| Help handicapped man play games Posted: 26 Sep 2020 09:35 AM PDT TL;DR - How does one use a mouse on Among Us? I have a friend with severe cerebral palsy. He's got function of one shoulder and the opposite wrist, everything else is seriously limited. He loves playing games, though normally it's by proxy (telling me what to do) or games for toddlers for the ease of use. A few years ago I broke open a wii-mote and wired a button to his chair that he can hit and put the sensor in a wrist band for his other arm that he can aim. This has been a game changer. He's managed to get through a bit of Dark Souls 2 with some voice commands and assistance. He found Among Us (murder mystery game) and is ecstatic to try it, but the apps we use to get the wii-mote recognized as a mouse don't seem to work. I've turned on developer mode on his fire hd8 tablet and found that a mouse can click and select things. However it doesn't 'Tap' Clicking on the mouse isn't the same as touching the screen (which he can't do with much accuracy). Are there any apps or workarounds that treat a mouse like a finger tap. Right now we're using ease mouse which lets us double tap, we can navigate the menu in the game, but he has to click a trillion times to move 5 feet. He can't just hold a button. (We CAN set it up on steam on PC, but he only gets $50 a month. He has to spend most of that on toiletries. I'm not next of kin, so it's a whole issue in gifting something to him. I can't lend him anything without sitting right there either. All he has on his own is a Fire HD8 his grandma left him when she passed, and that wii-mote setup I jumped through a million hoops to give him a few years ago.) [link] [comments] |
| My new phone gets worse signal than my old phone in the same place and same carrier Posted: 25 Sep 2020 11:00 PM PDT I recently got a Samsung Galaxy s10 to replace my old Motorola Moto e4. but in places where i used to get full bars LTE service on my old phone I now get 1-2 bars of 3G at best. usually it just doesn't connect at all. the text/call signal still works fine, but data is bad. is this a settings issue or radio problem? or do I have to contact my service provider (which i probably will do anyways). it's the same provider and phone number between phones, the only difference being the SIM card, as the old one wasn't supported. any help is appreciated! What kind of options do I have to be able to transfer my files to a new android? Are there any tricks I can use: for example, somehow enabling voice commands to enable USB debugging, seeing the whole screen with only the top of my screen, or just a way of enabling USB debugging manually with really limited visiblity? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 11:45 AM PDT Not sure if this is an Andorid issue or a Youtube one, so figured I'd try asking both communities. Just got a new phone, got almost everything lined up as I like it now. I've added both of my Youtube accounts (one work, one personal) and found that one of them works fine, the other isn;t showing any of thee channels I'm subscribed to. just the awful, vapid, poor level of content that usually goes on the front page because someone at Youtube thinks its popular. Account is definitely signed into, etc, and going to the Subscriptions tab just gives me a load of suggestions as though I weren;t subscribed to anything. But accessing the account from a desktop it shows absolutely fine. This is running Android version 10, and the app is fully updated. Any thoughts? Anyone encountered this before? [link] [comments] |
| Videos keep freezing on playback Posted: 26 Sep 2020 11:38 AM PDT I have a Sony Xperia X (model F5121) running Android 8.0.0. Recently, when filming videos on the built in camera app it will pause for 1-2 seconds and then skip. It doesn't display any problems when actually filming so I don't realise it's happening until I play it back. Just proposed to my GF earlier today and annoyingly it happened. Most annoyingly, it happened just as I was getting down on one knee. Feeling really shitty about it and hoping there's a solution but I think I already know the answer. Anyone know if it's possible to fix the video now? Or will the video file itself be corrupted? I tried sending the video to another phone but the playback shows the same problems. | Posted: 26 Sep 2020 11:12 AM PDT Lockdown is an option you can turn on in the developer options and it adds a lockdown option to your power button options so you can't be forced to use your face or fingerprint to unlock the phone. When pressed, it switches to only allowing your password or pin to unlock the phone just like after a reboot, but I have no clue if it actually reencrypts the phone or not [link] [comments] |

I can find the pic of someone on the phone and I'll want that as the icon pic for my phone. Or I can find a pic of a Harry Potter clock and I'll want that for my clock... Etc. I can get the pics I want. But does anyone know how to change the icon to the pics I have? | Please someone tell me how to make notifications not interrupt music/podcast like on iOS Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:51 AM PDT Ive recently switched from android to iOS (very difficult to get used to) and something that has been incredibly annoying is that when I'm listening to a podcast and get a notification on my phone from something it stops the audio, plays the sound loudly, then after a delay starts it up again. On my iPhone it just casually played the notification sound in the background of what I was listening to quickly if at all. What setting can I change or what can I do to make the notification not obnoxiously interrupt without having to put on do not disturb every time I listen to something? | New Samsung S20, can't get my work and personal email to show up together Posted: 26 Sep 2020 06:57 AM PDT On my old phone I had 2 gmail accounts logged in simultaneously within gmail. On this phone I setup personal no problem, then when I added my business email address it came up with errors about syncing. Then I get this message about setting up my work profile (this is a business phone with Verizon if that matters). I have zero interest in a work profile, I had that on my S9+ and never used it. But after playing and playing with trying to get my business email to work I eventually started to set up the work profile. After doing so my business email disappears (have done this twice) from my available accounts in gmail. I have rest my phone and redone the process of logging in to my biz email and have the same issue. I would like both emails to show up in the one gmail app at the same time, like I had on my S9+. | Looking for a soft Bluetooth game controller emulator overlay. Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:17 AM PDT When playing certain games, they ask you to connect a Bluetooth controller and don't offer soft buttons. I've found a few old keyboard replacements, but none offer a simple overlay that sends the signals that pressing buttons on a physical controller would when there isn't a way to open the keyboard. | Can't get messages for web to work Posted: 26 Sep 2020 07:27 AM PDT So I've tried everything I can find to fix this problem. Whenever I scan the qr code it just sits there for awhile and says "something went wrong try again in a few minutes." I've tried clearing cache and memory, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the messages app. And now I've tried changing dns and even changing ipv6 to on and off as well as trying on data and wifi and nothing works. | Is there actually any full-fledged printing app available? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:10 AM PDT Currently I have the Mopria app as well as the Lexmark mobile printing app installed on my Android. Unfortunately both have severe shortcomings, the Lexmark actually being worse than the Mopria and Android/Samsung system print app: 1). With the Lexmark app I have to manually deselect individual pages, so printing parts of large documents is absolutely not feasible. 2). The system and Mopria print apps both do not allow to specify that I want to save toner / ink, which I consider crucial. Additional settings like color vs. grayscale don't seem to be available either. Of course I won't be able to use e. g. an HP/Samsung print app with my Lexmark printer, I just wonder if there is another printer-agnostic option. PS: The only reason I go through this trouble is that my printer only has a LAN and Wi-Fi connection, but my desktop PC motherboard has only one LAN port and I couldn't yet figure out how to connect my desktop Wi-Fi to the printer Wi-Fi...
