    Meera's Guide to Freeware Games

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 07:51 PM PDT

So once again, I've compiled all my previous guide into one with better formatting and stuff.

It's a good Metal Gear Solid wannabe. A third person infiltrating/sneaking/stealth game inspired by Metal Gear Solid 1. It nails the atmosphere as every moment feels thrilling enough but the game is a clunky mess with its terrible camera angles that makes it hard to sneak sometimes. The controls scheme somewhat improves as the series goes on but I felt there's still room for improvements. The visuals are palatable though as it feels inspired from MGS1 and 2 sometimes.

To make it short, it's frustrating. The game's visuals looks like it's from early N64 era. The controls sucks as it gives you two separate sliders with the horizontal slider for shifting the camera sideways and the vertical slider, where sliding upwards is the "forward" and while in the battle mode, sliding downwards is attacking the enemies. It feels frustrating but the gameplay is satisfying for a short time since as time goes on, you need to grind for gold to purchase upgrades and to expand your army. And I mean you need to grind a lot since the game would become harder as you leveled up from being lowly mercenary to becoming a king. The game's shortcoming is justified though, seeing that it's released in 2012. Probably the earliest Mount and Blade clone on mobile.

Basically Cytus but the music is free. It's community made music game where you can share or find levels. Probably the best rhythm game on playstore.

Good visuals and controls. I can't say much about the physics since I don't play sports videogames that much or any sports in general but so far, it's good.

The gameplay is palatable but the camera is wonky sometimes. The visuals and controls are passable though, nothing to write home about.

The game is fun and the art is cute. It's basically Bookworm Adventure but with calculator instead of dictionary. The UI however, still has rooms for improvements.

One of the few Battle Royale games that doesn't have any microtransactions. The visuals, camera and controls are good but the content is scarce that leave much to be desired.

games with levels have to be stopped

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 06:38 AM PDT

I'm not talking about story games that have levels I'm talking about Voodoo and other game developers that make simple games and make twenty levels that just repeat over and over and never get harder in difficulty. they always seem to have hundreds of 5-star reviews but when you actually read them they are all 1-star. And they always heavily advertise.

it just seems like a cookie-cutter formula to make a lot of money without investing time in the game because they know someone will play for two hours watch tons of ad because after every round there are always ads (I don't mind ads, I understand that they are needed to keep games free but not every 10 seconds) and then the user will delete the app because it gets boring fast.

My theory is the game companies realized the success of endless simple games (like flappy bird, rider, etc..) because people would play them for a while because they wanted to get a higher score than friends but these games weren't making enough money for these companies because rounds were longer and therefore they would have fewer ads so they converted the games into levels so they can have an ad every ~20 seconds as opposed to every ~2 minutes, but they realized that people didn't like them as much so they bought hundreds of fake reviews and heavily marketed the games in the hope that people would play for a solid 2 hours then delete.

    TLDR level games = bad

    Underrated indie games

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 02:23 AM PDT

These games have little to no IAPs and are F2P. If you hate ads, just play without wifi or data.

    -They Came from the Sea

It's a simple twin stick shooter that's really fast paced. It's not a big game or anything. Just a simple twin stick you can pick up and play for 10 minutes or an hour.

    -Masked

This is a 3D roguelike game that seems kind of unfinished but fun and well made. The devs add new content to it from time to time but in it's current state, I'd say the game is good enough.

    -Starrows

This is a 2D RTS with slight moba mechanics. There's no story or campaign. You just set different difficulties for each game. You can choose a hero, choose a starting buff that affects your units , and then choose a map where you want to play. The game allows you to build different structures like a normal RTS game. Barracks will auto train units and the units will go out on a specific lane where the only thing left for you to do is upgrade your units, make more structures, and clear lanes using your hero.

    -One Bit Adventure

It's a roguelike game that's still very shallow when it comes to content. The gameplay is fun but due to the lack of content, gameplay becomes repetitive after a while. The game requires minimal strategy though so I guess ot compensates for the reptitive gameplay.

    -Turretz

Turretz by 111% is a "shoot 'em' up" of sorts. You start out as a planet attaching different guns to yourself and fight off seemingly endless waves of enemies. It also has one touch controls and retro graphics. The game itself is really simple but it's actually quite fun.

    -Dodge Blast

Another "shoot 'em' up" game where there are only two controls, dodge and blast. It's fast paced and simple. The game is seemingly endless but it doesn't easily get old . Like other shooter games it has different ships available , in game power-ups, and different bosses to make it more interesting.

    -Knight Brawl

I just started playing this and it's pretty good. It's a physics based brawler with a campaign mode, survival, and various challenges. There are a bunch of RPG elements in it and a couple more of different game modes. If you like games like "Wrassling" and "Gladihoppers" , this game is for you. However the only flaw I find is that in certain devices, the game can have FPS drops when there are more than 3 fighters on screen despite the game using only minimal memory on your phone and having pixel graphics.

    -Fast Food Rampage

FFR is a retro twin stick shooter where you play as a clown feeding junkfood to vegans and wreaking havoc in the city. What more do I need to say? Seriously though, the game is pretty fun. Similar to most of the games I put in here, it has good pixel graphics. The gameplay is addictive since there are a lot of weapons and power ups which are all pretty fun to use. There are also boss fights to make it more challenging. I forgot if there werw any IAPs in the game, it probably has some but it's most likely for the customizability of the character.

