Found why Disney+ doesn't support surround sound on Mi Box Posted: 12 Sep 2020 06:20 AM PDT After decompiling the Disney+ I found a line that disables surround sound when the manufacturer (in build.prop) is xiaomi. [link] [comments]

What is AndroidTV like for Amazon and Netflix? Posted: 12 Sep 2020 05:22 AM PDT I posted a week ago. I want to replace a PS4 used ONLY for Amazon and Netflix, with a cheap as hell device. I hear the new Sabrina Chromecast 5 (??) whatever it is, will have Android TV and a 'real' user interface. Hopefully not a dumb question but surely the Android TV version of both Amazon, Netflix is fairly quick, reliable, usable, right? The current chromecast is pure garbage - having to 'stream to' the thing is bad. This new chromecast sounds like a proper media device. [link] [comments]
Forgive me, I recant my positive review of the Tivo Stream 4k. Posted: 11 Sep 2020 01:08 PM PDT A few weeks back I gave a glowing review of the Tivo Stream 4k, based on a week or so of use. The problems with the device, for my use profile, are more than I can handle. Despite the hit to the pocketbook to do it for all 4 TVs in my home, I am switching to the Shield TV tube at 3x the price. Here is the rundown of the problems I've had:
I'm done. I can't do it anymore. I wanted so badly for it to be true that a device at the $50 price point could do everything I wanted, but nothing quite fits as of current. I don't want to tie myself to the less-supported Chinese boxes, I can't do the Amazon ecosystem and all of the apps they lock out, and I really want the standard Android TV launcher, so my best bet right now is to suck it up and spend the extra money. Please forgive me if my enthusiasm lead you buy one of these. I knew not what was ahead. [link] [comments]
