Posted: 31 Dec 2020 09:00 AM PST How do I disable this full screen white box instead of the old, simple, single notification box from Android 10? Android 11 is not a good update. Screen animations are slower. App transitions are buggy. Volume display is inconsistent with any other UI slider option. Music tabs have been reduced to nothing but a blank square. I'm trying to develop an Android app, but I'm having trouble getting it installed on my device. Posted: 31 Dec 2020 11:43 AM PST The emulator is really slow because Windows 10 Home doesn't support Hyper-V. So I want to install it on my actual phone. I tried connecting my phone to my PC using a USB cable, and I was supposed to be prompted for how the computer should recognize the phone, but that never happened. I also tried using [link] [comments] |
I can't get this notification to go away! Posted: 31 Dec 2020 11:17 AM PST I have this notification that I can't get to go away! Call Settings New Voicemail Dial (###) ### #### (It's not my number. Android 10. One UI 2. Samsung Galaxy A01.) [link] [comments] |
Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite Custom ROM Posted: 31 Dec 2020 11:09 AM PST I cant find anywhere how to change from the stock ROM to a custom one, like lineage OS. I found some articles for the M5 or M3 Lite, but not M5 Lite. Has anyone done this? [link] [comments] |
What is this freezing phone bug, and how can I fix it? Posted: 31 Dec 2020 10:56 AM PST I had been using the Google Pixel 1 running on android 10 until 2 days ago, suddenly in middle of watching a video on YouTube the phone froze. I forced a shutdown with a 30 second hold because there was no response, but the phone didn't turn back on again. I took the phone to a uBreakiFix store and with whatever they were able to do within 24 hours they had no diagnosis, so I went to buy a new phone. Last night I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy S10 from Verizon and all seemed to go well until a few minutes ago while in the middle of a WhatsApp video chat. Currently it is frozen in the non responsive "on" looking state that the Pixel was in originally and I'm afraid to lose a brand new phone by shutting it down. Plugging it in to power gets no response nor does plugging it into a laptop or Android Auto. Has anyone heard of such a bug and what might cause it, and if it's attached to my backed up files or google account. Any thoughts or ideas to fix it would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |

What google services can be disabled for a minimal usage? Posted: 31 Dec 2020 04:32 AM PST Hi! i'm trying to get the most out of my mom's old -practically never used- tablet, that is an asus zenpad 10 (lollipop, 5.0.2). the last night i finally rooted it after a factory reset and disabled every unneeded app and service that i knew, and what remains basically are google services, that take a lot of that boi's ram and cpu usage. can you help me? How do i format this Android SD card? Posted: 31 Dec 2020 10:13 AM PST I've been attempting to format it for days. I've tried formatting on macOS (it claims its been formatted, but the files are still visible, and any changes to the drive are reverted when re-mounted), Linux Mint (same thing), and Android 9 (which took ages because it kept saying it was ejecting, then it claimed the card was corrupted and needed erasing, and when it finished "erasing" it still showed all the files that were already there). I'm stumped and have no idea what to try next. [link] [comments] |
[Phoenix LG2] Battery behaving weirdly Posted: 31 Dec 2020 10:01 AM PST I'm having a strangle problem with my Phoenix LG2 phone, which is about a year old now. This happened today, but it's occurred twice before over the past month. I'm using Bluetooth headphones to listen to podcasts, using the Pocket Casts app, and put it on pause for a while. When I try to play again, the phone isn't responding. App works on the phone, headphones are connected and things will play through them, but the buttons on the headset no longer work even after powering them off and on. Phone is at 42% power, so I restart it. It comes back up at 2% power, and immediately starts to shut back down, getting to the spinning circle and continuing to spin until I plug it in. The phone promptly informs me that it's 56% power, and finishes shutting down. I turn it back on again, it's at 56%. Everything is working fine, and continues to do. It's a pain in the ass, and the one time that it happened when I did not have a charger, I was unable to restart the phone until I got home and plugged it in. Is this likely to be a battery problem, or something with the software? Or something else entirely? [link] [comments] |

