5 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 204) Posted: 28 Jan 2022 04:00 AM PST It's Friday yet again, and that means it's time for episode 204 of my weekly mobile game recommendations based on the most interesting games I played and that were covered on MiniReview this week :) Welcome back. Support these posts (and YouTube content + development of MiniReview) on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/NimbleThor <3 This episode includes an awesome strategy game perfectly ported from PC to mobile, an almost purr-fect arcade casual game with real-time PvP, a new arcade racing game, a humorous board strategy game, and an adventure game about a charismatic lawyer. Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 204 weeks ago here. Let's get to the games:Tropico [Game Size: 2.5 GB] ($11.99)Genre: Strategy / City-Building - Offline Playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review by SugarRigby: Tropico is a city-building simulation game in which we take on the role of a newly elected "El Presidente", the great ruler of the underdeveloped Caribbean island "Republica das Bananas". Beyond the standard city-building features, Tropico has us freely control El Presidente and rule the island as either a benevolent leader or hostile dictator, imposing laws, declaring policies, and using every dirty rule in the book to beat the game's objectives before we run out of time and get deposed. The game features a variety of levels with unique maps and fun objectives that range from making the population happy to turning the island into a tropical paradise for tourists, depositing enough stolen money into our Swiss bank account so that we can peacefully retire, and many others. Tropico for mobile is a port of Tropico 3 for PC, and it runs smoothly, has nicely detailed environments, and a great sound design. The primary downside is that the UI feels a bit too big, and the controls take some time to get used to. The publisher, Feral Interactive, is also known to officially support only a small list of devices, so it's crucial to verify if your phone is compatible before buying. At the end of the day, Tropico is an easy pick for any city-building simulation fan, and although it costs $11.99, it occasionally goes on sale for only $2,99. On Android, there's also a free demo version you can use to test device compatibility. Check it out on Google Play: Here Check it out on MiniReview:: Here Cat Jump [Total Game Size: 298 MB] (free)Genre: Arcade / Casual - Offline + Online Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Full tl;dr review by CaptainQQ: Cat Jump is an addicting casual arcade game where we jump from side to side of a tower to collect coins, save our friends, and prepare food – all while defeating bosses or even defeating our friends in real-time PvP. We play as a cat who can triple jump, cling on to walls, and survive being shot out of a cannon, which are abilities we use in the main game mode to scale an infinitely tall tower while avoiding death traps and gathering as many collectibles as possible. Unlike most simple casual games of this type, Cat Jump features multiple other game modes as well, like a cooking mode where the collectibles are replaced with various ingredients that must be gathered in a certain order or a boss mode where we dodge an enemy cat while grabbing items to damage it. The controls are tight, but the levels are deviously full of traps, making the gameplay challenging. While the music can get a little repetitive, we can, fortunately, collect many different level designs, which change up the hazards, music, and even the menu screen. There are also dozens of adorable cat characters to collect that range from princess cats to Squid Game-themed cats, each of which is full of personality and has a unique third-jump animation. The level designs and most cats are bought with in-game currency that we can buy more of through iAPs, but since they're purely cosmetic, they do not give any advantage. The only other iAP is a $2.99 purchase to remove the banners and short full-screen ads that often play after a game, but we can still watch incentivized ads to claim various rewards. Cat Jump is one of those rare arcade games that is simple, maddeningly addictive, near Purr-fect, and belongs in the same immortal genre as Flappy Bird. Check it out on Google Play: Here Check it out on MiniReview:: Tomorrow :) Pako 3 [Game Size: 260 MB] (Free)Genre: Arcade / Racing - Offline Playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review by NimbleThor: PAKO 3 is the latest entry in the popular cop-escape arcade racing series, and it moves away from the "survive as long as you can" endless nature of its predecessors, opting instead for a level-based system that introduces various game modes and objectives. Each level features a unique map and is unlocked by gathering stars from completing objectives in previous levels, such as surviving for a certain number of seconds or finishing races fast enough. Most levels have us escape the cops in a relatively small map - with more cops appearing the longer we survive - while other modes feature races against vehicles on a racetrack. Meanwhile, we gather gold by making other cars explode, which we then use to buy new vehicles with better stats. PAKO is difficult to review because everyone has different expectations for the series, with some preferring the hardcore first game and others loving PAKO 2's open-world mission-based system. PAKO 3 lands somewhere in-between. It isn't open-world, but it features more game modes and maps than the first PAKO game and includes a health bar that makes it less hardcore. What has remained