I started this year with the Sony Xperia 1, I'm currently using the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and I'll be ending the year with the Sony Xperia 1ii. What about everyone else

Beware the latest update to Google Camera - it's being inundated with 1-star reviews on Google Play because it's crashing and taking blurry pictures

    Posted: 24 Dec 2020 04:14 PM PST

While taking pictures of my 1-year old today for the holidays on my Pixel 3 and my wife's Pixel 3a, I noticed a lot of my pictures were coming out blurry and the camera app was getting very laggy.

I loaded the Play Store and looked up the reviews for the current version (8.1.101.345618084) and saw it's completely swarmed with 1-star reviews for the same problems.

Avoid updating if you can, because this is a giant step back for Pixel photography.

Pro-Tip: Open web links from a browser other than in-app Google Chrome when using Google Search Bar widget

    Posted: 24 Dec 2020 06:43 AM PST

It has been months. Insert text, press search, click a link, then watch my battery drain as the Google Search app surfs the web for the answers I'm looking for. Either that, or I accidentally press back and completely lose the page I had. Constant searches in desperate need of answers – nothing.

Well, if you have the same issue, fear no more. You can make the webpages open on your default browser. Here's what to do:

Tap the "G" button on the search bar to open the Google app > 3 dots on the bottom right to open settings > General > toggle off "open webpages in app". Ta da, problem solved.

The answer has been in front of my eyes all along.

The general market share for Android+iOS is roughly 50/50 split in the USA. Is that realistic to your usage?

    Posted: 23 Dec 2020 06:52 PM PST

(USA Discussion based on Market Share).

I find it mind boggling that android has roughly 50% market share. When I met people and those who I text are almost 90% iphone users. It's mind boggling how much I run into iphone users.

Curious where this 50% android market share is? Is it all the older generation? 50+ year olds? My gym is populated by mostly 50+ year olds, and its the only place where there are more android phones than iphones.

And as someone who works with kids (middle and high school), all I here about is kids wanting the latest iphone or getting a new phone...which is iphone. Android is never mentioned except in a negative way. Which is both sad and odd.

Do you find the 50/50 split accurate?

EDIT - What demographics do you think populate the android share? 50+ year olds? 15 and under? etc.

EDIT 2 - Appears the USA marketshare is way different than I thought. 61-38 in iOS favor. Wow.

    Who still uses a launcher?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2020 12:23 PM PST

I've used nova launcher for as long as I can remember. With all the improvements to Samsung's OneUI and other manufacturers skins, I was curious who still used a launcher and what it would take for you to go back to the stock skin?
