I bought their devices under the pretense of privacy, but the whole matter made me realize I really shouldn't trust one company with everything. And that I want to take back control of my digital life. I was planning to buy a new iPhone this fall, but given the circumstances, I started to look at Android. I'm really surprised how beautiful Android 12 is, and I love it offers many customization options. But, being a complete Android noob, I have a few questions, and I hope you won't mind answering them here.

| Microphone playback app without delay? Posted: 19 Aug 2021 09:45 AM PDT I was trying to make a setup where i can use an external microphone and apply echo effect and output through a bluetooth speaker (or not bluetooth) I have some adapters to test this, and i've ended up with something that I can choose if the output is bluetooth or wired. The problem i have is that i have a lot of latency no matter if I put the minimum sample rate and frames per buffer, delay still exists I tested it with an app called "microphone pro S (no delay)", ironic, because has a lot of delay. The S is because is meant for Samsung devices (I have S20 ultra) but i find no difference between S and non S version, Also there's no much difference if I put the recommended sample rate and buffer. So, i came with the conclusion that there is a base delay, and the app nor the bluetooth is causing it (with all wired setup also happens). I haven't found any other playback apps to test, if someone knows any, or knows if maybe theres a way on settings to avoid the delay (in poweramp there's an option to use different audio drivers or something like that, I don't know how that works). I know its a only android app, but other portable setup recommendations will be appreciated Thanks in advance :) [link] [comments] |

| [Samsung Galaxy A71] Black screen, only a distinct buzzing sound when charger is plugged in. Posted: 19 Aug 2021 11:18 AM PDT It's happened before and we sent the phone back to the shop. They just said it ran out of charge, but also reinstalled the OS. Just like last time, the phone was between 40-60% when I put it aside and charged it. I put the case over it, like normal and it has a magnetic lock on the back to stay closed. I've now taken off the cover. When I plug in the charger, the screen is still black, but when I put the phone to my ear there's a semi-high pitched noise coming from within the phone, it starts a second or so after I plug in the charger. When I remove the charger, it's gone. I've tried the power button and down sound button reset to no avail. Otherwise, there's no sound coming from the phone, and no buzzing or light. It's completely unresponsive. I also tried using Samsung's find my phone online, but as the phone's not connected to wifi, there's no connection. I noticed, just like last time. I was just on my pc when I saw a notification light from the side of the phone, but didn't care much, and the screen stayed on for like 20 seconds before shutting off, then it's gone. Edit: I saw an article online that I'm trying. Hold the power and volume down button for 30seconds, then charge the phone on the charger it came with for 1 hour, then hold down the buttons again and see if there's a result. Now he's trying to claim damage to his property that was not reported during the checkout and he's sending me an itemized list. I haven't seen it yet, but I want to be prepared with our chat history showing the times, dates, and photos I sent when I saw or discovered problems with the house. I tried e2pdf which easily let me select him as a contact and created a PDF, but it's missing quite a few messages and has no photos. I have SMS backup and restore which exported a giant 1gb xml file, but I have no idea how to sensibly scan and use that information. Any other ideas? [link] [comments] |