Wifi calling/text question Honor9X Posted: 31 Dec 2020 10:06 AM PST My phone does not have a setting for wifi calling it is an honor. I am looking for a work around. My question is that when at work and on wifi with zero cell service and it stating "emergency calls only" I can't send out any communication. Sounds normal enough. Yet I can send and receive text to my wife via wifi in the standard message application we all use that comes with our phones... 🤔 I have tested other contacts when out of service and I can only do it with her... Really weird I do not have a clue why this is happening. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
My Redmi 3 "system data" is taking up 20 GB of memory and I'M. GOING. CRAZY. Posted: 31 Dec 2020 06:15 AM PST This is my dad's phone and he keeps coming to me to ask what does he have to do when he gets the message that tells him to free up some storage in order to update his apps. I've done everything I thought of doing such as freeing up as much space as possible, installing lite apps (such as Facebook lite), resetting the phone via a factory reset but the problem just keeps coming back after some time. "Misc" files are taking up to 21 GB of space and with the app called DiskUsage tells me 20 of them belong to the system data. Is there anything I can do or should I just throw this phone out of the window? This is frustrating me so much you have no idea. Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to force Facebook messenger to use default notification sounds? Posted: 31 Dec 2020 03:52 AM PST I hate that Facebook messenger doesn't give you the option to use the default notification sounds. I'm in a situation where I have to use it, and the "alternative apps" aren't working for me. My only problem with Facebook messenger is the damn notification ring tones insisting on being special. Any way to force it to use the default ring tone? Changing the notification sound on the notification section of the phone's settings didn't do anything. Edit: to clarify Facebook messenger/settings /notifications/sounds doesn't give a default notification sound option Phone settings / notifications / apps /Facebook messenger / (multiple categories) DOES have an option to make it use default notification sounds but it does NOT actually change the notification sound to user default, the notifications still come through with whatever sound is set under Facebook messenger settings [link] [comments] |
Would making an amazon device run android cause any issues with security? Posted: 31 Dec 2020 08:56 AM PST I have this amazon fire tablet and I've been looking to make it run android seeing as how Fire OS is kinda garbage, but I was wondering if it would cause any problems with security or anything considering that it's not the tablet's "intended" use. Posted: 31 Dec 2020 04:19 AM PST I have a Galaxy s20+, I run a physical Sim for my personal number and an esim for my work number After updating to Android 11, all the dual Sim options seem to have changed I can still set a prefered Sim for particular actions however my issue is when I'm texting people from the work number, I no longer have 2 buttons for send, one for each sim, I have one and it's suppose to stay as the Sim I've been sending/receiving messages on but instead it randomly flicks back to the prefered sim instead of staying as the one that's been used previously for that number Is there any way to stop this happening? Il be sending messages from one number and then it will flick back sometimes without me realising [link] [comments] |

"Sticky" volume control on Motorola Moto G Power Posted: 31 Dec 2020 07:19 AM PST Since a few days ago, I've noticed an odd behavior with the default system volume control. It's highly unresponsive, with a noticable amount of input lag from when i push the volume buttons and holding it down no longer does anything. I know this is isn't a hardware issue, it gets fixed temporarily when I restart my phone and I can take screenshots fine. It doesn't really impact usability, but it's extremely annoying. Anyone encountered this problem or know how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
What's up with the permissions? Posted: 31 Dec 2020 01:20 AM PST I inherited a phone (android 6.0.1) and after resetting factory settings I'm getting asked for permissions on apps. Why does contacts apps need permission to my location, calendar, files and to record videos? It won't start until I give the permission either. If I can't use some function I'm ok with it. Not planning on video calling anyway. Just give me a warning that I can't use it fully and I will change it when I need to. Why does it need to know my location? I turned off location services so there shouldn't be any data anyway. It's pissing me off. [link] [comments] |
Is there a widget for the Digital Wellbeing? Posted: 31 Dec 2020 01:07 AM PST It seems that you can only add it as an app to the homescreen. Tracking time at a glance is important to me so is there a way to reproduce a widget such as the ScreenTime widget for Apple devices? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Dec 2020 05:44 AM PST Hey everybody, I have a certain problem with the Google play store. I don't have any updates of my apps anymore. I'm not receiving any notifications and the play store doesn't show me if there are any new updates available. [link] [comments] |
Default temporary browser for Google app search results Posted: 31 Dec 2020 05:27 AM PST I had to uninstall updates for my Google app a few weeks ago (can't remember why) but ever since, Google search results links open in chrome temporary tabs. I'm like 85% sure it was Firefox (my default browser) before. This is annoying because if I open something that needs logging in to, chrome doesn't have my passwords. But I can't find anywhere I can set the browser. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Dec 2020 05:23 AM PST Are Android Go versions of the Android OS much faster? Android 9 gives me problems and it consumes so much RAM that it closes apps like Music players and Screen recorders. Should using Android 9 Go or Android 10 Go much better? And can anyone tell me where I can get the Android Go roms because I've been searching it for a long time now... [link] [comments] |
