| "waiting for any device" while trying to unlock my old tablet Posted: 07 Sep 2021 11:40 AM PDT I've been trying to unlock the bootloader on my samsung galaxy tab s4 and it went all well up until "fastboot oem unlock" when it says "waiting for any device". | App associated with wrong account Posted: 07 Sep 2021 11:39 AM PDT I have two Google accounts on my phone. I have an annual subscription for an app, paid on account A. All worked fine. The app was updated and is now associated with account B, and shows no subscription paid. The only way I can get it to show with account A is to remove the app then reinstall it from the Play store website. Every time it updates I get the same problem. I've tried deleting the app's cache and data, and I've tried deleting the play store app cache and data. No joy. Anyone know a permanent fix? [link] [comments] |

| Google calendar widget not showing current day Posted: 07 Sep 2021 03:45 AM PDT Recently i noted that my 4x5 google calendar widget no longer shows the current day number. Like today is the 7th. If i look at the widget, i see that where the 7 should be it is blank, literally not even saying "7". while not long ago it would have been an highlighted 7. Any way to fix this? [link] [comments] |

| What is Ring-fencing and do I need it? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 03:13 AM PDT Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit to post this, but here goes anyway. I have an android tablet which both myself and my friends use. However I want to restrict my work emails, Facebook messages, storage, etc from other users. I am aware that I can create multiple user profiles which will do the trick. But it's a pain having to constantly download applications for the restricted users. I have been informed that there are applications which create a "ring-fence" which effectively creates a VM with an application. If I understand it correctly, I can create a single amount for all users, and a single secure ring-fence application which will contain my data. Is this correct/achievable at all?! | How do I get notifications to stop any time I interact with Pandora? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 11:08 AM PDT Moved to a Samsung device for the first time, a Z Flip 3. Every time I play, pause, or skip track, I get a notification sound every single time. Even when it goes to the next track on its own. It also affects the volume and lowers it every time until I interact with it. Toggling notifications for Pandora doesn't do anything. How do I stop this? When I charge the phone to 100% it shows around 2700 mah in AIDA64 app but keeps charging till 3500 mah. So I want to ask, should I charge my phone to 100% or just try to charge between 20-80%? Info: Probably is impossible to root this device because bootloader is not unlockable (if you know how, please tell me) I tried with adb uninstall, pm uninstall with user 0 and -k flag also, the result is that it trows a signature dont match error when trying to install new apk. | How do I open an app from a lock screen notification? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 08:38 AM PDT I'm recently back on Android from a long stint in iOS with the Galaxy Z Fold 3. And I'm slowly finding my way around things again. But one thing I'm finding confusing.....how do you open an app from a lock screen notification? I wake up my phone and I see the notifications. The phone is already unlocked by smart lock. But pressing on the notification doesn't do anything. I have to swipe up to get to my home screen, then swipe down to see the notifications again, and then pressing on the notification to open the app. It strikes me as very cumbersome compared to iOS. | Posted: 06 Sep 2021 10:54 PM PDT So I previously had a Moto One 5G Ace but I cracked the screen on it. Switched carriers from T Mobile to Cricket (basically AT&T as they use their towers and my plan has zero throttling), to take advantage of their $100 deal for a new Moto G Stylus 5G if you brought your number over. The One 5G Ace had an option in the settings to select which cellular network you wanted. (5G, LTE, 3g, edge), but the Stylus 5G does not have the same menu. This comes into play later. I got the Stylus 5G and love the phone, and the LTE service isn't even that bad as I still get roughly 75-100 mbps down. However I'm paying $60 a month and my plan includes 5G; I want to get my money's worth and enjoy those 250 down speeds I was getting on T Mobile. My house, which is directly to the left of "Rochester Township" in the screenshot I'm linking below, is clearly in the 5g coverage zone. I also door dash all around Rochester, which is entirely covered by 5g. Not once did I have 5g service. I've tried about everything I can think of to fix this problem. Rebooted the phone, reset network settings, reinserted the sim a few times, looked through every setting trying to find the network selection setting that was on the One 5g Ace, I even re-entered the cricket wireless 5g apn info and that didn't work. I'm seriously at a loss for how to get 5g working and would appreciate it if any of you had any ideas. If I can't get it fixed by tomorrow afternoon I am going to take it back into the store I bought it from to see if they can fix it. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Recently, when the alarm goes off (I've almost missed two classes because of this issue), my phone vibrates a couple times, then just silences and turns the alarm off on its own, then the alarm doesn't go back off again. My mom allowed a scammer to connect to her Galaxy S9 (via RDP or some similar software) and do who knows what before she felt uneasyand stopped him. He wanted her credit card information and related to buy gift cards n jazz. I'm not fully sure why he was remoting into her phone and don't trust her to know/understand what he may have been doing. She since shut off her phone. She's working on changing a few passwords (google, amazon, and others that were potentially related) as well as setting up multi-factor authentication. She's reached out to the credit card company as a heads-up (there were two questionable charges), reached out to amazon (I think he claimed he was from amazon) and I believe is reaching out to her carrier. Without knowing exactly what happened, any other recommended steps? My first thought was just wipe the device and start from scratch, but i dunno how much she previously had backed up and/or how easy/hard that is (compared to a restore from iCloud). I couldn't find any obvious webpages or wiki's for that, but if anyone has any advice? Or can link to a recommended page of instructions? That'd be appreciated! [link] [comments] |

