If Samsung doesn't have those troublesome Mongoose cores to worry about, nor legacy CDMA stuff, does it really need Qualcomm? Also not on the list: Google. If we're taking that list as gospel, it means we should expect Pixel 6 to not use an 888. (I'd guess Snap 700 series again)

The earpiece speaker design on the Pixel 5 is amazing.

Yes, it is not the first phone to do this, but they have done it well. I have been using the Pixel 5 for a few days, and the speaker quality is definitely lower quality than the front firing speaker design of its previous iterations, but it is not terrible, and perfectly useable in my opinion. On the plus side, these are the benefits I noticed with the new design:

    • Uniform front panel appearance in terms of no hole for earpiece with maximum screen real estate.
    • No earpiece hole = no gunk build up inside the earpiece hole.
    • You can place your ear any where on the phone screen and still hear the caller. No longer do you need to reposition the phone to the ear to get the earpiece speaker to fire directly into your ear. Just place phone to ear and talk.
