Fossil Sport watch on sale for $99 Posted: 09 Jan 2020 11:59 AM PST Saw this today. Original price is $275 although it's been on sale for $150 for a while I think. I hear the battery life isn't all that great but, just thought I'd share. I think best buy is selling them for the same price https://www.fossil.com/us/en/products/fossil-sport-smartwatch-43mm-black-silicone-sku-ftw4019p.html [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Jan 2020 02:43 PM PST NOTE: I originally posted this on r/PickAnAndroidForMe, forgot to post it here and made a few edits. I know it's 2020, but I just wanted to sum up the best phones of last year. Also, sorry if I don't do a great job of addressing Chinese manufacturers like Xiamoi because I'm from the States. The Best Samsung: In 2019, Samsung's lineup became very complex. The flagship devices included the S10e, S10, S10+, S10+ 5G, Note 10, Note 10+, Note 10+ 5G, as well as the newly announced S10 Lite and Note 10 Lite. The S10e quickly became a favorite for many because of its small form factor, a fingerprint reader on the side, a headphone jack, and a flat screen. The Note 10 and Note 10+ omitted the headphone jack, with the Note 10 also getting rid of expandable storage. This came as a surprise to many, considering that the Note is supposed to be a no-compromise flagship. However, the Note 10 was a great way for users to get the Note experience in a smaller form factor. 2019's A-series lineup finally competed with other Chinese manufacturers in the budget and midrange range and made up most of their sales. Due to their success, they introduced a few models in NA. OnePlus: 2019 was another great year for OnePlus, but just like Samsung, they also confused their lineup. In some regions, only the 7 Pro, 7 Pro 5G, and 7T were available, but in other regions, the 7, 7T Pro, and 7T Pro McLaren Edition (5G) were also there. The 7 Pro was a more expensive, but perhaps the best phone OnePlus ever made (and arguably the best phone of the year) with the notchless, 90 Hz display and buttery-smooth performance with the S855 and clean OS. The 7 Pro became an even better deal when the price was cut to only $500. The 7T was said to be an amazing midrange phone. It had a flat, FHD+ display with a notch, but kept the 90 Hz. It came with the slightly faster S855+ and had a macro camera and faster charging to boot than the 7 Pro. When it launched, it was priced $100 less than the 7 Pro as well. Google: The success of the Pixel 3a and 3a XL was one of the best this year. At a fraction of the cost of its flagship counterparts, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL kept the same cameras, meaning they blew past their competition in camera performance. It also came with increased battery life and a headphone jack, a rarity in 2019. Xiaomi: The big hit in 2019 was Xiaomi's Redmi lineup, a midrange-priced lineup with flagship-like performance. The Redmi K20 Pro was hailed as one of the best low midrange phones of the year, packing the innards of flagship devices but at the fraction of the cost. Realme: One of 2019's success stories was Realme. A separate branch created by Oppo soon became a favorite. Realme directly competed with the Redmi lineup and the X2 Pro was arguably an even better value over the K20 Pro with a 90 Hz screen and 50W SuperVOOC fast charging courtesy of Oppo. The Busts Google: Google is the only brand to make it onto both lists. Although its budget lineup was a success, the Pixel 4 and 4 XL was the complete opposite. With a design reminiscent of 2017 and terrible battery life on the 4 with only 2800 mAh. The 4 and 4 XL's cameras were surpassed by the competition, namely the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Project Soli was mostly a gimmick, and the high expectations held upon Google meant that it was the biggest bust of the year. LG: LG had been doing terribly the last couple of years, and 2019 was no different. The G8 ThinQ had a flagship-like price with nothing to differentiate itself from the competition. The V50 ThingQ was a bit better, but still couldn't compete in 2019. The dual-screen was more of a gimmick rather than anything else. Huawei: Huawei didn't suffer from bad hardware like Google and LG. Rather, it suffered from bad software. A ban on Huawei in the US meant that no US company could with Huawei, including Google. That meant that Huawei phones didn't have Google Play Services, which meant no Play Store. The Mate 30 Pro was one of the best pieces of hardware, but Huawei's App Galley couldn't hold a candle to the Play Store. Folding Phones This year, we saw two folding phones available for mass market (The Surface Duo was announced last year but is coming this year). The Galaxy Fold and Motorola Razr were two completely different takes on folding phones. The Galaxy Fold was the size of a regular phone that opened up to a tablet-sized display with flagship performance. On the other hand, the Razr was the size of a flip phone that opened up to the size of a regular phone, making it much more compact than any phone available today. However, it size limited it from having top-of-the-line performance. Both are expensive, with the Razr coming in at $1500 and the Fold at $1980. Let's see where 2020 takes us. Let me know your thoughts in the comments! EDIT: Asus also made great phones this year! [link] [comments]