Hey guys, I've got a few questions I'm wondering about and I figured I'd post them here and in a few other Android related subreddits to get the best possible answers. I'm looking to move over from an iPhone + iPad + Macbook environment to a PC + Android + Laptop situation. My main reason for converting are that I'm genuinely bored and tired of iOS but also I built a PC recently and don't want it going to waste since my iPhone isn't integrated into Windows. I really need a new phone so I figured this is the perfect time to go full Android + PC. I am either looking at a POCO F3 (I've heard these are good midrange phones) or hopefully if the Samsung Education Store has a sale on (the Galaxy Z Fold 2 was AUD 1000 only a few days ago, which I should've pulled the trigger for), I might get a Galaxy S21/S20/Z Fold2 or Z Fold 3. To be honest, I'm not settled on a phone yet. If you want, feel free to suggest an Android phone, but since I am going to be starting uni in January, I don't need to buy anything until then so I can hold off for a newer version of something. My main concerns before moving over to Android are that the Android/Windows ecosystem isn't as intuitive or even well developed as the Apple ecosystem. I have begun to use the built in Windows Calendar app and the Microsoft To Do app. I imagine these are the closest equivalents to the Apple Calendar and Reminders apps. On my iPhone, if I make an event for tomorrow, that event will show up on my Macbook and iPad and even an Apple Watch. If I ask it to notify me 20 minutes before that even, it will show up on those devices as well. Same with the reminders. My question is, are the Microsoft To Do and Calendar apps the same? Is there an Android equivalent of those apps that allow my events to sync up? I'm not a fan of having a bunch of different apps, I just want the 1 app to sync with its equivalent on my phone. Secondly, I can recieve and send text messages and phone calls via my Macbook and iPad. I know that Windows has a My Phones app, but does this allow me to look and send messages on my PC if my phone is on the couch? Similar question, will I be able to see phone notifications on my PC? I know Windows 11 allows you to download Android apps so this might improve things a little bit. Lastly, photos that I can on my iPhone automatically get uploaded via iCloud to the photos app on my Macbook. I have 100GB of OneDrive. Is it possible to set up my phone to automatically upload photos to OneDrive so I can view them on my PC? The photos app on the Macbook is very powerful (in my opinion), it allows you to view photos categorised by years, months, days or location or even my people who are in the photos. | Posted: 19 Aug 2021 07:10 AM PDT I have the LTE version. Mobile data works. SMS/MMS works. All antennae work (WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC). It just won't make or receive calls. Incoming calls go straight to voice mail. Outgoing calls are interrupted saying to use the 'call or text on other device' setting. This setting is used to link a phone to the tablet to use its mobile connection. I already have a mobile connection. That's what I got this thing for: to replace my phone. Regardless, it doesn't work if the setting is enabled or not. I can't even enable it because it only works with a very limited number of Samsung phones that I don't have. When I look at my contacts list, all of the phone numbers are there, but there is no phone icon to make a connection. I'm assuming this will change as soon as I have an active phone connection. I don't know, did I get the wrong software version (WIFI only) or something? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 19 Aug 2021 04:53 AM PDT I installed Edge to have as an alternative browser but still intend to use Chrome for everything, so I kept my defaults to Chrome. However any time I tap on an NFC link (like to pay at a gas station) it opens in Edge, not Chrome. This isn't a huge deal but it just makes me curious if Microsoft is getting around defaults somehow. It was a 2018 model Oppo/ Realme 1 device with face unlock/ 6 digit pin unlock. I am wondering if my data may be accessed without pin. Or would the culprit be able to access the contents without password ? How strong are the Android security updates now a days ? My android security update was till February, 2021. Even if it rooted for further sale of item, will my data still be there ? Lastly, can the IMEI be changed by them, so that it may not be traced if it is resold ? Thanks in advance. It works perfectly well, except it has absolutely no storage room left. I've checked her phone to see what the issue is and I can't find it. It's got a total of 16 GB, out of which 15.5 GB are taken. However, when I look at the storage tab, it says that what is taking up this storage is: Documents (19.5 MB), Images (102 MB), Audio (6.02 MB), Video (127 MB) and Apps (2.4 GB). This doesn't add up to even 4 GB, so my question is, what on earth is occupying so much space? She has maybe four apps installed because she can add nothing else, and those apps she needs to have. I take it it might be that it's never been reset, so there might be data that has been taking more and more space for years now. Am I correct? I don't know much about phones, and neither does she. The Camera folder that usually contains my pics and videos in DCIM is empty. It happened suddenly. One day it was fine, the next day everything is gone. I've tried everything. Every single recovery app you can think of, the good old .nomedia file to delete, computer software to retrieve files with a rooted phone...you name it, I did it. Did this ever happen to you ? They...are gone forever, right? I don't use Google backup so that's not an option. Usually I backup everything manually every couple of months but I got lazy...10 months of pics and videos are gone. If I take pictures, it works perfectly fine. Now there's a new Camera folder, the pics and vids go in there, no issue whatsoever. Could it be that I deleted DCIM by mistake?