    -Ninja Tobu

NT is an endless platformer where you play as a ninja that can slow time. The game only has swipe controls and is played in portrait mode. It has a lot of customization options and challenges but I found myself playing endless mode over and over again before checking what else the game has to offer. It's really good.

    -Tiny Klepto

Tiny Klepto is a strategy game similar to sneak thief. It has point and click mechanics and has good retro graphics.

    -Werewolf Tycoon

This is a small retro game where you hide in the bushes and eat unsuspecting victims. The controls are pretty simple (you only have to tap left and right and at a target) and the game is packed with light humor. It's an arcade game that's easy to pick up and play.

    -Heroism

Heroism is an rpg that's on early access. This game just came out pretty recently so it's not that polished. It's an open world retro RPG where you can pick a class, travel and take on quests, customize your character, and all that stuff you can find on RPGs like Eternium or Exiled Kingdoms. There are two methods of combat. One is not that good (you use a joystick and tap an enemy to attack) the second is the same except there is no auto attack (slightly better especially for certain classes). It's not that good yet but it has potential so I suggest keep an eye on it because it might be better soon.

    -Crystal Kill

Is a defense game (?). I don't know what genre it belongs to tbh. But the gameplay is that you control a source and you hold a button where you have to release it at a certain point of time to produce a unit. The longer you hold the button, the stronger the unit will become. There are also three lanes where you can direct where a unit will go. Where it will procede and destroy the enemy source.

    -King Crusher Roguelike

Is a strategy roguelike RPG. You collect heroes with different passive abilities, you manage your party, and you set out on a quest where there will sometimes be choice based situations. The combat is simple but gets complicated based on the enemy patterns and what units you have. The best way to describe the combat is that it's like a simultaneous chess RPG.

    Solar Ascension

SA is an indie sci-fi twin stick shooter inspired by danmaku with extremely fast paced gameplay.

    Blood Arena

Is a 3D survival hack and slash game. The game doesn't have a story or anything. But it does have a lot of skills which are fun to use and a slight customization system.

    [request] 1 phone multiplayer games

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 05:32 AM PDT

Hello, I want to ask you guys some recommendations about multiplayer games that can be played in just 1 phone. It doesnt matter if theyre online/offline, just need to be able to play in person, with more people sharing the same phone. I dont know if its possible to play games connecting multiple controllers or if its that completely impossible tho.

I dont need an specific genre, I like every almost type of game, but avoid things like classic Chess or classic Card games unless theyre something revolutionary, like Uno, for example.

Paid or free, I dont mind

A nice example would be Worms, something I can play with my friends in person when I travel or when Im out with spare time

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 09:01 AM PDT

Been playing the last 2 days heroic Magic duel. I like the game but i dont see alot of it on the internet. Now is my question. Is it worth investing time and money on the game? Or should i go back to a similiar game like clash royale? ( or other title i havent played yet)

    Thanks in advance.

Games similar to Crush Them All?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:24 AM PDT

I genuinely enjoy the concelt of CTA, but I'm looking for different alternatives. The concept of the game is something I wanna dig into, with the afk and levelling, also the ascension factor, but I'm also not sure if I dig CTA enough to devote to it. Any similar game recommendations would be awesome!

[Request] looking for more idle rpgs, not time intensive.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:16 AM PDT

I recently went to idle games because i realized how much time I was wasting on grinding.

The first 2 games I liked were AFK Arena by Lillith games and Idle Heroes: Heroes vs Zombies by Moon Studios.

I unloaded AFK Arena last month because the game was getting way too time intensive. In the beginning, I could get all the dailies done in 20 minutes for 4 accounts. After a while, it turned into an hour each per day as new sub-games, more guild fights, more attempts started to really kill the point of an idle game.

Idle battles was really perfect, i could do everything for 2 accounts in less than an hour per day. But they upgraded to a new version that now takes less than 10 minutes, with nothing to do but wait for gold/xp.

So Im looking for another idle game that doesnt take a lot of time investment, but everything can be done in less than an hour per day, but busy enough to have a non-minimal progress.

I would prefer if the setting was medival, marvel/dc comics, or mechs.

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Looking for a Ninja game

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 01:30 AM PDT

Recently I saw a mobile game with similar gameplay as Shadow Fight 3 but instead graphics looked like Ghost of Tsushima (PS4 exclusive) so it had a very artistic style. There was a ninja fight scene so any opinions which game it can be?

Looking for MMOG with a strategy element, but without fast-paced action

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 05:24 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I've been browsing this subreddit and it seemed like the right place to ask this question. I'm looking for a strategy game where you can build an empire, team,... ( anything really) and use it to battle/compete with other players. Nothing with fast-paced action, more of a click-and-wait type game. There are a lot of options out there, but most of them are pay-to-win. Which beats the purpose of gaming, I feel. Can anyone guide me? Thanksss!

Best Steam Link games that work well on a phone? With or without physical controller

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 03:56 PM PDT

As the title, I was wondering what Steam games work well on an Android phone either with or without a controller. And by that I mean on a reduced screen without problems

And if anyone has a suggestion for a good controller with a mount that works with a Note 10, I'm all ears!

Team Tactic RPG's with taming/capturing mechanic instead of gacha?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 02:54 AM PDT

    Hey!

I am looking for games where you collect many characters/monsters (like Disney Arena, Star Wars Heroes, Marvel Strike Froces....) but instead of obtaining them through gachas or purchases, you get them in a traditional Pokemon way (fight against another monster and tame/capture him to add him to your team), even if it is really a grind process.

Any suggestion? Only one I know is Pokemon GO.
