[REQUEST] Kemco games: which have a story that feels "complete"?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 04:45 AM PDT

Hello, I do not have time to play lenghty rpgs so I tried some kemco games. I played three of them (Sephirotic stories, fernz Gate and Wizards of Brendel) but only liked Sephirotic Stories.

Mainly because it was the only one that told you a story which delivered all information about world, lore and characters you needed to know.

I disliked Wizards of Brendel because it felt like a long side quest from some bigger rpg, throwing around characters and institution names you would never see in-game and which were never explained but were important to the story.

Which kemco games you know have a "complete" story?

EDIT: I am talking about kemco games only, so no other rpgs please, no snes rpgs (I think I already played them all), no FF, DQ, Trials or similar.

    Any suggestions are appreciated!

Switch-like controller recommendations for a long phone

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 01:59 AM PDT

    Hello /r/AndroidGaming!

Can you please advice on your choices for mobile phone controller? It has to wrap around the phone so it kinda looks like Nintendo Switch in handheld mode.

The gimmick is: I have a ROG Phone 5 which is over 17 cm (6.7 inch) wide in landscape mode. Most controllers seem to be limited to something like 16.7 cm (6.55 inch).

Because of that I went to look for controllers that are supposed to be used with tablets. So far I was only able to find iPega PG-9083s.

The phone and controller will be used for cloud gaming with Stadia.

I need help find a lost somewhat micromanagement Space Fleet game.

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 10:19 PM PDT

    Hello,

I do not remember the name of the game, but it very much exists and it is an absolute unit of a game. I can only describe you the details of the game, and I hope someone out there can help me figure out what the name of the game is because it has disappeared from the Play Store. Please keep in mind that I am trying to remember all of this from memory. Thank you all in advance, and enjoy this description of this lost game.

Context: Earth is under attack, fighting a galactic war against an alien force of bugs. You, an Admiral of a Command Ship, headed towards Earth in response to their distress signal as they battle off the bugs. As you warped nearby, droves of alien fighter ships head towards your direction. You send your fighters out to intercept and destroy them. However, more and more bugs continue to appear, some in heavily armored bombing ships. Nearby star ship carriers warp to your destination to aid in your defense. And the battle continues on until... Boom. The Earth has been shattered in two. Billions have perished as the remaining demoralized forces defending Earth are whittled down one by one. The alien bug queen rejoices in the destruction of Earth, and calls to the remaining humans to embrace their demise. As the last hope, the last command ship capable to escape and flee, as the hidden behemoth capital bug ship approaches you, you warp away to the nearest star system. Seething in rage, you swore vengence upon the bugs, for only their destruction and the destruction of their queen will your thirst be quenched. Quenched it shall be, in alien blood.

Gameplay: You warp in to a system with only your command ship. Your ship contains, in its hanger, five interceptors and three mining convoys. Special Warp Asteroids can be seen nearby your ship. You can send your convoys, by drawing a line connecting to the asteroid, to harvest those warp crystals, and after they have mined their able carrying capacity, they head back towards the command ship to drop off those crystals.

Those crystals can be used to warp in Star Ship Carriers. These Carriers specialize in certain space crafts that can aid you in battle such as Interceptor Carriers, Bomber Carriers, Miner Carriers, so on so forth (which will be explained later).

Your Interceptors are there to eliminate the bugs seeking to destroy your crew. As well as attacking your miners. They are light interceptor, but they do the job well. You can draw their path of flight to the destination you want them to go, once they reach the end of the line you have drawn they will turn back to the ship, but unless they find an enemy to lock on they will continue to strafe the enemy until they are defeated.

If a miner or interceptor is killed in action, there is a certain time period before they are able to refit another ship to be sent into the heat of battle.

This cannot be said the same to your command ship or the fleet you will possess. Your command ship will not heal itself (unless it equips the nanobot regeneration module which will be explained later). If your star ship carriers sustain enough damage, they will explode killing all those crew members inside and it will all be your fault because your commanding skills have failed them. Also you lose access to their capabilities because, well, they are dead and so are the space crafts. But if your command ship sustains enough damage, you will blow up. Losing the entire mission, the hope of humanity, everything. But you can respawn like nothing has happened and restart the same particular level with more knowledge than before because nothing is real and their reality is all fake. Anyways, I digress.

The enemy bugs have different ships too. Some of them are simple interceptors as well, some of them are a heavier craft thab others, some are bombers, some of them are shielded, some of them are super capital ships that are shielded and do so much damage and some that can be shielded too ahhhhhh. And they swarm like bugs too, you gotta love the immersion. I will explain them in better detail later.

Once you have defeated all the bugs from that system, you will be able to warp away to save more systems.

Currency: I do not exactly remember the name of the main currency, but it is used to buy other Star Ship Carriers of different variations, and can be used to upgrade your command ship and those Star Ship Carriers as well.

Certain Asteroids that fly by have a special omega look to it. Those are your special credits called Omega Chips (Something like that) that can be used to purchase special Star Ships Carriers and do special upgrades.

Warp: You can only Warp in a total of six carriers or Artillery. Not including yourself. I do not remember the exact cost.

