865 vs 888 worth the upgrade or skip this gen? Posted: 23 Apr 2021 04:01 AM PDT Hey Guys Just wondering what people think of the snapdragon 888, im looking at buying a new phone and ive seen alot of mixed opinions With some people saying its not worth the upgrade and to wait for the next release, that the 865 isnt that far behind an 888 in gaming and real world performance. It might be a better idea to pickup the massive price drops on the 865 phones [link] [comments] |
Is there any way in which I could install the Google Play Store only from APKMirror? Posted: 23 Apr 2021 12:40 PM PDT Hello there. Some time ago I got a brand new Huawei phone - only problem is, it's one of those models that do not come with Google Stuff preinstalled - just the Huawei Store. Is there any way in which I could install the Google Play Store only from APKMirror? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2021 12:32 AM PDT I'm not talking about Chrome's form autofill however, I am talking about but Android's version. Android's autofill suggests a alternate version of one of my email addresses, with different caps locks. It really bothers me. This thing pops up every now and then in apps where a login is required. It happens in Snapchat, and in the Uber app, along with other apps on my phone. I've also wiped all my chrome synced settings, cleared history, and deleted all my saved passwords to no avail. I also factory restored my phone and deleted learned words from Gboard. Any help would greatly be appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2021 10:40 AM PDT I use my Google assistant a ton, and it's been working less and less. I went to retrain my voice so it would work better but I can't do it. It says my connection is bad and to try again. I've tried 3 different WiFi networks at 3 different houses and none of them apparently have a good enough connection, I've also tried just using mobile data. I've got 150mbps right now. 🙄 Please help! [link] [comments] |
Google Play Store Stuck at Pending [Pixel3a] Posted: 23 Apr 2021 10:20 AM PDT The last few days Google Play Store suddenly became largely non-responsive on my Pixel 3a. I've already cleared cache and also cleared storage of the Google Play Store. It hasn't helped. I'm not sure what else is there to do. Everywhere only recommends these two options. Any help is greatly appreciated on this matter! [link] [comments] |
Change app info globally (not just home screen) Posted: 23 Apr 2021 10:14 AM PDT I have two different apps with identical names and identical icons. It's confusing, I want to easily know which is which. I'm able to change the app name and the icon, that's easy. Using Nova Launcher, I gave each app a custom icon and custom display name. The problem is that these changes only affect the home screen. In app info (via settings), the default name and icon are used. In the "recent apps" view, the default name is used. On my OnePlus 8, the "recent apps" view shows icons for each app, and the default icons are used. Is there a more advanced way to edit app names/icons that will have a wider effect? Posted: 23 Apr 2021 10:10 AM PDT I bought two phones from my friend and I've factory reset them. It won't let me connect them to the internet through my hotspot and they don't have SIM cards. Any way around this? I just want to use them to watch videos or strore files.

Posted: 23 Apr 2021 09:47 AM PDT Has this feature been disabled? I'd like to get back this functionality, I'm using LineageOS 18.1 (android 11), and I had this functionality back in my custom rom (xiaom.eu android 9.0), and I think that feature has been disabled since android 10. Any tool or app to get back this feature? I'm comfortable rooting/flashing. [link] [comments] |

Camera does not focus in-browser or in-app, only on built in camera app Posted: 23 Apr 2021 09:19 AM PDT I am trying to use my LG G8 thinQ for a coursera ID verification process, but the problem is that the phone camera is only capable of focusing while in the camera app. When using the provided links, it takes you to a third party verification through a browser, and as such it is utterly impossible for the camera to focus whatsoever. No matter the lighting, no matter the background, it simply does not focus at all. The camera remains at what I assume is max focal length and doesn't even seem capable of focusing. I have tried clearing cache as per support, but that does nothing. In prior situations I have also never known it to be able to focus at all outside of the camera app. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2021 09:06 AM PDT Hello, sorry if I am posting in the wrong place, but I'm struggling with my grandmother's Asus Zenpad c7 which she has locked herself out of (and is very upset about). She doesn't mind losing any data, but when I follow the steps to do a factory reset it doesn't show the option for restore - just a green screen with a white android logo in the middle. I've been pressing power and up volume and this is all that happens. Is anyone able to help? Thank you 😬😬 [link] [comments] |
Anyone else dealing with automatic Removal of MP3 from SD Card? (Android 10) Posted: 23 Apr 2021 08:38 AM PDT Hello Bought myself a fairphone 3+ which runs on android 10. I really like it so far. Sadly I ran into a problem regarding my music files on my SD card. They seem to delete themselves regardless of the music player I'm using. It didn't happen immediatly, here's what I did and tried so far:
So in the end I can't seem to upload my own music files collected over the years ... I thought it might have been youtube/google's meddling since I used Clipgrab for a lot of songs. Yet it is very strange that my own data is being deleted from my SD card right? Could you please help me solve this problem? I really want to listen to my music collection without worry. Samsung j5 (2016) stuck in a boot loop, need help recovering pictures. Posted: 23 Apr 2021 08:14 AM PDT Hello (I'm new to posting on Reddit sorry), I have been given a phone from a family friend and their Samsung J5 is stuck in a boot loop. It first asks for the Pass-code as it is encrypted and then displays the padlocks for around 5 minutes. After this long load it shows "starting android" and gets to 31/31 before going back to the pad locks. I have tried a few recovery options like safe mode, removing the sim, changing the battery, and entering recovery mode but it still will not load. I believe the way to get past this would be to do a factory rest but here is the issue: The reason I have been given this phone is the owners sister unfortunately passed away this month and they are worried there are pictures stored on this device of her. The unfortunate thing is this device is an old work phone so it doesn't have a personal Google account on it or any back ups created. I was wondering if anyone could suggest things for me to try to help recover these pictures. It is only the pictures we are worried about as they have been issued a new device from work. Any suggestions are much appreciated, and I can try get back to you if there is anything I have missed [link] [comments] |