the same throughout the series is its wacky and humorous gameplay, which in PAKO 3 presents itself through power-ups that spawn around the map, such as machine guns, airstrikes, or handy slow-motion effects. The art-style is simple but has a certain gritty appeal to it, the touch controls have us simply tap the left or right side to steer, and there is even Bluetooth controller support. PAKO 3 monetizes through relatively frequent ads, although these can be removed through a single $2.99 iAP. I personally enjoyed the new experience the game delivered, and I think you might as well - as long as you don't expect it to be the same as PAKO 2. Check it out on Google Play: Here Check it out on MiniReview:: Here The Captain is Dead [Game Size: 307 MB] ($9.99)Genre: Board / Strategy - Offline Playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review by Pete McD: The Captain Is Dead is a great adaptation of a turn-based strategy board game where we must desperately keep things together to avoid a horrible death. The only issue? We find ourselves in a spaceship under attack from aliens where everything is on fire and the captain indeed is dead. Thankfully, we have a crew of up to six members that we use to fix parts of the ship, deal with invaders, decode the dead captain's log, and generally try to stop everything from blowing up. In between each turn, there's an alert – and if we're really unlucky, a Red Alert – informing us about the next thing that is about to go wrong. And there are a lot of things that can go wrong…. Each crew member has different abilities and limited actions to take each turn, which makes it extremely hard to win even on the easier settings. There is definitely a roguelike vibe here and a lot of figuring out the gameplay by ourselves. It takes many failures before getting to grips with just the basics, but I loved this as it added to the chaos. The voice acting is hilarious and the graphics are very retro, although it may be hard to see details on a small screen. This is a single-player game, which is unusual for an adaptation of a multiplayer board game, but it's a sensible decision in this case, as it means the fast pace of the game doesn't get interrupted by having to wait for others to take their turn. The Captain is Dead is a $9.99 premium title with no ads or IAPs. The steep learning curve and high difficulty may put some players off, but although I have not won a single game to date, I have loved every minute of playing it. Check it out on Google Play: Here Check it out on MiniReview:: Here Devil's Attorney [Game Size: 368 MB] ($4.99)Genre: Strategy / Casual - Offline Playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review by AlexSem: Devil's Attorney is a fun adventure game about a charismatic lawyer waging fierce battles in the courtroom using his unsurpassable eloquence and various questionable methods. The game consists of a series of turn-based battles in which we spend action points to use humorous skills, such as "objection" and "ego boost", against our opponents: a prosecutor and his witness and evidence. Our goal is to reduce each opponent's health points to zero by dealing direct damage while at the same time providing enough defenses for our own character. Successfully winning a battle and accomplishing optional achievements grant us money we can use to buy furniture for our house, which in turn unlocks new skills and improves existing ones. While the gameplay itself is neither too complex nor deep, it's in the inter-battle story dialogues that this game truly shines. Our attorney constantly picks the most obvious villains to defend in the court and comes up with the most ridiculous stories to plead their innocence. His caustic conversations and long-running relationships with various prosecutors is a match made in heaven, and it creates one of the most hilarious experiences I've had on mobile. Devil's Attorney is sold for $4.99 without ads or iAPs. Despite being rather short and too simple at times, it can still be highly entertaining for anyone fond of high-quality casual mobile games. A review of a really good Rogue-like. Posted: 28 Jan 2022 09:38 AM PST Guidus. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.izzle.pixeldungeon If you like Hades, this one is for you. Apparently pretty recent, was trying random games on the play store, and this one surprised me genuinely. It's really really fun, and I spent hours on this one in the past few days. There are so many blessings, and so many different classes, each with unique skills, making every run an entirely different experience. Combat is what's interesting, it seemed too simple but I loved it because its so optimal for mobile and actually requires hella skill to master and get the timing right. It has a cool vague story line, you can figure it out by looking at monster/boss descriptions, I believe there will be a big update to expand upon it. Looking forward to it. It's free to play, so expect ads, but they aren't that bad really. They aren't forced, so they are pretty much optional, but quite optimal to progress faster. They are used to get items/coins for new charecters or leveling up ones you own. You can do everything without watching a single ad, but would have loved if there was a paying option to get the bonuses and remove the ads. Getting classes are like a small gacha, but it's pretty easy to get all of them pretty quickly. Leveling them tho requires some grinding Bosses are pretty cool, and quite hard actually and need a few tries to figure them out, but they get easy after a while. Balancing is where shit gets interesting, some classes are just insanely overpowered with the right