How exactly does "hey google" work on phones? Posted: 13 Nov 2019 12:20 AM PST Like do you just say it and it opens up? That seems like a big privacy problem. Whats stopping strangers from saying hey google(random command) on someones phone? [link] [comments] |
social.spacetoday.xyz popups in apps like instagram, snapchat or just randomly Posted: 13 Nov 2019 09:23 AM PST I suspect it is a virus, although a scan with Malwarebytes did not show anything. Only real suspect is the app "rescue cut" from an instagram ad but I just uninstalled it, waiting to see if it had any effect. [link] [comments] |
Play store downloads app updates quickly but install takes forever Posted: 13 Nov 2019 09:02 AM PST I'm experiencing this issue with a lot of different apps. Also, when downloading new apps the download can take forever to begin. I am now waiting multiple days to get anything from the Play store. [link] [comments] |
Reddit is my last hope. Phone won't boot and I can't figure out what to do. Posted: 12 Nov 2019 11:59 PM PST My phone is a Xiaomi MI A2 and have had it since late January. After class yesterday I put my phone in the pocket of my jacket to clear my hands so I could tie my shoes. When I stood up again and pulled out my phone I seem to have turned it off with my pocket and didn't think it was a big deal. Tried to turn it on and I got directly to picture 1 (link below). After spamming retry a good 20-25 times I got to picture 2 (link below), here I also spam retry a dozen times but nothing happens. After reading up on simular issues I figured out how to get to fastboot, seen in picture 3 (link below), but nothing happens once I see that communist bunny. I have to sit and stare at that bunny for a couple minutes and then phone turns off again. I don't get a menu or any choice in fastboot, as every guide I've now read states I should get. Plugging the phone to my computer also doesn't do anything besides my computer finding something called Android, but I can't extract anything from it or backup any of my files. I have contacted multiple phone repair companies in my closest city in case it would be a quick fix for them and I could just sweep by them. But according to them, Xiaomi in general isn't fully 'legally' imported in Norway and therefore we have no actual Xiaomi experts here, nor is Xiaomi officially in any service repair shop. So no one can help me there either. I also don't fully understand how I've gotten into this mess only by spending a minute to tie my shoes. I can't access my bank account or my Steam account because I need a form of second login from phone for security reasons. Reddit is my last resort before I guess I have to factory reset it before Friday. If that doesn't solve it then I will send it back to the retailer I bought it from (Komplett.no). Sorry for any typos as English is not my first language. Really hope someone here knows what to do. [link] [comments] |
When I have two apps open in split screen, how can I close them at once? Posted: 13 Nov 2019 05:17 AM PST |
Posted: 13 Nov 2019 10:59 AM PST Hello all, Maybe someone can provide some insight for me. When I log in to a new app (examples: Hinge or Viber) - they often send a text code verification. Even though the app itself does not have access to SMS (I verified in the settings) it is still able to automatically detect that SMS message. Can anyone explain why this happens? I have the Pixel 3 if that matters. Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Does anyone have this YT problem? Posted: 13 Nov 2019 09:37 AM PST Like everytime I'm on my Wi-Fi or data, the YouTube video will load the first few seconds and then just completely stop? Like the Ads etc load perfectly fine but the videos itself do not. Is this a bug or something? [link] [comments] |

Do WiFi only galaxy tabs have GPS? Posted: 13 Nov 2019 08:46 AM PST A little hard to find any information on this topic without going to a store. At work we are considering giving our truck drivers tablets instead of basic phones. Just wondering if the WiFi only Galaxy Tab A 8.0" 2019 model has GPS? Or do I need to purchase the LTE model for GPS? I thought GPS was separate from the LTE chip, but I'm not sure. I also don't know if I can use the GPS without being on an active WiFI connection. Thanks for the help. [link] [comments] |
Manually changing Chrome location Posted: 13 Nov 2019 04:42 AM PST Hello, I am living in Western Asia for a short period of time. Because chrome knows my location (even after turning off location permissions on my phone) every time I Google search dates come up in a completely different calendar than what we use in North America. Advertisements are also tailored towards my location. Is it possible to manually set my location to North America so it corrects these issues? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Why do so many people prefer an empty home screen? Posted: 13 Nov 2019 08:16 AM PST I can see the draw to the pretty visuals of a nice wallpaper, but when it comes to phone functionality, doesn't having your 10 or 15 most used apps available at one click on your home screen make more sense? I know because of launchers, you can technically set your dock apps to have "swipe up" functionality which launches another app, which gives you more access. Personally, I don't do this, because I accidentally launch those all the time when I'm trying to open the app drawer. What do you guys generally prefer for your home screens? [link] [comments] |

