| Sorry, unable to load data, please try later Posted: 07 Aug 2020 07:17 AM PDT Pixel3XL: I have recently started having a large notification floating at the top of the screen in a red rounded box, that says: "Sorry, unable to load data, please try later" It then goes away again on its own or sometimes if I press on it. I can't see any recent notifications that relate to it either. I also closed all open apps when it was on the screen but that made no difference either. Any ideas as to how I might be able to track this rogue error down? [link] [comments] |
| Signal drop after changing carriers/countries Posted: 07 Aug 2020 12:24 PM PDT Hello All, I have a Note 10+ (non-5G). I purchased the phone through Verizon (September 2019), but I moved to Switzerland and am now using the phone on the Swisscom network (since March 2020). I began having issues a few weeks ago where my phone will randomly drop all signal. It is fixed when I reset the phone. It doesn't happen every day, but this is annoying when it happens 2-3 times per day. If anyone can help me with this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am happy to provide any further information. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 07 Aug 2020 09:38 AM PDT I'm on the look out for a new phone and I keep on going back to the S20 series (though I almost went for the Sony Xperia 1 II) I'm also looking out for the Note 20 Ultra, which in the UK is still Exynos rather than Snapdragon. Though everything else about the phone, looks really really good. Is Samsung's Exynos CPU this year bad enough to justifiably put me off their range of phones? I really don't want to spend a ton of money on a new phone to then find out that the battery is bad/it overheats. [link] [comments] |
| Avoiding warp charge in op8 pro Posted: 07 Aug 2020 09:37 AM PDT So my op8 pro came with a 30W charger and when i buyed it I thinked that i would disable it in configurations just like in samsung phones, but thats not possible. I want this phone to last many years so can i just connect my op cable to a iphone charger and charge the phone? Is that ok and no future problems? [link] [comments] |
| Notifications stopped working for Gmail Posted: 07 Aug 2020 11:36 AM PDT Hey. My phone (Verizon galaxy s9+ on latest Android & Gmail) decided to stop notifying me for Gmail emails on all accounts. This is very problematic as I've missed a meeting earlier this week and totally fucked up on a time sensitive project. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Gmail, clearing app cache, clearing app data, turning off/on Sync in the phones settings, turning on and off notifications in Gmail and in Android settings, and cleared the cache partition. Nothing has helped, and I'm signed in properly and can still read and send emails normally. I would really appreciate any ideas or directions on where to go with this question. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
| Help with fingerprint security Posted: 07 Aug 2020 02:35 PM PDT Hello reddit friends, I'm looking for a way to use swipe no security option to unlock my phone but still have fingerprints setup for use with some of my apps like banking for example. Any help would be appreciated thank you in advanced [link] [comments] |
| Are phones with outdated security patches safe to use? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 02:34 PM PDT Hey all, I've heard that Motorola only update their g-series with 1 major OS update and maybe 1-2 years worth of security updates after release. I understand it's a very vague question but I'm looking to keep the phone for at least 3 years (however long until it breaks) and I'm wondering if it would still be relatively safe to use past its final security update. This might mean I end up using software with security maybe several years out of date. Is it expected to just buy a new handset once updates stop or should I not worry myself so long as I practice good cyber security? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
| Do bigger phones record more "space"? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 02:30 PM PDT The camera on my phone doesnt record a lot of area when recording a video (as an example, like If I aim my phone at a group of friends or something, my phone only gets most of the people in the video). If I bought a bigger phone, would it record more? Or is it the same for most phones? [link] [comments] |
| Is there a way to disable physical keyboard shortcuts? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 05:40 AM PDT I've searched high and low for a relevant workaround, and was about to give up, but then I remembered Reddit exists so this is my last-ditch effort: I have a lot of down-time at work. To keep myself sane, I use the Steam Link app to remote in to my home desktop and play games. Originally, I was limited to games that only required touch-screen input (i.e. completely playable by mouse), but I recently picked up a foldable Bluetooth keyboard with the intention of expanding the possibilities. My issue is that some keys are shortcuts for Android, but I'd like those inputs to be relayed to my desktop instead - for example, if I press "Escape," rather than performing the typical function of the "Escape" key on the host PC's game session, it pulls me out of my remote session and back to my phone's home screen. Is there a way to disable android's default physical keyboard shortcuts, or at least a workaround that's relevant to my use case? [link] [comments] |
| Did text messages change color for anyone else? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 01:57 PM PDT Hi all, so yesterday my sms messages were the normal blue colors however today the ones I've received are white with black text and my sent ones are an ultra pale blue. I have dark model enabled but can't find any other writings that might change this, is it just me? I have a p20 pro but didn't update the software so it shouldn't be a wierd emui thing. | What's the best local music player? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 04:35 AM PDT I am an offline mp3 music guy, I have an awesome collection of my music that I don't wanna give up. Since, I'm switching from Samsung (has local music player) to Oneplus Nord. What local music player do you suggest which is minimal and snappy with no ads ofcourse. Or should I just join the herd and get my playlist on Spotify? Your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
