Posted: 08 Jul 2020 06:02 AM PDT Random example: if I share a photo from Google Photos I always see her in my suggested contacts (screenshot here). She's not in my contact list, we don't chat, we don't have any kind of contact aside from occasional email messages (from her Gmail account to my Gmail account) that are less than 1 per month or even less. Her phone number isn't even saved on my address list. Aside from Gmail, she doesn't exist on my device. But... I am still forced to see her damn face every time I share photos, links, whatever. Can anyone help me to fix this thing? It's been a horrid separation that caused me a lot of sadness. It's been a hard trauma to fix and it took years. I just don't want to see her happy or silly faces every time I use my phone. Thanks to any kind soul that will give me an advice. FIXED (so it seems) By blocking her on Hangouts I managed to remove her name from the sharing menu. Let's see if it works on the long run... [link] [comments] |

Question about Android 8 Oreo vs 9 Pie Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:45 AM PDT My phone (Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown) is running Android 8 Oreo, but after searching I found it's compatible with Android 9 Pie. Samsung isn't pushing the update directly though like on some other devices. Is it worth me attempting to do it myself? I don't want to brick the phone, but if there's benefits as far as phone performance and battery life, I would like to be running it instead.. [link] [comments] |

Is Android Kitkat still usable for basic tasks & what will be the future of app updates? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:21 AM PDT Hello everyone, I got an Android tablet today that runs Android Kitkat (for free). And as you can guess, there isn't any single software update available (no custom ROMs either :/). That means I'm stuck with the ancient 4.4. But I'm still planning to use it for basic stuff like using Spotify and some Google Apps. Is it still OK to use that device for such basic stuff? And also latest versions of many apps don't support Kitkat, but there are still some apps that didn't dropped update support yet. What will be the future of these apps? How many years can I keep using the latest versions of them? [link] [comments] |
Permanently Disabling Facebook service app Posted: 08 Jul 2020 12:09 PM PDT Hi, to my friend show me the developer option on my s8. The thing is, when I was messing around with it, I displayed the Facebook service app my phone felt as new, everything was faster and no more rondomly freezing. The Facebook service app keeps coming back and I have disabled it again then my phone fast. I don't know how it work but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. [link] [comments] |
Does the "your phone companion" app automatically cast to your laptop thats connected with it Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:45 AM PDT So i was just wondering. When i use my phone it says "connected to laptop" on a notification from your phone companion and i was wondering. Does it automatically cast to my laptop? WiFi Consistently Disconnecting Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:01 AM PDT In the past few weeks I have noticed the WiFi on my Moto G5s will randomly, and somewhat frequently, switch off and only sometimes switches back on automatically - other times I have to manually click the WiFi name in settings. This is not an issue on my Chromebook, Chromecast, or any other devices. It is especially annoying when connected to the Chromecast because I will randomly lose connection from my phone. I don't know if it is a problem with this WiFi alone, because of lockdown I haven't been to work or a friend's house so I haven't used any other WiFi in months. Today, I reset my network settings (losing ALL my WiFi passwords), restarted my phone, uninstalled my VPN, and some other tips I found online but not one has worked and I'm still getting this issue. The only thing I haven't done is a factory reset which I'd really rather not do. [link] [comments] |

Troubleshooting big battery drain when idle Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:35 AM PDT I've been noticing some big battery drain in my Lenovo Tab 4 with Android 8.1 when left alone idle. I'm talking about going from 60% to 20% for example with no activity. I checked the list of apps usage and no strange app or percentage explained it. Then I checked that battery analysis graph and it doesn't make sense! First of all, those percentages exceed 100%, secondly that last decline in battery is while completely idle for about 6 hours or so. Note that this tablet have no SIM, so there is no mobile data at all. I have also disabled auto updates for apps, so that's definitely not some sort of big update. I have searched the internet and found some advice to turn off the 'mobile data always active' setting in the developer options section and I've done that already (even though as mentioned I don't have any mobile data usage as this is a wireless only tablet). Not sure what to do now? Any advice? Thank you for your time. [link] [comments] |
An old phone I have had for a while isn't turning on. Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:35 AM PDT I have two phones, one for everything but my job, and one for my job. The problem is the one for my job (construction work.) I bought it off of eBay for something like $60. It's a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime, very old. I don't use it for anything other than talking to my family when I'm at work and other stuff that doesn't require a modern phone. Bought it because it's not very valuable and can get damaged because of all the stuff going on at the site. I dropped it in a barrel of water a few days ago. It's had issues since then (aside from lag which it had, lol) I dropped it around Friday. No rice, go figure, none at home either. I just let it air dry itself infront of an open window. That seemed to fix the issue but I'm thinking that it caused it to not turn on now. It was working okay yesterday. It started to turn itself off a few times for some reason before I gave up on using it. After I woke up today, it wouldn't turn on at all. Tried some troubleshooting with Google like removing the battery and other stuff but nothing seemed to work. Charger is fine, outlet is fine. Not so sure about the port though. What can I do to fix it? (if anything?) [link] [comments] |
Calendar Syncing over local network Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:27 AM PDT So my tablet is air-gapped and only connects via wifi to a local network that never touches the internet. Please dont suggest a solution involving connecting my tablet or my home server to the wider internet. This is both not possible and not wanted. I have set up file syncing using both syncthing and nextcloud, but both of them require internet access for calander syncing, even though the tablet is connected to a server and I can share and sync files between my tablet and the server. Does anyone have any other suggestions for how I can get calendar syncing to work on an airgapped local network? [link] [comments] |