blessings, and some blessings are pretty much insanely irritating, thankfully you can ban some of them. One blessing almost ruined the entire game for me. It increases ur attack but reverse your controls, so after finishing a run with it, I had to RE-LEARN the entire controls again, and ruined my next few runs. Fuck that. So yea, overall a fun game, and devs are bringing new shit pretty consistently, so it gets a 8/10 from me. Worth trying if you're a fan of the genre as there aren't many good ones on the store. Need For Speed Underground 2 PS2 on Xiaomi Pad 5 (Snapdragon 860) Posted: 28 Jan 2022 12:54 AM PST With the AetherSX2 emulator it's possible play this kind of games on Android Devices. This time I gave Need For Speed Underground 2 a try, and although it took me a long time to find the perfect settings, I managed to make the game run smoothly and lag-free. This is the most stable config, looking for a balance between performance and graphics (settings are at the beginning of the video). [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jan 2022 06:56 AM PST Looking for a game where you build some sort of empire/city/business/etc. Start small and slowly get bigger. I would prefer if there was no pvp and no p2w aspects outside of speeding up tasks. I don't mind long timers or energy systems. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Games similar to Angry Birds Epic Posted: 28 Jan 2022 11:00 AM PST A while back I played Angry Birds Epic RPG and I quite enjoyed it, but it has been shut down since 2021. I liked the handmade level based system, crafting, and not too bad wait times. Does anyone know of a similar turn based rpg that is still playable? Thanks! [link] [comments]

What is a good online battle game? Posted: 28 Jan 2022 09:36 AM PST Looking strictly for a mulit player online game you fight against other players 24/7. I did play a FPS game and can't remember what it was but wasn't enjoying it. Doesn't have to be a FPS type game, anything really. [link] [comments]
Online multiplayer game recommendations please Posted: 28 Jan 2022 03:01 AM PST 8Gb ram and good graphics. I am looking for online multiplayer Android games that I can play with my friend. We usually play shooting games but we are ready to try any new genre as well. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Looking for a game like D2 but on mobile Posted: 28 Jan 2022 08:26 AM PST Recently got a new phone and been looking for games to play on it other then pokemon Go and some emulated 3ds/gba games/roms, but as of now I've grown tired of those and one of my most played games (that isn't on mobile) ever is destiny 2, over 1000 hours since I started playing 10 months ago . And now I'm looking for a similar experience on my mobile device so any recommendation would be greatly appreciated :) [link] [comments]

[REQUEST] Exploration and Character Growth games Posted: 27 Jan 2022 04:14 PM PST I'm looking for a game I can sink my teeth into periodically that focuses primarily on character growth and has some exploration. Little to no story is totally fine by me and is maybe even preferred. Lots of freedom is a plus too. Online and offline are both acceptable. The game I was considering first and foremost after looking around is RuneScape (old school or new) because it's chill and very open ended, but I also recall the progression being painfully slow and i'd like to do more than one thing per 15 minute play session. I don't want to play Genshin Impact. Some favorites of mine in a similar vein of mechanics: Quest 64, Ragnarok Online (OG, not the new ports), Dark Cloud, Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XV. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
The Top 10 Android MOBAs of 2022 (my research and predictions) Posted: 28 Jan 2022 05:01 AM PST tl;dr 1 - MOBAs might be my favorite game type so it was a lot of fun doing this research! Hope you guys enjoy. Here is my list for this years Top 10 MOBAs of 2022: Pokémon Unite, Catalyst Black, Auto Chess MOBA, Vainglory Allstars, Rocket League Sideswipe, Boom Beach Frontlines, King of Hunters, Wild Rift, Brawl Stars and Mobile Legends (Extras: Butter Royale, Modern Warships and Survival Heroes) (I give my reasons for choosing each one, so if one of these confuses you, make sure to read the post before raging 😂) Update on the original video; it now has over 130k view in less than 4 weeks. I credit a lot of this success to Reddit and the feedback I have gotten from this community. So thank you! tl;dr 2 - I made all of this with game footage into a short HQ video here https://youtu.be/3vnD7MB7v4o But for those of you who rather read, here is the video script: With the recent release of Google's game of the year award winner Pokémon Unite, 2022 is looking like a good year for the Mobile MOBA game genre. And there are even more good MOBAs coming out this year, some of which you probably haven't even heard of. The second game on the list is Catalyst Black. Formerly known as Project Spellfire, this game is the newest big move of Super Evil Megacorp who's only other game is Vainglory. Vainglory was/is a very successful MOBA on the phone with 10s of millions of downloads. I hesitate because after Rogue Games pulled their support for the game last March, the game's servers are overrun and the game is sometimes unplayable. Nevertheless, Catalyst Black is their new and exciting endeavor and it holds a ton of potential. They are calling the game a team based 10 v 10, drop-in drop-out, large-scale shooter and what that really means is that it is a moba map with your typical monsters and pvp choke points, but the scaling is set up so that you are not as disadvantaged