Has anyone ever experienced this?(Oppo A37f) Posted: 05 Jun 2021 05:04 AM PDT So while I was just watching youtube videos on my phone, my phone alarm suddely started blaring as I have forgotten that I have setup an alarm at about 7pm during that time, but instead of it blaring a normal alarm ringtone, I was surprised that it started ringing out some kind of chinese voice message of a girl repeating the same phrase over and over again in a text to speech type of voice. I wasnt able to record it as I was just alone at that time and didnt have any other devices to record it to. Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
"Play the news," by Google Assistant Posted: 04 Jun 2021 11:54 PM PDT HOW TF DO I TURN IT OFF? I just hit "play the news" when looking at options around my Google-created morning wake-up alarm. Hey, pick some sites and my phone will wake me up with news from them. Great! It's been running for 10 minutes and it doesn't show any signs of stopping. I have stopped all apps and there is nothing in the pull-down that I could use to stop the audio. There are literally zero controls. Aggravating. I guess I'll try rebooting and NEVER ENABLING THIS AGAIN. Sorry for the allcaps. [link] [comments] |
Websites as PWAs in app drawer? Posted: 05 Jun 2021 09:22 AM PDT Chrome allows websites to be put on the home screen, but I don't use the home screen. I just use the app drawer. What about in the app drawer? [link] [comments] |
Problem with chat features. Samsung. Posted: 05 Jun 2021 07:17 AM PDT I messed up my chat features by switching my message app from Samsung messages to Android Messages. Immediately after that my chat features was stuck on 'verifying' for over 8 hours. So I tried going back to the default Samsung messages and when I try to enable chat features it just says "registration failed" I know RCS works because I've used it before with no problem. Steps I've done to try to fix the issue:
Nothing works. [link] [comments] |
Blu G90 Pro - Having trouble changing text tone Posted: 05 Jun 2021 10:57 AM PDT So this may seem simple and unnecessary, but I have looked nearly everywhere and tried everything I can think of. Somehow, a while back, I was able to change just my text tone. Now I cannot find any way to change it again. There doesn't appear to be the usual way of doing it in the messaging app. I've looked in system settings and even app-specific permissions, thinking maybe the app didn't have permission to modify system settings. I can still change the general ring and notification tones just fine. But the general notification tone has also had issues recently as well. It doesn't like to actually register that the change has been made. So I'm wondering if the two issues are maybe related. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've tried as much as I can to eliminate the likelihood of this being idiotic user error. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Jun 2021 10:35 AM PDT My parents have an Android phone and I'm not used to them so can't really help much. They've had the phone a couple of years and suddenly a lot of photos in their library appear greyed out with a cloud crossed through so I think this means they should only be on the phone not the cloud. It's mostly older ones so I wonder if something has happened with a recent update. Another thing is that the phone storage is 16mb and there's very little left. They do have an as card installed that is mostly empty. The phone storage shows photos as taking up 162mb which doesn't seem much. Is there a solution that doesn't risk losing them given that they're not backed up? [link] [comments] |

Can the Samsung reminder app do daily reminders, or Bixby? Posted: 05 Jun 2021 10:13 AM PDT I can't find an option to set it to remind me daily. [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy Luna Pro How to get headphones to work? Posted: 05 Jun 2021 09:14 AM PDT Hope you and your family are well. I have your basic $5 headphones. I thought it would be as simply as plugging in my headphones, heading over to youtube and playing music. It doesn't work though. Are there things I have to do on the phone? Thank you in advance! :) [link] [comments] |
my samsung is suddenly taking longer to charge and is draining quicker Posted: 05 Jun 2021 09:08 AM PDT Hi I have an Galaxy A71, it's been charging fine for the past 6 months. Few days ago I charged another phone with the same charger. I have not done that before. But since then my galaxy A71 has been taking longer to charge all of a sudden and I noticed the battery has been dropping quicker than usual. Like right now it's on 90% and it estimates it would reach full charge in 20 mins, but before it would be done in less than 10 mins. I tested my phone on another Samsung adapter and it's showing the same amount of time. [link] [comments] |
If I leave the wifi turned on will my phone automatically connect to open routers? Posted: 05 Jun 2021 05:22 AM PDT I have always turned off the wifi when I wasn't using the phone because I thought that it conserved the battery but it turns out it is a completely negligible amount and I will stop doing so. But now it occurred to me that if I leave my home the phone might automatically connect to random open routers that I come into relative proximity of (which is a major security risk). There are some location accuracy settings that use nearby routers to pinpoint your location and you can turn these off manually but I browsed the settings and I wasn't able to find anything relating to this so here I am asking you on this sub if that's the way my phone works. By the way, I have a Samsung phone that runs on Android 11 (one UI version 3.1). [link] [comments] |
How to prevent notifications from collapsing when I fully expand quick settings? Posted: 05 Jun 2021 12:48 AM PDT I'm on Lineage 18.1 (Android 11) Here's how I have it now. Notifications are hidden when quick settings panel is expanded. [link] [comments] |

