This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:

    • Your device.

    • Your carrier.

    • Your device's manufacturer.

    • An app

    • Any other company

    Rules

    1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer.

    2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars.

    3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on.

    (Discussion - Multiplatform Ecosystems) Iphone->Mac vs Android/Google->Websites

    Posted: 27 Feb 2022 09:50 AM PST

    Discussion

    • iPhones sync to Macs/ipads, etc in the Apple system. You can continue to type something on iphone and then continue on your mac. Which is great, but you need their hardware.

    • Android (Using Google apps which are typically defaults or preloaded) you can message/take notes/look at photes/etc on your phone and then look at those same things on ANY computer if logged into Google account.

Why is the Google method not way more popular or seen as the superior platform (IN THIS REGARD, not in general). Doesn't being able to message on your phone, then log into a website on ANY DEVICE, trump needing an iphone and then your OWN mac (assuming you need that log in and must be your computer)

Thoughts? I've never used iphones and macs, so I'm sure im missing tons of other seamless transitions. But the Google products on phones and using them on ANY computer seems like a massive advantage. I'm sure im missing things. but I get not everyone uses Google apps, but assuming most do, which all their apps have billions of installs, etc.

Curious what peoples thoughts are? I feel like the VAST majority of talk is about Apples ecosystem, but you never really hear the rebuttle of Google services being an option. Which I find strange.

(Personal experience I've seen lots of people blown away that you can take photos, and then go to the website and see them instantly. I've done that multiple times over the holidays where everyone can see, etc). And messaging on my work computer using messages.com is great.)

Does touch sampling rate even matter?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2022 03:47 AM PST

I have seen threads where people were disappointed with their phone's sampling rate(of 120Hz). I didn't even know/notice what it was until I saw the threads. It looks more like a marketing tactic to me (something similar to not noticing a lot of difference between 240Hz monitor and 360Hz monitor). Correct me if I am wrong. Should I be worried about touch sampling as a casual user(casual gaming?

For everyone having problems with their Exynos S22.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2022 01:22 PM PST

I also had an extremely laggy and terrible experience out of the box, but I found some settings that really help alot.

First find the power saving settings and make sure everything is turned off. I had my cpu limited to 70% speed.

then go to battery settings, more battery settings and set processing speed to high or maximum.

Changing these settings has made it feel almost as snappy as my old zenphone 8.

    Hope this helps!

I am using a Xiaomi 11t in the US, ask me anything about the device

    Posted: 26 Feb 2022 09:54 AM PST

I decided to purchase and use a Xiaomi 11t (global rom) in the US on T-Mobile.

Some initial thoughts after using it for a few days.

    1. The screen uses a really low frequency for PWM and it gives me horrible eye strain to use it. You can enable DC dimming but you loose out on the 120hz.

    2. The screen is nice aside from the horrible headache.

    3. 1200U dimension chip is super fast and quick. No issues with lag or slowing down.

    4. Audio is pretty nice with the dual speakers. Gets loud enough and sounds good in a basement while painting.

    5. Cameras are... Ok? No OIS (which is good if you drive a motorcycle) but they're perfectly usable for some shots. Macro is actually quite useable.

    6. Battery life is top notch with 120hz. Definitely a two day phone.

    7. Calls are good too. VoLTE and WiFi calling in the US. LTE bands are good too for T-Mobile.

    8. It's a very big phone. I have large hands but it's almost too large for me.

    9. MIUI is uh... Not bad. Lots of bloat but also useable apps. No ads that I've encountered yet.

Would I recommend this phone? No. The screen will give you a headache. Already in the process of selling or returning it.