| Help with 8k video transfer from lg v60 Posted: 07 Aug 2020 01:06 PM PDT Hello, so the bottom image above is a screenshot of a video takin' on the phone. The top shot is when I open that same video into adobe after effects/premiere. I can't even play the video in VLC Player (all that happens is the VLC cone flickers for a bit and then the audio plays) I've tried transferring the video with a USB cable from the phone to the computer and I uploaded the footage to google drive. | Automatically end all programs when pressing the home button? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 07:02 AM PDT I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. Suppose that I have a bunch of programs open in the background and I want to terminate them. Usually I have to press the preview button (idk how it's called) and close everything from there. However I want to skip that step and have everything terminated by pressing my home button. Is that possible? [link] [comments] |
| My Galaxy S7 Froze and Started Boot Looping, Cannot Enter Recovery Mode or Safe Mode Posted: 07 Aug 2020 12:59 PM PDT Earlier today I was using Snapchat and my phone suddenly froze and became unresponsive, which I thought nothing much of until the screen went black and flashed up with the "Samsung Galaxy S7 Powered by Android" logo you see when the phone restarts. From here it continued to loop between a black screen and this logo for several minutes until I became worried and looked up some solutions. I wasn't able to turn off the phone, for some reason after black screens the Samsung Galaxy S7 screen always comes back up. I somehow managed to boot into download mode but my PC did not display my phone as a connected device, so I restarted out of download mode and the boot loops continued. I tried to boot into safe mode and the phone managed to make it to the AT&T logo before looping again. A second try brought the phone to the Samsung logo before it looped again. At some point in this process I plugged my phone into charge and the blue LED at the top turned on and has stayed on since. Finally, I tried to boot into recovery mode, but my phone got stuck on the "Recovery booting..." screen and then suddenly started trying to install a system update before looping between these two screens. Frustrated, I found that I couldn't exit recovery boot unless I reentered download mode, and then after restarting out of download mode I'm now left with a weird hybrid of "Recovery booting..." and the "Samsung Galaxy S7" logo looping into the system update screen before finally blacking out. If I press and hold the power button now this strange logo screen flashes on before the system update screen and the phone blacks out again. The blue LED has been on this whole time too. The phone got a little hot when it was charging but I removed it from charging and it is relatively cool. A friend of mine told me this kind of thing had happened to her phone once too; she said after the battery had completely drained she restarted and the phone booted up normally. I haven't yet messed with removing the battery or SIM card or anything, should I try that out? There's only one phone repair place near me and they're kind of expensive so I'll probably be going there soon unless I can resolve this some other way. If I need to factory reset my phone somehow, is there some way I can at least get all of my pictures and other files off of it first? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Aug 2020 06:28 AM PDT My phone is already rooted and has a custom ROM, but I was thinking, is it safer to subscribe to a VPN service anyway? | Brand new Moto G Stylus, USA Verizon, garbled calls Posted: 07 Aug 2020 11:46 AM PDT My old Moto X4 Android One was having the same problem towards the end. I'd call somebody, and the call would be a combination of 1) muffled/low volume, and 2) garbled/cutting in and out randomly. I figured it was the old phone, so for that and other reasons I recently bought a brand new Moto G Stylus. Arrived today. I copy over my settings. I go make my first call on it, same issues. I made a bunch of test calls to multiple landlines and cell phones, same issues. Here's what's in common between the old phone and new phone:
Things I already tried
Looking for ideas of things to try.

| I changed my Account country but no local apps show up? Posted: 06 Aug 2020 10:26 PM PDT I recently moved to Canada from the Philippines. I changed my Google account's country to Canada. I tried downloading local appa like 'kijiji' but the right app doesn't show up when searching on the play store. When googling the app and tapping the button that redirects me to the app on the play store, it says something like 'not available in your country'. I've tried: -ensuring location is turned on for everything -clearing play store app data and cache -rebooting -changing my Google mobile number to my new Canada number I don't want to deal with those VPN solutions. I'm not trying to bypass location restrictions. It shouldn't be this difficult to download local apps, no? [link] [comments] |
| What's the best reddit android app? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 04:58 AM PDT I need the following features:
The truth is I currently use sync reddit app and it has almost everything I need but I can't post images (always failed) and a few other quirks/glitches that I can't stand. I reported them all to them but no response no fix. I need to find another good reddit app that has all the features I listed. I searched "reddÃt" in play store and tried them all (or maybe just almost all). I didn't find any that fits to my needs that's why I posted here. [link] [comments] |
| How do I get rid of the quick reply responses in Facebook Messenger notifications? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 07:09 AM PDT Galaxy S9, just upgraded from an S8, and maybe it's an Android 10 thing, but now the notifications for Messenger have annoying quick phrases and emoji. I like the quick reply notification, but before it just let me hit "like" and "reply" which was better. Is there a way to remove that part of the notification? [link] [comments] |
