How long is a mobile games life cycle?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 08:15 AM PDT

So we have come a long way in gaming. Far gone are the days of purchasing a game and it is yours forever.

Out of curiosity, in your opinion, how long do you expect a game that you like to be left on the market with updated content and live servers?

A game I was playing daily, "Pokemon Duel" closed down last year and there is still a void in my life from it. Please share your thoughts.

[DEV] After 2 years, I reopened servers of my indie MMORPG Silverpath Online

[DEV] After 2 years, I reopened servers of my indie MMORPG Silverpath Online

Silverpath Online was my collage project back in 2017. It has 3D retro pixel art style which looks cute for some people and disguisting some other. In the first day of release, few hundereds of players joined in and It was enough motivation for me to update the game until 2018.

So in the end, without advertising and decreasing player count, I stopped paying for servers and eventually game shut down.

I have been working on another game and a game engine but after 2 years, old players gathered up and added me on a whatsapp group of alpha testers. Few months ago, one of my players donated me a server so I can keep updating the game and keep it online.

    Here is some information about the game;

    > Its open-world with day/night circle, you have to progress on mainquest to unlock further maps. There are no instances so anyone can be in where you are at.

    > Chat System(Room, World, Party, PM), Party System, Trade System, Guild(Club) System with your own flag designs, PvP(Dueling), PK (You can kill anyone anywhere as long as they are Level 20+), Jail for PKers (When PKer is killed on PK mode, they are sent to jail).

    > Item upgrades, Elemental Stones (Ex. Wind Stone on a weapon causes shock on enemy), Mixing (Mixing system is about combining certain items to get a better item).

    > Cash shop wasn't a thing until a few months ago, but players told me so they could atleast donate to keep servers online. Anything in cash shop (except hair colors) are given to the player by side quests. Cash shop includes Stat/Skill reset books, Inventory unlock keys, etc. nothing that will make you stronger. All these items are given to you for free if you grind.

    > Game has 3 Languages available, English(USA), Turkish(TR) and Portuguese(BR).

Note that I've had no earnings from this game, It was just a hobby project and because of the fact that current playerbase demands me to keep the game online, I'm trying to reach more people so maybe It may survive 2020 and stay online.

Here are some screenshots (Some screenshots are in different language):

That guy in most screenshots called "Lumino" was a hardore player and 1st on leaderboard for whole alpha and beta timeline, he knows the game probably better than me. I tried to pick s.shots that include him.

Ridge Racer Slipstream still has to be the best of the free racing games on Android. Sadly it's no longer available on Google Play, but you can still download it elsewhere.

    Games like battlevoid harbinger?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 05:07 AM PDT

I absolutely. Love battlevoid harbinger (had it back before the copyright dispute when it was battlestation harbinger). Does anyone know of similar games that play well on a galaxy s9+?

Looking for a game like Audiosurf

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 10:15 AM PDT

[REQUEST] Can y'all recommend any android games similar to Audiosurf? My girlfriend played that game when she was younger and is really craving it again so I'm trying to find her something similar. The main trait I'm looking for is a game that lets you use your own music that you have downloaded on your phone (or if they have another way of getting music like through youtube or something). Second trait would be the ship flying along a track to the beat of the song but honestly if you know of any fun music games that would satisfy the craving it doesn't have to be exactly alike. Thanks! :)

Grid Autosport is no doubt the best out of the paid Android racing games. It originated on the Xbox 360, it's on the Nintendo Switch, It's on iOS, and now it's on Android for $10. You can choose arcade handling or sim handling, and in both cases it plays very well.

Android games with realistic weather effects like rain, thunder, storm, snow etc.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 08:55 AM PDT

All I could/did find are listed below :

    • Asphalt 9 : Even though the game is P2W, their weather effects are outstanding. Can't deny it!

    • PUBG Mobile : Dynamic weather is there, but the effects are pretty less. Only true effect I found was the wet road and muddy grass.

    • Rayman Adventures : Amazing platformer with awesome weather effects. Rain in Toad Story world is my favourite.

    • Oddmar : Only 1 level that I did play/find out, but seems cute with the cartoonish approach. Not that realistic though.

    • NFS No Limits : If you want rain, you got it! But that's about it, rain is like an overlay on screen. The only thing that attracted me was the dirty lens effect while raining.

    • Alto's Adventure/Alto's Odyssey : For the artwork style, it's nice, but not saying it's realistic. But the sound effects are straight up awesome.

    • Black Desert Mobile : Dynamic weather changes are nice in this game. Seems this one stands out in the department. It's a graphics showcase!

    • Sky Force 2014/Sky Force Reloaded : Looks awesome and really 3D quality. Good for the time it was released.

    • Limbo, Toby the secret mine, Leo's Fortune : They have some rain levels but Leo's Fortune even has more.

    • Diablo Immortal : Guess the rain/storm effects are done right in this game from the gameplay videos. Wish it got released soon at some point.

    Honorable mentions :-

    • Juicy Realm : Original game has it, Android simply misses it.
    • Battle Chasers Nightwar : Original game has it, Android simply misses it.

... And I know there are some games by NetEase that's having some weather effects. But I simply didn't find them attractive from the gameplay videos. I haven't played their games either. I mainly wrote the list comparing the weather effects of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of wild. It's simply outstanding. And have to agree, that form of effects is still far in Android world.

Do you have any game suggestions that has amazing weather effects, let me know! Thanks!

    Hi guys.

I'm looking for a survival game. I don't want to join one that could be dead in a month or 2. Which one from the plethora of survival games on the play store, is the most popular one?

    Thanks.

[REQUEST] Real Time PvP Arcade Game

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 07:41 AM PDT

Hey guys, what are some of the best PvP games on mobile? I am not talking about FPS extremely good graphics PvP games, but rather a simple arcade game with real time PvP functionality? May be something like Hexar.io or some other good .io game that is fun to play on mobile? (I feel like a lot of .io games aren't ported well enough to play on a phone).

    The Frostrune bug in game?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 06:12 AM PDT

Has anyone played The Frostrune? I'm having an issue with the horse spirit not coming alive when I have the mural puzzle in the correct order. I've looked at several walkthroughs and even reset my game. Anyone else have this issue? If so, how did you solve it?

ETA: I found it. Even though I knew what the puzzle wanted, the game didn't because I didn't click on the damn horse in the mural. 🙄

    Playpass Buying games

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 08:16 PM PDT

So I've been using my playpass to demo a bunch of things.

But I've found a few that I want and are on sale, but I can't find any way to purchase them without unsubscribing to playpass, and I just dont want to unsub just yet.

Anyone know of a workaround or something I'm missing?

    Thanks, Fam!

Why are some games locked at 30fps?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 01:33 PM PDT

The title basically explains it. I've tried quite a lot of games, most of them are locked to just 30fps and so far haven't found a way to unlock it. Has anyone else had this?

Need help finding an old 8bit Olympics game

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 02:37 PM PDT

It's been few years since I played it and I wanted to replay it bit I can't find it anywhere. It had a really simple 8 bit style, chiptune music and all the disciplices were completed by dragging either the character or the object needed (a 100 meter dash was just you dragging a guy repeatedly on the track while javelin for instance was dragging the javelin to throw it. I have been searching for few days but with no luck, I hope someone here remembers its name
