    I went for a run this morning and when I opened my journal and wanted to see the details about this particular activity, I can only see a map and that's pretty much it. When I stopped my activity I was able to see everything and now I see pretty much nothing except for the map. I force stopped the app and cleared the cache too - didn't help.     How to get stable Ethernet/LAN connection on Android

    I am currently using a new Android with Snapdragon 855 Plus.

    I have a USB-C to Ethernet adapter and also a USB-A to Ethernet adapter (with power). So I've tried a few adapters.

    The issue is I can get it to work sometimes and sometimes it just doesn't work or detect the Ethernet connection.

    What I want is to make sure it "always" works and is stable.

    Is there a driver I need to install or setting I need to modify for it to work all the time like in the pic below?

    Night light/blue light filter option missing?

    I recently tried to change the times I have my blue light filter set to turn on, but when I looked in settings, the option was completely gone. Does anyone know what happened or how I can fix it?

    I use Android 7.1.1 on my Moto e4. (Kinda out dated I know) and there are no new system updates, I checked.

    HELP vault app corrupted my important files: AES encryption

    DISCLAIMER: Please read all for full story and check out all the links for screenshots if that'll help, I am not a tech expert so I'm not sure which detail is important and which isn't, so I added everything, Also, English is my third language so please forgive me if you notice any mistakes, I am more than willing to clarify any part you dont get.

    I downloaded a calculator app by FishNet on Google play, it was an app where you can store media files in an app disguised as a calculator and can only be accessed by typing a passcode into the app. They hide the files using AES encryption. Here's an example of a picture (original form) once its uploaded onto the app (encrypted form).

    I put 937 files on the app; 744 images and 204 videos. All together they was 2GB in total. After some time I released all of them back into normal gallery, then back on the app. After a while, my files were missing, and I asked the developers for help. They showed me a section on the app that said manual retrieval or automatic retrieval. I tried automatic but it said no encrypted files found.

    I tried manual and they put all my lost files into a folder called LostFileRestore, but they all had strange names all starting with e-randomnumbersandletters.fileformat (This is the exact same name of a file in encrypted form only without the .fileformat at the end, which were mostly .mp4 or .jpg). When I tried opening the video file it fails, and its the same case with the image files too. I provided what they look like if i tried to open them in form of hyperlinks linking to screenshots I took.

    I told them this, and they told me to make all the image files into JPG (some were originally PNG while some were JPEG, but majority were already JPG) and make all the video files MP4 (some were originally Webm) and then try manual retrieval again, and I complied. But the situation didn't change.

    They then told me to try automatic retrieval, but when I did the app said no encrypted files found. I told them this and they haven't responded to me in over a month. Is it over Have I lost everything? I really need some of those files before September.

    They all have their encrypted names but are in jpg and mp4 formats and are all unviewable. Is there a way to fully decrypt them and recover them?

    Why does my phone ring through the aux output when set to Silent?

    I'm using Samsung S10 with Android version 10 and everytime I have my aux cable plugged in while listening to Spotify the phone will still pause the audio and instead play the ringtone everytime I get an incoming call, despite the phone being set to Silent.

    This is extremely annoying and I can't find any settings on the phone (or Spotify) to fix this. Is this a design flaw or am I missing something?

    Stock Android icon pack for Samsung

    So I have been using Samsung's OneUI(Android 10) for about a month and I have been searching myself a way to change the default icons for Camera Gallery etc. to the Stock Android icons. I have used Samsung's Theme center, but the stock android icons/themes that they have are outdated which I don't really dig that much. I tried going the other way through apps on the Play Store but they require other Launchers(not Touchwiz) and that is something I definitely don't like at all. I just need to change two icons, the Dialer and the Camera icon. The whole pack would be highly appreciated. So can someone please tell me how to do that. I have an M31.

    Overview buttons on top of instagram navigation buttons, any idea why?

    I've been having this issue since the past week I think, not sure if it's because IG update, android update, or some other random crap, so basically this is what happens: https://i.imgur.com/OIm4sI8.jpg I just cannot click the instagram buttons, I tried google but I get no relevant results no matter what keywords I try, the only way I can fix it is to force shut down the IG app and clear the cache but after I close it and open it again the issue is back.

    my redmi note is duplicated in find my device

    hey i have a question that i didn't find answer to , i have a xiaomi redmi note 8, i downloaded find my device and to my surprise i find my phone listed twice first one in my hand and the other one can't locate it or connect to it , do anyone has an explanation for this also is it because i have an mi account and i enabled find my device on it ,should i be worried that my phone is cloned

    How can you get long term security with an Android phone?

    I've been using a OnePlus 3T for the last 3 years. The phone is working great, but it has reached end-of-life with no more security updates planned post October 2019, at least on the official Oxygen OS.

    Three years of updates isn't really great for a device that would probably last me another 5 years.

    For someone that looks after their phone and doesn't have the need for new features and performance, what do I do to keep a phone patched for as long as possible?

    1. Do I opt for another vendor that provides longer term support? (Suggestions welcome.)
    2. Or do I flash my existing phone with a custom ROM that is going to provide the long term support I need? (And if so, which ROM is the best in terms of trust and longevity?)
    3. Or is there another option I've not considered?