Nexus 4 not turning on and no red light Posted: 05 Jun 2021 12:10 AM PDT Hello, I've got an old Nexus 4 for free, but it is not booting. I'm trying to to fix it to use it as backup phone or for trying alternative phone OS. I have charged the phone and when I plug in it, the screen lights up and I can see a battery icon on the screen. When plugged into a computer, the phone is correctly recognized. But I still cannot boot to android, and the screen remains black after the battery icon. I've also tried holding the volume down+power button while plugging in the USB cable, and this doesn't change anything. At no point I see a red light. Is it possible to repair my Nexus 4, and if possible recover the data on it? [link] [comments] |
How can I help my grandmother get rid of ads on the landing/starting screen of her Android Phone? Posted: 04 Jun 2021 01:47 PM PDT The pictures shows the locked screen. I guess that there are some malicious activity, but how do I find out what app is causing it and how do I remove it? [link] [comments] |
Undismissable notification forbspotify/pocket cast Posted: 04 Jun 2021 09:49 PM PDT Using miui 12. Can't seem to dismiss this. It lives in the notification area when I drag down from the top bar. Any ideas. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Issues receiving text from IPhone? Posted: 05 Jun 2021 06:25 AM PDT Is there any known troubleshooting for issues receiving text messages from iPhones? I have had an Android for over two years and am still having issues getting my group messages with some people who all have iPhones. My wife also has an IPhone and says she intermittently has issues with messages going through to me and we don't know why that is. Anyone have this issue still? I deactivated iMessage right when I got my phone and can't seem to find anything else that may help. I have a Samsung S9 with One UI version 2.5, and Android version 10 [link] [comments] |
Reddit audio interfering with audio from other background apps Posted: 04 Jun 2021 10:23 PM PDT I switched from Pixel 2 to Samsung S21 +. I used to be able to open Spotify and play music to headphones AND browse Reddit which remained silent. Now every time I open Reddit, Spotify will stop for a Reddit ad or video to take over. Then I have to mute the ad or video, and go to Spotify to resume it. Then if I open Reddit same thing happens, it takes over the audio. Or if I try to listen on TV via Google Chromecast (because my smart tv is stupid and doesn't have native support for Spotify), and try to open Reddit, I will hear blasting ads from my phone (while Spotify plays on the tv). If I try to lower the volume of the ads using the volume buttons, the volume in my Spotify playing Tv also lowers. So either listen to music and stupid loud ads at the same time or nothing. I didn't find anything to deactivate in app permissions or the Reddit settings. Surely it's possible to listen to Spotify and browse Reddit on the same time. I did it in my pixel without any problems. [link] [comments] |
Different lock pattern for Guest mode Posted: 05 Jun 2021 05:43 AM PDT So previously I had an android phone (don't remember model at the moment) that allowed the user to set up a guest mode, this guest mode was accessible by swiping a different pattern than the "real" pattern. Allowing You to make some apps inaccessible, not allow changes to settings and other useful things. I haven't seen this built in option again for many years. Only apps that do a poor job at replicating it. Is there a setting like this for Android os Samsung Note 10+? I doubt I'm missing it as I mess with settings often, but it is possible. If it is no longer a built in feature, why did Android remove it? [link] [comments] |
Change incoming caller background- Huawei P30 Lite Posted: 05 Jun 2021 05:38 AM PDT Hi all, my mum has a Huawei P30 Lite, and when she's receiving an incoming call the background is a live wallpaper of a blossom tree, which makes it very hard for her to see the white swipe circle to either answer/reject the call. Does anyone know how to change this background? I've tried changing the background to both static and live wallpapers and also the theme but the icons call background remains the same. Thanks in advance for any tips. [link] [comments] |
Question about cmd package bg-dexopt-job Posted: 04 Jun 2021 09:48 PM PDT Coming from an old generation Nokia numpad phone to owning an Android phone (OnePlus 8T), got a lot of information to digest but I guess the learning curve isn't as steep as iOS. The battery drain does however concern me. Then I got into some reading about the captioned adb command, which is something to do with the app optimization when phone is charged to 100% overnight and left idle. Question is, do I need to run this adb command every time I installed/ updated the apps? Also, how well does this command really help to lower the battery drain? Appreciate any veteran android user to share your experience/ finding. :) [link] [comments] |

Galaxy Tab4 blocks all public wifi login pages Posted: 05 Jun 2021 04:52 AM PDT While my mother's Tab4 logs into private networks just fine, any public wifi network with a login page gets blocked by chrome with a privacy error (ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID) I can get to the actual login pages by visiting certain (I'm guessing non-SSL) sites, but even then, logging on gives a hotspot-specific error. I do not have the same problem on any other device on the same hotspot. Is there some network or Chrome setting that may be causing this that has inadvertently been enabled? [link] [comments] |
