| 3 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 171) Posted: 23 Apr 2021 05:59 AM PDT Happy Friday, fellow Android gamers, and welcome back to my weekly mobile gaming recommendations based on the most interesting games I played last week :) This episode covers a promising 1v1 retro fighting game, a turn-based RPG dungeon crawler that is perfect for casual RPG fans, and a 2D hack'n'slash side-scroller. Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 171 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Let's get to the games:Vita Fighters [Game Size: 207 MB] (free)Genre: Fighting / Action / Indie - Offline Playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Vita Fighters is a promising 1v1 retro indie fighting game with 18 unique characters that draw inspiration from Dragon Ball, Naruto, and other popular franchises. While the blocky art-style may not be to everyone's liking, the animations look great, and the core fighting system is incredibly well-made, with lots of long combos and unique moves for each fighter that feel fantastic to pull off correctly. The game features an arcade single-player mode but lacks a traditional career or campaign mode. Fortunately, a full-blown online multiplayer system is in development, according to the developer. For now, the game can be played via local same-device multiplayer if you connect two Bluetooth controllers. Although they can be modified via the settings, the touch controls are somewhat mediocre, so playing with a controller is strongly encouraged. Vita Fighters monetizes through incentivized ads to get an extra life or more power when we die. There are no forced ads or iAPs at all. It's a promising indie fighting game that could grow to become a staple of the genre if it continues receiving updates. Google Play: Here MiniReview link: Here Order of Fate [Total Game Size: 265 MB] (free)Genre: RPG / Dungeon Crawler / Turn-based - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Some tl;dr review: Order of Fate is a fun turn-based RPG dungeon-crawler where we tap to move around procedurally generated dungeon floors full of enemies, loot, and quests while searching for the leader of an evil cult. As we descend the 75 dungeon floors, we encounter lots of traps and interesting enemies, many of which can use special abilities or debuffs like poison. To deal with these increasingly stronger enemies, we constantly equip new gear and upgrade our own weapon abilities every time we level up. If we move our character next to an enemy, it will automatically start attacking with normal attacks, while we then use potions and trigger abilities manually. Before attacking, we can also hold down on an enemy to inspect its stats and attack patterns so we can properly plan ahead. This becomes increasingly more important the further we progress. The overall objective is to see how far we can get without dying. We can leave the dungeon at any time and even get to keep our items and XP, but the goal is to get to the checkpoint at the end of every fifth dungeon floor so we can continue exactly where we left off. Reaching a checkpoint takes us back to our camp where we can upgrade items, craft potions, and dismantle gear we don't need. The biggest downside is that the core gameplay loop gets a bit repetitive. The controls work well, and although the cartoony art-style is very simple, it feels polished. Order of Fate monetizes through scarce incentivized ads and iAPs for a premium currency or gear packs. None of these are necessary to progress and enjoy the game, however. Less punishing than a traditional roguelike dungeon-crawler, Order of Fate is perfect for casual RPG fans. Google Play: Here MiniReview link: Here Earth Wars [Game Size: 725 MB] (free)Genre: Action / RPG / 2D - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Earth WARS is a 2D side-scrolling action game with a hack and slash retro-inspired combat system, mission-based progression, and a massive skill tree. Whenever we complete a mission, we get a score that indicates how well we did. Achieving certain scores unlocks new combat skills in the game's elaborate skill tree system that allows us complete control over how to customize our character. Some skills even act as boosts that can be linked to any of our active skills to increase the strength of those skills. Between missions, we can customize this skill setup and craft or upgrade our weapons. The game is fun and challenging, but the tutorial and first-play experience is so complex that it is difficult to truly get into the game. After a few missions, most of the systems will start to make sense, but be prepared to do some reading to fully understand everything this game has to offer. This is not an easy game to get into. The touch controls work decently well, and controllers are supported. The many skills and combos we unlock over time also keep the combat fresh. The main downside is that there are lots of small loading screens when moving between menus, which makes the game feel a bit clunky. Earth WARS monetizes through ads and iAPs for a currency used to buy character skins and weapon upgrades. We also earn this currency through gameplay, and none of the iAPs are necessary to enjoy the game – although buying one will remove the ads. | The Witcher: Monster Slayer is expected to launch this summer as early access Posted: 23 Apr 2021 07:30 AM PDT There's good news for Witcher fans as CD Projekt CFO Piotr Nielubowicz confirmed that The Witcher: Monster Slayer is expected to launch on Google Play as early access in summer 2021 when presenting the company's fiscal results for the year 2020. Announced earlier in 2020, the game had already been soft-launched in Australia and New Zealand and it is expected that global audiences will be able to get their hands on the latest game in the long-running series very soon. Monster Slayer isn't the typical Witcher game, rather it so expected to use AR functionality in a manner similar to the smash hit Pokémon Go. Players can choose the fight monsters at any time of the day in an augmented reality environment which promises to provide a highly immersive experience not seen in previous Witcher titles. You can pre-register yourself for the game here and read more about the news here. [link] [comments] | ||

| Why do you game on android rather than other consoles/devices? Posted: 23 Apr 2021 11:05 AM PDT Just curious. I have a PlayStation and laptop but I just enjoy gaming on my phone more because of how comfy it is. Playing while in bed is the way to go for me. How about y'all, what made you get into mobile gaming? [link] [comments] | ||
| Looking for a good MMORPG on android (with some requirements) Posted: 23 Apr 2021 09:36 AM PDT Hello Android Gaming community, i don't like to be picky, but was looking for a good MMORPG without energy limiting my gameplay or auto systems bullcrap and with a gameplay similar to Avabel. Thanks for any suggestion. P.S. isn't that needful, but if has some physical controller support will be nice. [link] [comments] | ||
| SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom seems to be priced much lower in different regions Posted: 23 Apr 2021 03:07 AM PDT *This doesn't apply to the US store as it seems to be selling for the full $10 price. I urge you to check your store for the price of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom as it normally sells for $10 (or your region equivalent) but for some reason today I checked the store and in South Africa it's selling for the equivalent of $2.45. So I'm not sure if this is permanent regional pricing for my region or if HandyGames has made a mistake with this specific title as their other games seem to be more or less correctly priced (converted). | Please help! Huawei P40 Pro not registering Bluetooth controller input, Android 10 Posted: 23 Apr 2021 03:30 AM PDT I am desperate to fix this. Throughout the years I have always used my phone as an emulation platform. Every Android device I have owned has been a doddle to set up with a Bluetooth controller. Except this one. I have various Bluetooth controllers, and I can get them all connected via Bluetooth, however the phone registers no input when the buttons are pressed. I have them toggled to input device on the Bluetooth menu so it's not that. On one of the controllers it registers the left anologue stick if i push it left or right, but it thinks I'm pressing A/B. On the other controllers, none of the inputs work at all. I have downloaded multiple controller mapping apps, and none of them work. It doesn't register the input AT ALL so a remapper is futile. I have googled everything I can think of and nothing helps. I'm hoping there's someone a bit tech savvy who could help me out here. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 22 Apr 2021 05:51 PM PDT I'm looking for games like Tekken, Soul Calibur, street fighter, etc. These types of games, but it would allow us to create a room and fight with my friends. So 2 devices connect via wifi or Bluetooth then start a match. 3D better than 2D but if no 3D then 2D is fine. Thank you Edit: Seems like I can't add flair [link] [comments] | ||
