This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:
Rules 1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer. 2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars. 3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on. [link] [comments]

How much does the availability of certain brands influence your choice? Posted: 12 Feb 2021 10:27 PM PST I see a lot of comments saying that Samsung is only popular in this sub because it's the default option in the US, and you can't find a lot of brands there. I live in Asia, and while we don't have Sony, LG or Google phones here, we have more options than an average American. Hell, I had to order my old Sony and LG from abroad, so that's possible as well. Yet I'm using a Samsung anyway, even though I'm not a big fan of their hardware, so not being able to buy a Vivo or Xiaomi phone wouldn't change anything for me (especially since I've already used a Xiaomi flagship and wouldn't want to come back). I'd consider the Pixel though. How about you? Do you feel that you have to resort to stuff that is available in your country, missing out on something cool? Do you feel tempted to order stuff from abroad? [link] [comments]
Galaxy S21 Ultra Screen Protector - Spigen Platinum Tray - Pretty Terrible Posted: 12 Feb 2021 08:19 PM PST Quick review on this screen protector. Purchased it this week as I liked the install procedure which appeared to leave little room for error considering the directions, video and kit inclusions. Removed the pre-installed Samsung screen protector and ensured there was no residue or dust utilizing the alcohol wipes etc. Followed the install instructions after watching the video a couple of times and it went smoothly. Post-install I was pretty stoked. Seemed to bond really well and sensitivity was still good. What I noticed a few hours later on white backgrounds was the following however: The crescent discoloration/mark where the calibration weight sat and the discoloration bordering the outer screen are much worse in person. What the pictures don't show is that from top to bottom of the screen on both the outer left and right, runs a thin 1/4 inch line that appears to be a result of the adhesive. It appears as though there is a significant amount of oil beneath the protector and honestly it hurts my eyes to focus when the background is white and brightness is higher. I left a review with Spigen approx. 3 days ago and they verified my email address, however the review was not posted. I can only assume they are blocking these reviews now. What is interesting is that one of the two reviews posted on their website actually outlines similar issues. I did a little research on YouTube also and there are others out there that have unfortunately experienced this or pointed out that the reviewer's phone is actually exhibiting these issues in the video post-install. This may not be a big deal to some but it has made using the phone an absolute drag. I will be removing and buying something else. [link] [comments]
I think Samsung nerfs Android really bad... Posted: 13 Feb 2021 01:40 PM PST I have a Samsung Galaxy phone. It just got an update to Android 11. Android 11 is supposed to have a lot of great features from notification grouping by type to a better, native screen recorder to a power down screen with ability to control your smart home and get access to your payment service. My Samsung Android has none of that. Samsung's screen recorder sucks. While recording gameplay, it results in a terrible audio lag. The only reason why I got a Samsung Android phone and not something like a Google Pixel is because some of the services it ships with integrates with Windows really nicely (particularly with Link to Windows). Surface Duo does not have the newer hardware that I usually look for in smartphones whereas the Samsung phone I have gets 5G support and NFC support (two things the Surface Duo does not have). I switched from iOS to Android for two main reasons: I was frustrated with what was going on with Apple and its anticompetitive practices and I wanted a phone that integrated nicely with Windows and that I could install almost any app on. What do you think of Samsung's non-stock Android? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Feb 2021 05:22 PM PST After having the headphone Jack for so many years, its time to finally ditch the headphone jack 100% for good. The good news is that the Google Pixel 1 and the Pixel 5 smartphones are created into this brave new world without the need of headphone jacks. Smartphone OEMs can also cultivate and give credibility to the no headphone jack phone designs for more room needed for a larger battery, a bigger haptic engine, and added larger displays. This insures OEM Smartphones to add a bigger room for a powerful cpu and more ram added without the need of a headphone jack For instance with no headphone jacks smartphone OEM Makers can also provide 1w of cpu power efficiency for maximum battery life with the 7% increase in battery size outlasting days of use than most smartphones that made the space obsolete in the smartphones. also the cpu with the performance pet watt if there is a 1w cpu battery life has increased up to 300% because of a bigger battery and the presence of a missing headphone jack speaking of the more info about the iPhone X iPhone X was world's best-selling smartphone model in first quarterApple's flagship iPhone X sold 16 million units worldwide, Strategy Analytics said, with iPhone 8 and 8 Plus taking 2nd and 3rd place. Samsung says there's no need to worry: the Galaxy Note 10 series has outsold its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 9. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 sales shatter records in South KoreaThe Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ have secured a new record in Samsung's home country: More than a million units of the new Note flagships have been sold in 25 days after they first went on sale. The removal of the headphone jack in phones is intended to make wireless headphones more convenient and appealing to the masses than wired ones. Dongles are annoying and cumbersome, especially on phones. Sometimes you want to charge your phone AND use earbuds at the same time. Why having no headphone jack is a good ideaDitching the 3.5mm jack "early" will encourage customers to buy new and hopefully better digital products a bit faster than continuing to support the legacy standard. Those who are looking for more convenience from their audio products will find a lot to love in Bluetooth options. Is the headphone jack obsolete? YesGone is the 3.5mm headphone jack that we've grown used to, replaced instead with a pair of poor-sounding Lightning EarPods and wireless AirPods. ... Getting rid of the headphone jack also means Apple has more room inside the iPhone to put a bigger camera, battery and its all-new Taptic Engine Thank you for listening [link] [comments] |