Ships: You have five classes of Carriers. Each class has two different versions of itself, one being your standard Carrier and the other having a more tankier and slower version of itself, but compensates with heavy fire power. The first version has more variations to itself.

Interceptor Class - Their Color is Green. Your Standard Star Craft. There are different types of Carriers that have different types of Star Crafts. Simply put, Heavy Star Ship Interceptor Carriers, Advance Star Ship Interceptor Carriers (That one is bought with Omega Chips), Light Star Ship Interceptor Carriers, so on and so forth. The second version looks almost like a World War Two Bomber, but as a fighter star craft. The Interceptor Class Main Job is to eliminate enemy bug ships. They are pretty much an all rounder, but fail in areas where the enemy's defense or shielding enables their lasers weak.

Shieldbreaker Class (Not Actually their name, I have forgotten their name) - Their color is yellow. Their purpose is in the name I have temporarily given them because I forgot their name. Same thing, two versions. First Version is the lighter type with different variations to it, the other is like a nuch heavier version of it, takes shields down fast, especially against Bug Capital Ships. These guys are incredible at taking down the Shields of Enemies, which in coordination with Interceptors and Bombers, can end their foe as if those shields never existed in the first place. They shoot yellow orbs that break shields after enough damage. Their damage to the hull of enemies is rather minimal compared to Interceptors.

Miner Class - Their Color is Blue. Straightforward, Two Variations, tankier versions that can gather more. Very useful in gathering enough warp crystals to warp in more Star Ship Carriers into battle. Also increases the storage capacity of Warp Crystals. They cannot fight.

Bomber Class - A orangy color. Two Variations, more health on the second. Similar Variations like the others. They do great splash damage as they send missiles that explode nearby enemies. They do massive damage to Capital and Bomber Bug Ships. They do rather minimal damage to your standard fighters, but they do damage.

The Artillery Class - A Red Ship, not a carrier, but unique in it's power and destructive capabilities. Three different types, one with one cannon, second one with two cannons, third with three cannons (Omega Credits are required to purchase). You can aim and fire at enemy ships with this across the map. It has a slow cool down, but you can warp in more to minimize the cool down, but you are sacrificing fighters to defend yourself as the Artillery is put on cool down. They do not have fighters. And they are made ineffective against shielded enemies.

Upgrades: Upgrading your Carriers and/or your command ship will increase the overall health of you Carriers or Command Ship, or your space crafts damage outputs, speed, rotation ability, or fire rate. Each level of upgrade is most of the time different. With some of the last upgrades requiring Omega Chips.

Enemy Ships: The enemy bugs have similar ships to ours, except the shieldbreakers and miners. They have not been named to my knowledge, but they properties are similar to the ships of ours. All bug ships have a shielded version and non shielded version except the Artillery Bug Ship, which always have a shield that faces towards the command ship. Some bugs move differently than others, even if they are in the same class as each other. Some move in a zig zag wave, some move in a straight line bee lining towards your capital ship and ignoring interceptors, some focus on interceptors. Some that spawn in will be moving at a fast pace towards your fleet, or some may be moving slowly in a crawl. They can spawn on all sides of your screen.

Interceptor Bugs - There are Two Variations to them. However their movement can vary in each system you explore. The First Variation is light, easy to kill, and plentiful. The second Variation is slightly tougher, but still plentiful. They move in a swarm together. If you are able to eliminate the majority of that swarm. They will begin fleeing away unless they meet another swarm which they will join forces with.

The Bomber Bugs - They do great damage to your Carriers, to you, and to your fighters. They are large and rather slow, but they are dangerous and must be eliminated. Bomber Classes do great against Bomber Bugs. There is two Variations to them. The standard kind, and the second one which is longer in length and beefier in health.

Behemoth Bug - A Gargantuan Capital Ship. A warning signal will appear in the direction of where the ship is heading towards you. They are highly dangerous and once they reach a certain range, will begin to charge up deadly plasma ball that will shread your Carriers.

Artillery Bug - A swarm of construction bugs will begin constructing an Artillery structure somewhere on the map of your screen. A warning will show up before their arrival. They shield themselves as they construct the superstructure. It is best to cooperate with your Shield Breakers and Bombers to effectively eliminate them. If they superstructure is complete. They will launch a long range assault against your Carriers. Dealing immense damage to them.

There might be more bugs I may have forgotten, other than the queen which will be a spoiler for y'all. But that's all for Enemy bugs.

There is (I believe) 50 levels, with a fun endless level as well. Each level is unique (the beginning is straight forward), but it makes you really have to micromanage your fleet.

It is an incredible game. Far beyond its time. I believe it was created some time around 2011 or so. Might be later. I thank you so very much for reading my post. I truly hope somone out there might be able to remember the name of the game. Perhaps even try it out for a spin, if it still exists anyways. Thank you. Cheers y'all.

Looking for some completely mindless games that I can play while half asleep

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 11:28 PM PDT

I have mild insomnia and play games in bed while waiting to get tired. I have a decent collection but most require at least some thought. I'll usually get to a point where I'm kinda tired but not quite tired enough to go to sleep yet. When I get like that, it gets harder to concentrate and so, having some super simple games to play that don't involve thinking or coordination at all, would be really handy.