| I can't seem to connect to the internet through any means Posted: 07 Sep 2021 06:20 AM PDT Basically, I factory reset my phone and now my phone can't detect my sim card or my wifi and I can't continue with the setup. I'll write down the whole story, So I downloaded an app which supported only Korean language, and I don't know Korean. So I searched the web for a way to force the app to use english and I found articles saying that I have to change language under system settings. But I already had the language set to english so I searched the web even more and I found a guy who said in his tutorial to download this app called xposed framework. I installed it and when it was done installing, it said that it was not installed when I opened the app ( not a system message, it said that the framework was not installed) I did not understand what the app meant so I just uninstalled it. I went back to settings and under language, other than english uk, us etc. there was a english_xu (I don't remember the name accurately but it had "english" and "x" in the name) and that was the recommended language to add. I added it out of curiosity and my phone crashed when it was done installing. when i press the power button only a blank screen with the lock icon and time shows up. there was nothing I could do except restarting my phone so that's what I did. Now when I switched on the phone the screen kept switching on and off, I couldn't navigate and it kept switching on and off even when I left the phone alone. Since there was nothing I could do, I tried restoring a backup through recovery. the whole process was done but I got an error message "extracttarfork() process ended with error=255" in the end. I tried rebooting and my phone did actually restore the backup. However, the internet issue started. the apps I saved through the backup were there but it said no sim card inserted even after I tried two verified working sim cards. I tried using wifi but every time I switched it on in settings, It said it was switched off when I checked the drag down options ( the quick wifi bluetooth etc option) and when I switched it on through the drag down options, it said it was switched off in the settings. I tried wiping data, dalvik, cache and system in recovery and restoring the backup again (my only backup btw) but the "extracttarfork() process ended with error=255" error message still popped up and the sim and wifi problem was still not fixed. So I tried reseting the phone through recovery. The process went along fine and The device was factory reset. But the problem was still there in the device setup (I'm using a redmi phone but it was a stock android 11 rom). the "connect to mobile network" message was there after trying both sim cards and the wifi option did not find any network after scanning and couldn't connect manually too. I tried installing the rom all over again through my laptop but that didn't work either, I still get the same problems in the setup. none of the problem were there before today. Every time I come back from a drive I see that my phone sounds the notification sound whenever I get one, whilst its on vibrate mode. I will switch to another high quality charger and it will continue to charge slowly. Sometimes it last days and then it will just stop and go back to charging rapidly. What causes this?