[help] Notifications not working after disabling Do Not Disturb mode Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:19 AM PDT No notifications appear in the notification bar, exception being edge notifications, which only pop up and disappear. Ive tested this twice, but found no way to force them to work. Last time it started working weeks after, on its own. Galaxy S8 / Android 9 Help/ideas are greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:48 AM PDT I've had 3 different Samsung phones and they all have horrible GPS signal problems. It's always the same. On maps it says searching for gps signal then says GPS signal lost. I've tried compass calibration on maps, turning off battery optimization on nav apps, clearing cache, reinstalling. Battery saving mode is off. All apps are updated. It's annoying that I can't use maps, waze or strava. I run into this problem on android auto and just my phone. Is there a permanent fix? Currently using note 8 tmobile [link] [comments] |
The option to send pictures through text has VANISHED Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:47 AM PDT Hello everyone, I own a Galaxy s10 which runs on Android 10. A few days ago, I realized that I could no longer send pictures through the Messages application. Not because there's a bug, but because the option seems to have vanished ? The button that opens the gallery inside the message app is no longer here. When I try to open a picture via gallery, press share, there is no option to share via the messages app. It used to work just fine, so I guess it could come from the latest Android update but I haven't found anything. Does anyone know what is happening ? Thank you ! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:34 AM PDT How do I uninstall a system admin app? I downloaded Google Play Services .APK file from APK mirror for beta apps and now I'm having issues with my phone. I'm getting pop-up notifications every now and then 'Google Play Services stopped working' and some apps are misbehaving too, it's so annoying. How do I get rid of this? I've tried a few unistall apps from play store but none of them works. I'm running Android 10. On Nokia 6.2 [link] [comments] |
WhatsApp is downloading images to gallery Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:17 AM PDT WhatsApp is always downloading pictures people send me to gallery. It's the only app that does it. Pictures I get on Messenger don't get downloaded to gallery and I can still open them in chat. How do I make WhatsApp stop doing this. It's really annoying. And I don't see WhatsApp doing this on other peoples phones. I have Samsung Galaxy A51 btw... [link] [comments] |
Search results via Google search widget are opening in Chrome instead of the Google search app. Posted: 08 Jul 2020 08:53 AM PDT Any ideas on this? Every time I search via the Google search bar on my phone instead of the results showing in the Google app as normal it now opens a Chrome tab. This means I end up with a bunch of additional tabs opening that I don't need instead of just having the search results as per normal. [link] [comments] |
I cannot add Google:Account to my SamsungGalaxy:A30. Please help. Posted: 08 Jul 2020 04:19 AM PDT When I try to add a new google-account on my Samsung-Galaxy:A30, it goes to the 'Getting-Info' screen, and just closes out or goes out. For example, if I try to add google-account from youtube, then once it goes to the 'getting info' screen, it goes back to youtube. The same thing happens if I try to add the google-account from the settings menu. How to fix it? Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
BT earbuds audio quality, which phone? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 08:04 AM PDT Does it matter which phone I am using with my samsung galaxy buds+ in terms of audio quality, it's what I do the most on my phone so I'd like to know before I purchase. Would it be fine with a iphone? would it be safest to just go with a samsung galaxy phone ? (seems logical since the buds are galaxy earbuds from samsung) If it matters a lot, what are some ways I can tell which are better than others? [link] [comments] |
Should I switch to iPhone? Please help me decide. Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:26 AM PDT So, here's the deal: I've been a die-hard Android fan since (almost) the beginning. I remember getting the HTC Desire HD when most of my friends still had dumbphones. I also owned the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the LG G3, the Moto Z Play, the LG G6 and the Honor Play. I also still have my old Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1". It's safe to say that I know Android and its numerous versions, variations and custom OEM skins. When I was younger, I would root my phones, load custom ROMs and try to mod the hell out of them. Well, you get it, I was an Android fan. Fast forward to today, and I'm kinda getting bored of Android. The endless customization feels almost overwhelming now that I don't care anymore about customizing. I want something simple, that works reliably, and performs well. I'm also tired of how different each version of Android is depending on the brand of the phone. Google's barebone Android is actually very good IMO, but their phones aren't as good as Samsung's or Oneplus's. Furthermore, although this has improved over the years, apps on iOS are still far better than the counterparts on Android. They provide a more consistent and more stable experience, which I now would value. So, I plan to buy an iPhone in the fall. Don't know yet if I'll buy the 12 or the 11. It really depends on how much better the 12 is, and how much more expensive it will be. At the same time, I imagine the 11 will get a sweet price drop when the new iPhone lands. Plus, it's still a great phone in 2020, has excellent performance and will receive updates for another 3-4 years, which makes it future-proof. On the other hand, the only Android phone I'd consider at the moment is the Oneplus 8. It's around the samed price as the 11, but obviously has way better specs. In real life use though, there isn't a huge difference I guess as iOS is so optimized. So, should I switch to iPhone? Or consider another Android phone? [link] [comments] |
