Posted: 13 Mar 2022 02:11 PM PDT Perhaps this is old news, or just a lucky fluke on my end, but I am now able to enable RCS/Chat features on my pixel 5 with the RCS/Chat number NOT being designated as the data sim. This was one of the factors preventing me from combining my work number and my personal number on the same device as recently as 4 months ago. The way it was set up before seemed to be that only the number designated as the data sim would have the option of enabling RCS/Chat. Has anyone else had this work for them, or has this change been known and I just missed it? I'm on a Pixel 5 in the USA with my sim being Google Fi and work being Verizon by the way. Is face down wireless charging a possibility ? Posted: 12 Mar 2022 03:43 AM PST So I was recently contemplating about the hole in the back of the Pixel 5's aluminium back for wireless charging. I would really like to see a phone with a metal back like we did in the iPhone 5-7 era. Obviously the problem with a metal back is wireless charging. 1) So I was wondering if we can have face down wireless charging ? Is it scientifically possible ? The phone screen is made of glass so I guess there would be no problem with wireless charging. I know a bit about electromagnetism, so would the magnetic field of the wireless charger interfere with the electric current of the phone display, and thereby damage the display ? 2) If a metal backed phone had the ability to wirelessly charge face down, would you buy into that feature ? Obviously you wouldn't be able to use the phone when it is wirelessly charging, since it is face down. Would this bother you ? Note: I am talking about having the wireless charging coil behind the screen, and not behind the back of the phone as we do in almost all phones. If the coil was at the back of the phone, it is obvious that face down wireless charging won't work properly due to the all the electronics in between the coil and the wireless charger.