when entering a game in the middle of it. Also, the devs claim that this new structure allows for twice the amount of action even though the matches are just half the normal length. This really caught my attention because that is exactly the kind of thing competitive mobile gamers like. These devs have already been forerunners for the mobile gaming industry with their first game so I am predicting they are about to do it again. The third game is Auto Chess MOBA. For those of you familiar with gaming history, this is hilarious because just 3 years ago, the Auto Chess genre was created as a gamemode within the moba game Dota 2. This spawned a trend in which all the big MOBA games started creating their own standalone games in the Auto Chess genre. Well now it is coming back full circle with the original auto chess publisher now creating a mobile MOBA game. Are they trying to start yet another trend? I guess time will tell. Regardless, Auto Chess MOBA looks like it is going to be amazing with the devs formally committing to zero pay to win aspects of the game. They even announced that all the champions will start off unlocked for everyone from the very beginning. This is unprecedented for the MOBA genre so I am really excited to see how it plays out. The fourth game on the list is Vainglory Allstars which is basically a more serious version of Supercell's Brawl Stars. Even though it is made by a different developer, Bazooka Tango did work with the developers of Vainglory to use the same game engine and all the characters in the game are from the original Vainglory. Unfortunately, right now the game has horrible reviews because the original Vainglory was discontinued and this new game does not play similarly. Simply put, this game is not a good alternative for the original, because it is not as competitive and doesn't utilize as much team strategy. That being said, if this is the type of game you are going for it is very well done and more competitive and skill based than it's other inspiration, Brawl Stars. If this is the type of game you're going for, don't be scared off by the bad reviews. The fifth game on the list is Rocket League Sideswipe. Honestly, I am surprised we didn't see this game a long time ago. In the last 7 years since Psyonix made the original Rocket League for the PC, there have been a half dozen cheap mobile versions of the game, but none of them have come close to capturing the beauty of Rocket League. Now generally, when people think of Rocket League they think of a sports game over a MOBA, and this game is definitely much higher on my top ten list on that genre, but since it is technically a MOBA and I think it will get a lot of hype this year, I thought it worth mentioning. If you want to know more details about this game, make sure to watch that video, but in short, Psyonix hired a AAA mobile game dev team to do a great job creating a mobile version of their game. The sixth game is Boom Beach Frontlines. Created by a Supercell subsidiary, Boom Beach. Frontlines is a 9v9 team shooter, with a focus on troops, vehicles, teamplay and tactics. I am personally adverse to games associated with Supercell because I think they started some of the negative trends with mobile gaming, but I recognize they are very good at keeping it simple where it counts. This game seems similar, boasting an integration of teamwork, tactics, and strategy supported by regular updates, tons of units, constant map rotations, and gameplay that rewards teamwork. They, of course, also add elements of paying to win as build your base, but their games usually have a good enough matchmaking system to keep it fun even if you have no chance at reaching the top of the leaderboards. The seventh game on the list is King of Hunters. Netease has been working on this game for 4 years and it is still in a closed beta, but it looks like it will finally come out this year! The first thing that is special about this game is that it combines MOBA with Battle Royale, which surprisingly works really well together. The time frame of the game types are similar and the aspect of leveling up really helps prevent someone from winning that spent the whole game hiding. The second unique aspect of this game is that it has two story buildings, which is unorthodox for MOBA games, and then they let you jump off those second stories which is pretty freaking amazing. And then the third unique aspect of this game is their game type where you fight mounted. Personally, I like the normal approach to MOBA better, but it is still a fun twist. The eighth game is Riot Game's Wild Rift. This game was my number one prediction last year on my Top Ten list over all genres and it did fantastic, getting the most competitive game award from Google Play, which is in my opinion, the highest honor a mobile game can get. The game is amazing. The developers did a great job of capturing everything that is good about league of legends, but translating and balancing it to work on a mobile platform. I don't think Wild Rift is going to get a ton of hype in 2022, there just aren't that many MOBA games coming out this year so this game found a place on the list again. The ninth game on the list is Brawl Stars. This is another classic that would not normally make this list if it weren't for the scarcity of 2022 MOBAs. But the game still has quite a bit of residual hype. A large part of this is because the developers diverted from their usual aggressive monetization schemes and gave room for free to play players to eventually catch up to those who bought the champions from the beginning. It still has quite a few pay-to-win elements, especially if you're just starting off, but