Posted: 12 Nov 2021 08:11 PM PST Screen2Auto NON-ROOT GUIDE Guys, I figured out how to use screen 2 auto without root. Devices tested: Note 20 Ultra OneUI 3.1 Android 11, S21 Ultra OneUI 3.1 Android 11. Step one, uninstall AndroidAuto updates in settings. Step two, download and install Android Auto version 6.6 https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-auto/android-auto-6-6-6125-release/ Step three, open Android Auto settings, enable developer settings and enable unknown sources and select application mode Developer. Step four, Download and install AAstore. https://github.com/croccio/Android-Auto-Store Step five, Download and install screen2auto from AAstore. Step six, setup screen2auto and grant all permissions. Step seven, hook your phone up to Android Auto and you will be prompted to update the Android Auto app. This is okay! At this point Screen2Auto is installed inside Android Auto and should stay after updates. Step eight, launch and enjoy!!! Be responsible people. Screen2Auto version: 3.5-beta Android Auto version: 7.0.614134-release [link] [comments]

Multiple OEMs will have their own dynamic theming system on Android 12 Posted: 12 Nov 2021 07:29 AM PST The source code for Monet (Android 12's wallpaper-based theme system) will be released with Android 12L, but based on this code change (spotted by Pranav Pandey) for the Material Components library version 1.5.0 beta1, it looks like a bunch of OEMs are implementing dynamic color support themselves. The OEMs include:
Interestingly, Samsung is missing from the list despite the fact their latest One UI 4 betas do have the company's own dynamic color implementation. The color palettes that OEM implementations generate from your wallpaper likely won't be the same as what Google's Monet generates, but you'll still get dynamic colors, which is cool to see. As Kieron Quinn points out, because it's a hardcoded list and not something exposed in the framework like a property, if an OEM adds (or worse drops) support, every app will need to update to catch up. Google Photos 5.67 update removes Magic Eraser from the Pixel 6 Posted: 12 Nov 2021 08:25 AM PST Edit 2: Google is now rolling out a new build of Google Photos version 5.67 that reenables Magic Eraser on the Pixel 6. Check the Play Store for an update! Edit: Google told The Verge that it "identified an issue early in the rollout of [its] latest Photos update and are providing a fix shortly." If you have a Pixel 6 and see an update to the Google Photos app today, do NOT update. Google seems to have accidentally pushed the wrong build without the Magic Eraser feature. Version 5.67.0.409192963 was just pushed to my device (a Pixel 6 Pro) and it's gone. I'm not the only person this has happened to. As a sidenote, you shouldn't sideload updates to Google Photos if you have a Pixel 6. In doing so, you could inadvertently install a version without the Magic Eraser feature, as Google seems to have a specific build of the app for the Pixel 6 (the same build that other devices can sideload to enable Magic Eraser). I didn't sideload Photos (version 5.67.0.409192963 came through Google Play), so I thought I'd be safe. If you already installed the update like I did, just wait for the next update to roll out. Again, don't sideload - only install from Google Play. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Nov 2021 05:28 AM PST I watched the Google I/O 2021 live and honestly loved MatÃas Duarte's presentation of Material You. It was new, bold and exciting. There is so much more going on with the added animations and feedback. It's honestly great. When the Android 12 beta replaced the true black elements with gray, I always assumed they would back by the final builds. Why would they take the true black away when so much of the industry including the web and so many apps have embraced it. Same goes for the simple yet deep customisation options called "Styles" baked into android 11 like the font changer, so many accent colour options and the like. They were easy to use, well designed and meaningful. A simple change could make using the phone feel fresh and new. Much like changing the wallpaper. Material You expanded on that aspect of creating a fresh experience and uniqueness. Which is great. But in the process it took away so much of what was great about Android 11. Gone are the font options. And the accent colours have been brought down to 4. I don't see why they didn't retain the legacy style options. It's a shame. To add to the dismay, black dark mode was removed and never added back in. They could have made the grey the default and added a true black toggle like Twitter app does. Again, it's a shame and I'm sure I'm not alone in missing this. It feels like a step forward and backward again. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments]
