Amazon app store keeps rejecting apps!!

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 07:05 AM PDT

Hello fellow devs, Hope you're doing well in these trying times. Well I have been facing a rather frustrating problem for quite sometime now. I have developed a few app throughout my years of activity in these field. I uploaded them in both play store and amazon app store. I made updates for my apps and launched them on both stores. The updates went live on google play store but amazon app store keeps rejecting them. I have been facing this problem since the begenning of 2021. The cause of rejection mostly they say the app crash or fail to install but when I test them they perfectly! And when I contact them the support team is not helpfull at all. Did anyone of you face this problem and how did you solve it? I appreciate your help thank you.

    Sketchy email

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 03:31 AM PDT

Hello everyone, i recently published my first app on google play, so i am new on the scene.

I just got this email with an appetizing but sketchy deal.

"Our enterprise is looking for a developer account in order to host our application there. The Android development team, which I represent, requires a lot of accounts.

We are always looking for new possibilities. Your account perfect matches for us, as we search trusted accounts that already have apps. Just like yours! As long as you store our app, we are obliged for paying you $25 a week.

The foregoing collaboration depends on how long you consent to work with us.

We don't need a username or password. We only rent your space on the account.

Are you interested in our offer?"

I was wondering if any of you more experienced developers have had a similar offer.

Jetpack Compose - Scroll indicators 404

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:29 PM PDT

Hey Jetpack Compose fans, have you guys tried to show a scroll indicator for a list? I have the following list but there is no visual indicator for the scrollbar when I run it

    @Preview(name = "Booking list", showBackground = true) @Composable fun BookingList() { LazyColumn( verticalArrangement = Arrangement.Top ) { items(20) { BookingListItem() Divider() } } }

In the old UI kit, RecyclerView had attribute for scrollbars - but can't seem to find anything in the Compose world.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

P.S: I am using the production release for Compose.

View Models For News Feed in Jetpack Compose

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:26 PM PDT

I have a NewsFeedComposable that renders a bunch of PostComposable for a list of post items. Each post is highly interactive. Interactions include commenting/deleting/liking etc. The NewsfeedComposable has a View Model that fetches all the posts and maintains it in postItems and passes a post object to each child PostComposable . PostComposable has its own view model for all of its business logic and networks requests pertaining to actions on a PostComposable. I want to maintain postItems as the source of truth for my UI but I don't want all my logic to be in NewsFeedViewModel What is the best way to keep all the logic in the PostViewModel and then pass any writes back to NewsFeedViewModel

The only working approach I have is to initialize the state of PostViewModel in LaunchedEffect based on the data passed to the PostComposable and then to use the state of PostViewModel as the source of truth for my PostComposable The problem with this approach is that if postItems needs to be passed to another composable to do something else, it has stale data because it doesn't get any writes.

How do I update the data in NewsFeedViewModel based on changes to PostViewModel?

Terms of Service and Privacy Policy question

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 12:03 PM PDT

I'm Planning to publish my app soon on the google play store and had questions regarding TOS requirements. Specifically do I need to have the document notarized and do I need to be a company to do so. Currently the TOS is binding to me an individual and not a company is this legally correct, and if yes is it even a wise decision to publish as an individual rather than under an LLC. Any thoughts and or advice would be much appreciated as I am a novice to the publishing process. Thanks!

How do contacts/address-book apps store data to stay performant as they scale?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:58 PM PDT

I'm planning a project that's going to be a sort of sales-contact/networking thing, and I'm wondering how existing apps store potentially large numbers of contacts without being slow or resource-intensive to retrieve it. So far, I've thought of:

    1. Storing contacts as individual JSON files. To avoid loading potentially thousands of JSON files up front, it would require at least an index file to map personal names to file names, and probably more if we're considering grouping contacts too. Plus, it feels like a noob thing to do. But then, how resource-intensive would loading a few thousand JSON files be?

    2. Relational database. I've been working with databases for over a decade, so this was naturally my first idea for storing data to begin with. Queries would retrieve only the data I need at any given time. However, that's a lot of overhead for what's probably going to be an edge case. Not only that, taking a marvel of 21st-Century technology like a smartphone and using it to host a SQL database seems like some kind of travesty.

How do "real" contacts apps do it without hogging resources?

    Kiwi: An Auto-scroller Adventure Game!

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:08 AM PDT

Kiwi needs your help! We're planning on releasing this game soon with @moonriftentertainment and could use help spreading the word about it. You could also donate to the Indiegogo campaign, this would help offset development costs and help with advertising. I hope you have just as much fun playing Kiwi as I did helping create it! This game will be released on mobile and PC platforms, specifically the Google Play store, Windows store, itch.io, and Steam.
