| Are we hacked? Or are our phones just dumb? We need help NOW Posted: 15 Aug 2020 05:39 AM PDT So a few weeks ago my phone screen stopped working and started turning on and off by itself. I thought it was just too old so I got my boyfriend a new phone and he gave me his. After transferring data I factory reset my old phone, and what would you know... it worked just fine. And that was fine becuase we both had new phones now. It's been about 3 weeks since that happened. But last night my boyfriends phone suddenly wouldn't turn on. We were using his hot spot to connect to my Nintendo Switch and it wouldnt connect anymore, But it was still trying to connect so his phone was still on. If I tried to use my hot spot my Switch got stuck in a connecting loop. So then I tried calling my boyfriends phone to see if the screen would turn on and after a few rings something would answer. After a few moments it would beep. Not a leave a message beep, just a super obnoxious beep, and would not hang up. My phone is working just fine out of all of this so far, but it made us paranoid as this is a brand new phone doing something that my old phone was doing just 3 weeks before. I've tried every button combination and let it charge over night and the screen still wont turn on. Something wrong has happened and we need help has quick as possible. [link] [comments] | ||

For the cloned app to work properly I have to select an option on "App Cloner" labeled "Change Android ID" its description states "Allows changing of Android ID reported to the cloned app. This also changes the hardware serial number" would the serial number changing affect the device or provider/insurance. Cleared cache, tried different camera apps, nothing works. Other apps, like Snapchat and Photoshop Camera work fine, but I can't get anything else to work. Dev or publisher (although it does say version 1.1 It doesn't really matter I guess, but I've always liked the speed dial on it and it irratates me that it doesn't just say somewhere. | Chrome auto opening ads from any screen Posted: 14 Aug 2020 09:47 PM PDT I recently bought a new Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus unlocked for Verizon and I am having an issue where several times a day Chrome will open up automatically from any screen to a random ad. This interferes with taking videos, watching videos, anything really. I cleared all cache and saved data in Chrome, deleted any app not directly from the Google Play Store, checked for an app with no name or picture in the apps menu (as suggested online), searched for duplicate apps, and went through all permissions and preferences in my phone to no avail. I have even turned play protect on and gone through the step by step suggestions by Google and it is still happening. I am at the point where I am one by one deleting my most recent apps to determine where it is coming from and it's causing me many issues. Any suggestions of what could be forcing Chrome to auto open ads would be awesome. [link] [comments] | ||
| Problem with charging phone from laptop with an usb-c to usb-c cable. Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:32 AM PDT Around 50% of the time when I connect my phone to my laptop with an usb-c/usb-c cable, the phone will try to charge the laptop. (even when the laptop is already on the charger so it won't work anyway). It's not a big issue, I just have to go to the usb settings and de-select the "charge connected device" option on my phone. But is there an option to turn that off permanently? So far, I haven't found any and google searches also didn't turn up anything. Also the order in which I plug in the cable doesn't seem to matter. It really just seems to be a 50/50 chance. Any ideas? [link] [comments] | ||

| Saw a camera like icon on the notification bar. Posted: 15 Aug 2020 05:01 AM PDT Was casually browsing my phone and suddenly saw a camera like icon which appeared on the notification bar. Immediately saw it and I was confused so I dragged down the notification to check and but it disappeared as soon as I touched bar. Due to certain circumstances I am not able to retrieve my credentials and the only way to get into my account on this app is through this old phone. Everything's been working fine, but I'm trying to think ahead and save my ass in case this thing decides to die on me. Posted: 15 Aug 2020 01:52 AM PDT I installed Gsam battery monitor to check wakelocks and found that Netflix used 2% of my battery overnight while I was asleep. It looks like it was using the acceleration sensor for 16 minutes straight. Is there any legit reason for this? Or should I report it to basically every Android news website ever. In the past I was able to use prediction quite well as I would choose one language for the keyboard (normally swiping the space bar) and prediction would give me words in that language. However, for a while now it keeps suggesting words in a language that I am currently not selecting. This is quite annoying as sometimes I am doing spelling mistakes unwillingly. Thank you in advance! | Google Play Services cause data restricted apps to use data Posted: 15 Aug 2020 06:59 AM PDT As in title - a few days ago I've noticed that an app which I had completely restricted from using data (using Asus Mobile Manager, under Data Usage) sould connect to the internet, as it started throwing ads at me. Eventually I figured out that now whenever Google Play Services has data access (again, set in Usage), some apps can use the data while they're restricted. Yesterday I've uninstalled all Google Services updates and made sure it stayed on older version, but it still causes everything to start connecting on its own. I honestly don't know what to think at this point and it's creeping me out. If it's of any help, I'm on Zenfone Max Plus M1, using only mobile data as I have no wifi, and have never seen something like this happen before. Edit: I've noticed that only certain apps can access data, some are still blocked, which makes it even weirder. [link] [comments] | ||

Couple of days after that my HDD failed and I lost that pictures. I installed dr. fone program to try to return pictures but it says my nokia 5 must be rooted for that. It now doesn't work in the following launchers Lawn chair 2 Nova Hyperion Flick Rootless pixel launcher Customised pixel launcher. In all these cases, the launcher support staff / pages suggest the issue is caused by device battery management or device optimization settings, but this doesn't apply to Nokia or Samsung devices. | Posted: 15 Aug 2020 05:00 AM PDT After some consideration, I decided to post this here as well, as it technically really isn't a question about LineageOS, even though wanting to install LineageOS is the reason I am struggling with this in the first place. Anyway . . . As the title says, I'm unable to unlock my Xiaomi Mi 8 device following the instructions on the LineageOS site: here.
And that's as far as I get. The Unlock app kept telling me that my device isn't connected, so I played around with a few different drivers. Ultimately, I ended up with the following:
This lets me find the device both normally (adb devices) and when in fastboot mode (fastboot devices). I can use Power + Volume Down as well as adb reboot-fastboot from my laptop to reboot the device into fastboot mode. In both cases fastboot devices finds and recognizes the device. However, at this point I'm stuck, because using either the Unlock app or a different fastboot command (e.g. fastboot oem unlock) will … crash(?—see below) the fastboot mode. When I have the device in fastboot mode and I start the Unlock app, use a fastboot command, or I connect the in-fastboot-mode device to the laptop when the Unlock app is already running the screen of the Mi 8 goes completely black immediately, safe for a little line of text: "Press any key to shutdown." At this point the connection to the laptop is also cut. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what's going on and how to finally unlock the damn thing. Some additional info: My Laptop:

| Can't set custom notification sound on s8+ Posted: 15 Aug 2020 04:17 AM PDT I want to set a custom notification sound on my s8+. I created a folder on my devide called Notifications. When i put a random mp3 or m4a in the folder, i can set it as my notification sound just fine. But I want to set this .wav file as my notification sound, but it never appears in the list. I tried converting it to mp3, m4a, even to mp4 and then to mp3, but all to no success. Is there a minimum duration maybe or is there a diffrent reason why i can't set that as my notification sound?