Unknown icon appeared on the home screen of my Lenovo Tab E7 tablet: what is it? Posted: 13 Nov 2019 04:26 AM PST ResolvedThe unknown app was Lenovo Entertainment, which can be turned off from the home screen settings. Thanks @rumourmaker18 and @markinmlb for the suggestion. Yesterday I turned on my Lenovo Tab E7 tablet and an unknown icon appeared at the left edge of the home screen, you can see it in the first screenshot. Swiping the unknown icon to the right brings up a screen that looks like the home page of YouTube as in the second screenshot. Tapping the icon of a head with headphones at the YouTube screen opens a Lenovo account sign in/sign up dialog. The YouTube screen slides onto the main home screen from the virtual screen immediately to the left of the main home screen, not accessible so far on my Lenovo Tab E7, where Pixel devices have the Google Discover feed. Along with the unknown icon, when turning on the device yesterday I got an Android system dialog requesting from the Lenovo launcher permission to manage my phone calls, which I declined (and besides, I have no SIM card). Another dialog, apparently from Lenovo, requested permission to send them data to improve Lenovo products. I declined this permission too. What app is this? Is it Lenovo bloatware installed by some kind of system update? Or maybe something malicious? [link] [comments] |
Android Assistant asking for permissions repeatedly? Posted: 13 Nov 2019 04:18 AM PST Hi guys. Could use some help with an issue I've been having lately. I'm running Android 9 on a OnePlus 6, and about once a day or so, when I try to ask Google Assistant a question, the answer is "Sure. Let me get some information so I can help you with that." It then gives me a button to click through to a screen that explains what permissions it needs, as it would during initial setup, but it already has those permissions and thus never actually prompts for them. Usually, once I have gone through these screens, Assistant will work normally for a day or so, but there have been times where I got these prompts twice in a row. Any ideas what might be causing this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Nov 2019 07:59 AM PST Two days ago my Pixel rebooted (unknown why) and has been stuck in a bootloop ever since. From my research I should be able to sideload the OS, preserving my data, and allowing me to enter some form of active status. Current Problem: I cannot get adb to recognize my device. When I run adb devices it returns a list of nothing. Furthermore, my efforts to install the drivers have failed. Here is what I have tried thus far
What can I do to get the drivers installed? [link] [comments] |
Zopo F5 stuck on loading screen Posted: 12 Nov 2019 07:26 PM PST As the title says it, I have a Zopo F5 smartphone that 'died'. When I turn it on, all it does it the loading screen animation (little blue balls that form the word Zopo) over and over again. Do I have to flash it? How do I do that? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 13 Nov 2019 06:54 AM PST My s9+ is at 77% while the apps used in setting says that it lost 15% battery. By that logic it should have be 85%. Could there be a virus or something using up the 8% that seems to have disappeared? Are the settings inaccurate? [link] [comments] |

I have to manually change my USB settings for android auto every time I start the car. Posted: 13 Nov 2019 03:20 AM PST Every time I get in a work vehicle (Honda civic) I have to manually change my USB settings to "USB tethering" (or switch to "controlled by connected device" for the car and phone (galaxy s10) to start talking. Is there a way I can set this to default? It's really annoying, and it's just suddenly started doing it. It used to work fine. The car is less than 6 months old, and it worked fine for the first 4-5 months. [link] [comments] |