their efforts to minimize the gap has kept a loyal player base. The last game is Mobile Legends. Speaking of a loyal player base, Mobile Legends might have the most loyal player base out of any MOBA in the world. I have never once been able to even mention MOBA in a video, without someone commenting about Mobile Legends. The fans know that the game was originally a copy of League of Legends, but even now that Wild Rift is out, they argue that Mobile Legends has surpassed its predecessor in capturing the true mobile MOBA experience. Even players that assumed Wild Rift would be better because of their old League of Legend days have found themselves coming back to Mobile Legends because it was the better fit. And if I have learned anything about gaming over the years, it is that if the devs have a loyal player base that is happy, all they have to do is not screw it up. Ok, so those are the top 10 Mobile MOBAs for 2022, but I do have 3 more honorable mentions for you. The second honorable mention is Modern Warships. I was first introduced to this game last year when they sponsored me to make a tutorial for the game. What seemed like a simple simulation turned out to be an incredibly complex game. If you watch the video I made, you will see that I grew a deep appreciation for the extreme detail they put into making the game's realism. I was also impressed with the underlying team tactics threshold which allows a good team to beat ships much stronger than them. Honestly, the game is amazing for its type and it is technically a MOBA, but I did not put it on this list because it is not typical of what people think when they are looking for a MOBA. That being said, if this style of game is attractive to you, I definitely recommend it. The third honorable mention is Survival Heroes. If you have been following this channel for a while, this game will either make you roll your eyes or bring back sweet memories. I will probably mention this game every time I talk about Mobile MOBA games because when it first came out, it opened my eyes to the potential of mobile gaming and a big reason I started arguing that Mobile games would take over gaming while most of the other gamers ridiculed it. I experience quite a lot of satisfaction seeing that most of them are playing mobile games now. Sadly, even though this game is amazing, the devs put almost all of their focus on their chinese version which can sometimes make the players feel like they are left to their own when things go wrong. Alright guys, I'll see you next time. tl;dr 1 - MOBAs might be my favorite game type so it was a lot of fun doing this research! Casual online games with friends? Posted: 28 Jan 2022 03:38 AM PST Hi guys, I'm looking for a casual online Android game to play with friends and it needs to be something that allows saving progress, i.e not a one off game like Among Us. I used to play Tales of Wind and even though it looks like a MMORPG, it's actually pretty casual - because you can auto and idle through most of the stuff in the game. That is the type of game I'm mainly looking for. Other games I looked at are Sky Children of the Light, Tsuki's Odyssey (unsure if online with friends) and Animal Crossing. I'm looking for more games like this. Has to be casual and doesn't require a lot of time investment, mainly because I don't really have a lot of time to play games outside of work.... LF RPG games with great customization. Posted: 27 Jan 2022 07:52 PM PST Hi. I'm looking for an RPG or JRPG or ARPG with great customization in them. Kinda like star wars kotor and trials of mana. What i really fond of is how your characters change depending on what you equip. It can be either offline or online, but i would much prefer it offline.. [link] [comments]
Looking for a base building game Posted: 27 Jan 2022 03:52 PM PST I am looking for a game in which you build a base and are attacked every couple of days or something. Kinda like 7 days mixed with clash of clans. I really enjoy gathering resources and progression so games like balloon tower defense aren't as appealing as nothing is earned by completing a level. Exagear possible issue, Starting/Starting up Posted: 27 Jan 2022 11:41 PM PST I've tried about three or four different Exagear (Windows emulator) versions with said obb for them. And it keeps either freezing on the Starting/Starting up after i press the application. Or is in a weird loop. For those wondering what i'm doing. I open said apk file, It opens up asking for said obb file, I then put obb file in said new folder that appears in the Android folder after starting up the Exagear apk for the first time, As many videos about using Exagear do this, And then starting the application afterwards. And i'm doing this on a Samsung tablet S6 for those wondering. [link] [comments]

I can't remember the name of a game Posted: 27 Jan 2022 05:20 AM PST I think I installed it around 2015-17 back in the day. It was this very simplistic 8 bit platformer where you were a little green astronaut that had to shoot these red monsters and get pass a checkpoint to complete the levels, which were getting harder along the way. The graphics as I said were pretty simplistic, with no much attention to visual details on the characters, and the background was an space setting with stars all over. I tried to install it from the google play store 2 years ago on a brand new smartphone I got but it said it wasn't compatible, yet when I installed it from a random website it was running well. Sadly, a few weeks ago I got mugged and now that I have a new phone I can't remember the name of the game. I would appreciate any info. Edit: Yeah, also the soundtrack was very catchy.
