try to 'start a new thread' and just add both of them it actually creates an entirely new thread. This behavior is the same now for both of them too. The end result is we have multiple threads which is not the worst thing in the world, but still frustrating. This must be due to how Messages handles the new Chat features. I'm wondering if there is a way to stop the app from creating redundant threads while still keeping the Chat features active? Phone screen is static. How fast should I replace my phone? Posted: 02 Jun 2020 07:02 PM PDT Intermittently the screen goes staticy like an old TV. Started today. Dropped calls to one location? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 12:02 PM PDT Trying to get some insight or see if anyone else has had this issue before. So I spoke with my mother on the phone yesterday and the call dropped a few times. This happened last month when I called their land-line instead of her cell. Any reason why this would happen? My calls never drop when I call anyone else. We were in the same places (her house & my apartment) each time. The first time it dropped yesterday was without warning. The second time, it seemed to mute us both for 10ish seconds and then dropped. I'm using a Pixel 3a XL on ATT. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:05 AM PDT So, this was the best instrument tuner app I ever found. I've used it for a good while and recommended it to friends, but finally had to change phones and the apk is gone from the play store. I hunted down the apk, but the in-app link to buy the locked features is broken. I will gladly pay for them again, if someone can help me find a way to do so. Posted: 03 Jun 2020 10:23 AM PDT On both Google messages and the Samsung messages app on my Samsung S10 when I am in a group chat with a lot of people and they are all texting I suddenly get no texts and get tap to download texts from all of them. During this time I cannot text either. Then after a while the texts start to come to my phone all at once. Any fixes. (This was with the Global Network connection) UPDATE: now when I press those download buttons only their text in the gc will come through. So it will be in the wrong order (this was with CDMA) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 09:27 AM PDT I have a Samsung S9+ with the latest android update, when I tried deleting all my music files to import the updated files from my PC my storage suddenly filled up. With 125GBs used out of 128. While on the storage page it says I only used up around 27 GBs. Could anyone offer a fix? [link] [comments] |
Custom ROM does not fit phone screen Posted: 03 Jun 2020 09:18 AM PDT I have a Redmi Note 6 Pro and have been installing custom ROMs on it. However every ROM I have installed have the same issue where my screen can not cover the whole display and gets cut off at the chin. I have tried flashing the ROMs with both TWRP and Orangefox but doesn't seem to do anything. Here's the photos, the first one is how much of the display I can see the screen and the second one is how much I should be able to see with the nav bar and all: Thanks for helping me out. Not receiving text notifications on my Galaxt S9 on One UI 2.0 Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:28 AM PDT It's like a 50/50 chance the notification pops up. This has been really pissing me off the last couple days. My notifications for texts haven't been popping up until I open the messaging app itself. I don't have any notification settings turned off for the app. [link] [comments] |
Unsecured Wifi connection has my phone's MAC address?? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:26 AM PDT Hi! I'm really a noob so hopefully someone can help me out. But now I got this thing about the wifi. The wifi list on each device around house shows an unsecured network called 'Living room'. At first I thought about some unsecured Chromecast and today I was kind of curious what it could be, as it had great signal. So a connection was made but no internet allowed, I wrote down the MAC address and went to search on the internet. But now I don't know how that's possible, how I can turn it of or anything. Does anybody have any idea what it could be? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Google Messages keeps sending RCS messages even when the other person is offline Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:45 AM PDT Me and my girlfriend turned on the RCS chat in Google Messages yesterday to try it out, and this morning I texted her. She usually turns off mobile data transfer at night, so I expected my message to just send as an SMS, but it didn't! I know I can manually switch it off and send an SMS, but what's the point of that if I can't even tell if my message was delivered at all. Is that a bug or is it supposed to be that stupid? I didn't disable the 'resend as SMS' setting [link] [comments] |
How do I disable deep scanning? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:25 AM PDT I used to be able to install humble bundle games no problem. But recently every time I try to install one I see a deep scanning notification, her scan fails, and the installation is cancelled. I have followed Google advice and disabled play protect, to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to disable this "feature"? [link] [comments] |