Deafult apps using lots of wifi, will this be data if im not connected to wifi? Posted: 23 Apr 2021 07:57 AM PDT So I just got a data plan, and was looking through my internet usage, and noticed the biggest use of my internet was default & google play store apps when I first got the phone, I downloaded shelter on fdroid, I cloned all my proprietary apps into shelter (isolates them into a work environment), and disabled and/or uninstalled all the ones the phone would let me from my personal environment (wouldnt let me disable/uninstall Samsung apps) so I was looking through my wifi usage and my work profile has used the most wifi, about 3.5gb in a week (I got my phone a week ago), which is crazy to me because last night I tethered my phone to my comp for a 1 hour zoom meeting and used less then 1 GB for tethered and hotspot data, and I have tethered for computer updates a couple days ago so that <1 GB wasnt all zoom, so broadcasting and receiving video used 1/3 less wifi then my apps shelter has an option for freezing apps when not in use, so I enabled that, and I went through my android settings and clicked various saving data options, I need most of my data for zoom meetings, not random apps doing stuff in the background when im not using them I saw a option to turn off data completely, im contemplating clicking that, and only enabling it when I actually need to do something, good idea? any advice, im new to phones [link] [comments] |
Old lg g7 vs new iphone se 2020... Posted: 23 Apr 2021 07:52 AM PDT Hey! So I'm in a bit of a pickle and was thinking maybe some of you would have some advice. I had an lg g7 for about 2 and a half years. Recently the battery got pretty bad but it has very quick charging so it wasn't a big deal to me. I could get a pretty good charge in about 30 minutes. That is until suddenly it stopped charging rapidly. No matter what I did it would not accept a rapid charge. So now it would take 4-5 hours to charge and then wouldn't last the whole day. (Not using the phone heavily either) So I thought maybe it would be a good time to get a new phone. I wanted to try an iphone and ended up with the iphone se 2020. It's fantastic for what I need it for and I live the small size. Everything's good accept the battery life. Which doing more research seems like it's a common problem. I can make it through a full day..but not comfortably (and that's with a brand new battery) Now recently I decided to plug in my lg again..and boom..for some reason it's "charging rapidly" again. So it seems like the big battery in my old lg will last about the same time as the small battery in my new iphone. Honestly I prefer ios now for what I need it for, and the small size of this phone. But this is a new battery..when it starts to get bad I wonder how long it will last. Anyways I'm not sure what to do now..any advice? Go back to the lg? Battery case for my iphone? Just enjoy my new phone as it is? Any other advice? Maybe I should just use my phone even less lol. Btw I don't game or watch movies or anything on my phone [link] [comments] |
Advertisements shown on import - How to find/delete? Posted: 23 Apr 2021 07:48 AM PDT Hello all! I'm new to Android and have a problem. There are apparently advertising images/video stored on my phone (Galaxy A71 5G UW). I can see them when I try to import images to my computer using a USB cord. They appear mixed in with my actual photos, and there are hundreds of them. However, I can't seem to find the files on my phone to delete them. I've checked both Gallery and Google Photos and can't find them. (Google said to simply delete them from there, but I don't see them!) I also went through the file explorer on the computer end to try and find them, and didn't see them, though I don't entirely know what I'm looking for besides the obvious, so I may have missed them. Thanks all for your time and help! [link] [comments] |

Best way to get galaxy store's IP address? Posted: 23 Apr 2021 06:24 AM PDT Hello, My ageing galaxy S7 is suffering with memory issues due to the fact galaxy store keeps reinstalling Microsoft office and Google Chrome without me wanting it to. I do not have auto updates enabled or anything of the sort. It's just considered system software so the phone automatically reinstalls it in the background without me being the wiser. I have had enough of this now. I know it's easy to get access to and replace the hosts file on Android devices. Therefore I'd like block access to the Samsung store using that. The only issue is, I don't know the IP address of the store / its automatic update server. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good way to acquire these IP addresses so I can block them? Thank you! Is there a timer that will turn off the bluetooth? Galaxy S9 Posted: 23 Apr 2021 05:39 AM PDT Hey there, I was wondering if this was possible. I usually use wired headphones to fall asleep, but I'm worried the headphones might get damaged. So I just bought some earbuds, but I was wondering if my bluetooth could turn off after x minutes. That way my earbuds will disconnect and turn off automatically. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Odd numbers in the list of WiFi networks Posted: 23 Apr 2021 05:37 AM PDT Since a few weeks ago, when I connect to a WiFi network besides the network's name I find "f=(number) (six two-digit hexadecimal numbers separated by colons) rssi=(number) score=(number) tx=(six numbers separated by commas) rx=(number) [(number) {six two-digit hexadecimal numbers separated by colons=two-digit hex number with a *=number, number};]" Does someone know what is this?. It appeared without having touched anything in developers' options as far as I know, and is still around even after a factory reset [link] [comments] |