    I would add, if flashing is a viable course, I don't want to lose the ability to use Google Play store or Google Pay, as I use NFC pretty much everywhere. If those things would be affected, I would need to know about it.

    A small Google calendar tip that some may like (or not)

    I use Google calendar quote a lot, almost exclusuvely on my android phone and like it in schedule view so that details are always visible but when looking through the calendar and planning, it would be really useful to have all days visible but days will only show if you have an event, so it could literally skip a whole week or more when scrolling through. There is no setting to change this, but this is what I thought of to get around this:

    Add an event for today, choose a drab gray colour and name it something minimal like a full stop, star or "Just another day" and then tell it to repeat every day with no notifications, and then you'll have every day of every month show in the calendar.

    How to play games with mouse that don't support it? (Android x86)

    Is there a way to play the game that doesn't support mouse with mouse? I installed android x86 on my laptop but the game (bejeweled skies) is not detecting any input from the mouse. (Mouse works fine in game menus but not when actually playing the game.) I am wondering is there an app that can emulate a touch press when I press the left mouse button so I can play the game? I am posting here because r/Androidx86 is locked for posting. Thanks

    Unable to root

    I am using android 7 with panasonic eluga A3 (indian. Varient) I am unable to root my device as I am unable to unlock boot loder. When I try to connect my device to win10 pc it just doesn't recognise my device also shows a message that windows couldn't recognise device and something about manufacturer. Is there any any other way I can root?

    Hybrid watch

    Hi! Not sure if this is the right subreddit to post this question, but here we go.

    So I just got a fossil hybrid watch this past week and I have a couple questions about it. I specifically got the hyrbid because I want to keep track of my activity but I still like the classic watch look, I don't always carry my phone so the Google fit on my phone doesn't always track it.

    So my first question: Do I need to have my Bluetooth on in order to track my steps? I didn't think so because when I turn it back on and when it syncs again, the data goes up. However, today I realized that some of the data are significantly different when I open my Google fit on my phone. Some days are only by 1000-2000 steps but yesterday's - my Google fit steps is double the amount than what it's calculated on the fossil app. How do I fix this? Or is the only way to have it accurate is to have Bluetooth on at all times? Which doesn't make sense to me.. what if my phone is out of range?

    Question 2: I'm actually considering getting the sports/active smartwatch as well (either from fossil again or another Android smartwatch or even a fitbit) just because I feel like my hybrid is "too nice" to wear while working out and it would be a plus if I can wear it to swim too. Is it possible to sync/link the two watches with the same account, say I wear one during the day or when I'm exercising and switch for the evening? I just want one set of data - using possibly two devices.

    Samsung Watch Active 2

    I just bought the Samsung watch active to and everything is working great except for one thing. My Bluetooth earbuds (skull candy indy xt evo) and my beats only connect for media. The 2nd I tried to accept a phone call or take a phone call it disconnects and the phone call goes through the speaker phone on the watch. How can I make it so I can hear my phone calls through my headphones while using the watch. Is that even possible? I would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance!

    Huawei Nova 3 not syncing FB messages in sleep mode (locked)

    Hey guys, need your help 'cause I'm desperate

    My Facebook Messenger isn't syncing properly which results in not receiving notifications when phone is locked

    An hour ago, I've locked my phone with the WiFi on. During the period it was just sitting on the table, I didn't receive any new message notifications. I've then unlocked my phone, went to browse some reddit, only to get a new message notification from Messenger (maybe 2-3 minutes after I've unlocked my phone). The message was from half an hour ago, when my phone was locked.

    I should also mention that auto-sync is on, I've manually granted it run in background permission in the app launch section, then I've disabled battery optimisation in special access, also WiFi stays on when device sleeps

    Any help, pls :/

    Random "No subject" mms download texts from several contacts

    My buddy had his phone inside on the charger and I still got 2 of these sent to my phone from his. Im getting them from several people in my contacts list.

    What can be causing this? Is there a fix?

    "No Subject" mms coming from random contacts on Galaxy A20 Android 10

    I have been getting multiple mms messages from multiple contacts on my contact list saying "No subject" mms download "XXX kbs"

    Why is this happening? Anyone know whats causing it? One of them came from my buddys phone while I was right beside him and his phone was inside on the charger. These are coming randomly.

    What are some good free Anti Virus Apps for Android?

    I recently saw some news about some malware going around that's stealing data like email adresses and passwords from many Apps and it disguises itself as a Google Update. I'm pretty sure I haven't gotten anything because I don't usually go on shady websites or download any weird Apps from the Google Play Store.

    Annyway, I'm a pretty skeptical guy and I want to check just to be sure, I only had one such Anti Virus App on my old Android Phone, I even had several but right now I don't know what I should get.

    So what is a good free Anti Virus for Android? I'm looking to download it, scan my Phone and then just uninstall the App.

    A question about USB Debugging

    I want to leave usb debugging on my phone turned off, for security reasons, but I want to authorise my PC (and ONLY my PC) to be able to turn it on. (In case of hardware failures in the future)
