[DEV] My first game! (14 Years old)

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 08:14 AM PDT

Hey, Im a 14 years old android dev, I made some small apps before, and two weeks ago I made my first little hypercasual game.
It is about a block swinging from block to block to score points and collect money, which you than can use to buy skins,
It's just a simple little game to play while bored or in a bus and I would love to hear feedback, bugs or suggestions from you :)
the name of the app is Infinity Hook cause the game is basically a reimagined endless runner but with the hook mechanic from games like stickman hook!

Sooo this is the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.liquid.InfinityHook

Thanks for everyone who's trying out the game and thanks for reading so far <3

People keep begging for a good mobile Civilization, but none have been created, why?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 05:23 PM PDT

Self explained title but essentially it seems like there is a large group of mobile gamers that want a good Civ like game and a tiny handful have been created. Of the tiny handful none have been a breakthru hot ticket game like say a Slay the Spire or FTL.

It seems to me the formula for Civ or even a Masters of Orion type game would translate fairly well to a mobile gaming platform. A lot of civ is frankly spreadsheets and decision point trees, both of which can be made to look pretty on a mobile device. There's a fun random element to each game that keeps pulling you back for one more turn late into the game. Is this really beyond the capabilities of mobile programmers?

Finally yes Firaxis should have been working on this ages ago. IMHO their studio has been mismanaged for decade or more. I don't see them pulling it off.

old and original Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords on android?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 03:31 AM PDT

    PQ1 on Android? anyone anything?

By quick research, there is no Android version, only sequel on untrusty web pages (away from any android app store, non Googly or Amazy) and we have few mixes of MtG or Marvel versions that are far away from the theme of PQ1...

Till I found the hope? - Wikipedia page there was a mobile release - yet as the PQ was released pre android era, the mobile on wiki probably means some Java or Symbian versions, not Android? hope lost?

As Im hooked to MtGPQ for the whole 2020 so far, I wished to bring easier and simpler but also way more cheerful PQ1 to my not so gaming mom.

If not PQ, any other similar puzzle (no need to be match3) game, that have something more than just puzzle, some story, maybe a little of customization of play, and there is no darky theme in it (oh yea, MtGPQ is full all about darky wars and blood and demons and that kind of stuff, which have to be avoided). Also my mom is non native English, so any wall of text is a big nope, same as awesome 200 modes of play and big menus and customization before play (like setting card sets in ctg, often hidden beyond 2000 small buttons and literally overwhelming menus) is a big nope, Maybe something similar in style and theme to Monument Valleys, that my mom enjoyed a lot - super simple but challenging and story rich without text.

    [REQUEST]Finding a game I used to play

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 11:18 AM PDT

    Hello everyone !

I just remembered a game I ised to play 3/4 years ago. I can't remember anything about the name (except it maybe was written in an Asian language, don't ask me which one tho sorry about that) but the game was entirely translated.

    What I remember :

    • It was a Clicker game with the usual Improve yourself and your party.

    • BUT the point of the game was that there was a map to explore with some backtracking to do because after grinding and getting stuff in chests and defeating bosses, you would be able to discover new zobes by defeating new bosses in the other zones.

-You could do the thing where you start from level 1 with your equipment to grind more stuff by starting the map again.

    • Graphics-wise, sprites were 2D and you explored the map in a view similar to the old dragon quest.

I don't know if this will be possible but if anyone can find which game I'm talking about I'd be really grateful.

    Thanks !

[DEV] Made a small game to play in the bathroom. (Almost) ad-free, no IAP

Basically, you control two characters - one facing up and one down.

Tap and hold to jump to avoid obstacles. Tap on the upper half of the screen to control the upper character and vice versa.

No intrusive ads, only 1 reward - type ad.

    Play store link here

    Hope you have fun :)

    Adblockers

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 06:49 AM PDT

Are there any working methods of skipping ad bonuses while still getting the rewards? As time has passed, I've in noticed fewer and fewer games (practically none now) are you able to "skip" ads with an adblocker instead of just blocking them. Honestly usually I don't mind supporting the devs and just purchase the $5-10 ad removal. What finally crossed the line for me is an OFFLINE game that I downloaded thinking it would be fun but would probably only play for a week. Then I saw the ad removal option.... $30. The obvious answer is "just don't play that game then". That is what I will do if I can't find a way to skip the ads by other means.

I understand that most people are against even paying smaller amounts. That's totally fine and I get that. But it should say a lot that I, someone who generally doesn't mind and buys these things, am also frustrated. I would MAYBE consider it if it were a big name game that I would play for months. I would be annoyed, but I might still do it. Your no name game that I'll play for a week because I'm bored? Hell no.

So, is there anything anyone is using that works? Or am I just gonna have to hard pass on this one?
