[Show & tell] What is your Android TV's up time so far since last reboot? Posted: 29 Nov 2019 07:20 AM PST Mi Box (Oreo): ~56 days (https://postimg.cc/4mFsdSFZ) Shield TV 2017 (Pie): ~58 days (https://postimg.cc/1V31RGGf) Both boxes are fairly stable lately without any noticeable slowdown. Both are loaded with many apps & games with adoptable storage and used regularly for video streaming and some gaming (Mi Box is mostly limited to 2D games and emulators). Mi Box used to have occasional wakeup issue due to losing pairing with remote. But with Wakelock fix, I am always able to wake it up now with casting from phone. Shield TV used to experience rare auto-reboot once every few weeks when adoptable storage is unmounted. This hasn't happened since the Android Pie update. Please share your experience, preferably with screenshot. [link] [comments]

Good paid/free alternatives to Morpheus TV for Android TV box? Posted: 29 Nov 2019 05:11 AM PST Hi ... Anyone know a good alternative to Morpheus TV for my android TV box? I've tried TeaTV but it stopped working on the second day .... my Android TV box is the Xiaomi Mi Box S ... I already subscribe to Amazon Prime and Netflik and can subscribe to something else also that compliments those two ... I use it mainly for TV shows .... thanks for any good suggestions :) [link] [comments]
Here's how to check if your built in chromecast supports 4k Posted: 28 Nov 2019 10:27 AM PST Enable stats for nerds on your youtube app on your phone from which you are going to cast to the tv. Then cast any 4k video to the chromecast. Select the 3dots and select stats for nerds again. The tv will now show the current and optimal resolution of the video. If you have a uhd Netflix sub, you can use the video testing patterns to achieve the same. [link] [comments]
Disable Play Movies Source on Philips TV Guide? Posted: 29 Nov 2019 12:34 AM PST I just picked up a philips 43pus7334. I'm coming from a 43pus6401 which also ran android tv but i'm loving the jump up to this model so far, much faster and more responsive and makes me a lot more confident about android tv as its now not as sluggish as I thought it was. However, I have one issue which is doing my head in and I can't figure out. My TV remote has a button called "TV". When I press this it goes to the Philips TV program and plays the google play trailers channel. I am using a HDHomerun to get my other TV channels and I can see them fine in the philips tv app. However, even if the last channel I was playing was a HDHomeRun channel and I go to the Android TV homescreen then press the TV button again, it will go back to the Google Play Movies trailer channel again. No matter what I do, whenever I press that TV button, it goes to the play moves trailer channel. How do I disable this channel from showing up at all? Things I have tried so far: Disabled the play movies application - This did not remove the channel. When I press the tv button, it still goes to that channel, the only difference is it won't actually play any video or audio, just a black screen. Locked the channel in the philips tv guide - This didn't stop it from defaulting to it either, it still opens up and just asks me for a code now Before anyone suggests live channels, I am already using it and have disabled it in there. I don't have this issue in live channels. However, pressing the tv button does not open live channels, it opens the philips tv app, so I want to get that working right so I can just press TV and it will go to my last hdhomerun channel rather than going to the play channel, and then I have to change the source to hdhomerun to get the channels I actually want. How do you view app update notes in the Play store now? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 07:56 PM PST You used to be able to do it by viewing the app's description and scrolling to the bottom under WHAT'S NEW. Now, you can't even do that. I'm not sure if I feel comfortable turning on auto-updates without knowing what each update adds or fixes, especially when, for example, NVIDIA has shipped bad versions of its NVIDIA Games apps before. In fact I'd like to disable that giant text entirely. [link] [comments]
Picture-in-Picture Not Supported by Apps Posted: 28 Nov 2019 09:29 PM PST Google added Picture in Picture feature into the code of Android TV for version 7.0. Now here we are over 2 years later and still to my knowledge none of the major streaming providers have added this feature to their app. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and not even Google's own YouTube or Google Play Movies. Does anyone know of any apps on Android TV that have this feature? Also I encourage all of you right now who want this feature go to Google Play Store on your phone, go to "my apps and games" then go to "library" tab. Then scroll the list and review each one of the Android TV versions of these apps complaining about no picture in picture. Also for good measure you can get their support email there too so you can email them. It seems these major streaming companies will only provide it unless we start demanding it. Android 8 on Philips 49PUS7503 all of a sudden slow Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:34 AM PST Hey guys, Not sure if it's the appropriate thread but since this morning, My Philips TV, model 49PUS7503, bought last year, is acting up. Navigation in the menu of the TV (ran on Android 8) is laggy. Streaming on Youtube, Prime, & Netflix is laggy. So far I have reinstalled the whole TV (but yet it still has the latest update, dated from after the purchase, so it's not a "real" factory reset...). Not sure what to do next. No update available at this point, no idea if I should dig into what's slowing down that TV. When plugged my PS4, the image is alright, so it "seems" to be a software problem. But I'm stuck. Not sure what action should I take next, or even if I'm in the right subreddit. Thank in advance. Edit: Called Philips Aftersale, the person seemed to be competent, asking the right questions. They will send a guy. I dont know what for. But a guy will come. I dont know when. Edit2: molotov was the app slowing down the whole tv. Thanks /u/sawlight for pointing it out. I added it after the factory reset cause it was the only app i used beside the included youtube, prime and netflix. I called off the technicians [link] [comments]

TCL TV running Android 9: what common file systems are supported for USB drives? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:15 PM PST As above. Additionally, is ext4 and btrfs supported (since these are native to the linux)? I'm only reading from the USB drive and --not-- writing to it. Thanks [link] [comments]
