| Someone called my Mum, and they could see her phone Posted: 05 Jun 2020 03:25 AM PDT My Mum called me to tell me that someone had called her, purporting to be an amazon employee. He said that they had accidentally overcharged her and wanted to refund her the money. She said ok. He then said "your phone battery is low, could you please plug it in". Thing is, her phone battery was 2%, so it sounds like he really could see her screen. She plugged her phone in and then he said "I need your bank details to credit the money back. Could you please log into your bank account on your phone." At this point my mum panicked and hung up. He called her back 3 times. She has called the bank and flagged it with them - no funny business has been identified. My question is this: is her phone still safe to use? If not, is there anything we can do to make it safe to use? She has an Android Alcatel 3x. [link] [comments] |

| Samsung Galaxy S8+ - Outlook App stopped syncing / sending notifications Posted: 05 Jun 2020 12:13 PM PDT Hello, I've had this Samsung Galaxy S8+ for the last year and installed the Outlook app day 1 for my hotmail account. Up until the last few days there was no issues. If a new email came in I got a notification on my phone and I could use that to bring up my email. I noticed a day or two ago notifications weren't coming anymore. I usually got a couple a day but nothing for a few days. I went inside the app to open my email and there was no new emails. It wasn't until I refreshed my emails within the app that all the new emails displayed. To me it seems like the app is not syncing and sending notifications to my phone. I've tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling. Removing my email and readding from within the app. Restarting the phone. Going through App and Notification settings to see if anything looked odd but nothing. Is there some sort of known issue I'm not aware of? Or anything else I should be checking? | Is there a way of syncing a windows folder to my android phone without replacing files? Posted: 05 Jun 2020 11:33 AM PDT I have a 30+GB music folder that I constantly add stuff to. I want to be able to plug in my phone, quickly move all the new music to my phone, and unplug it. Right now the best I can do is either meticulously move each folder by hand, or copy over the entire library and then "move and replace" after the extremely long operation is finished. When i go to the cellular data settings i can see that SE ANDROID uses 960mb of data (of my 5gb plan so it is quite big). This is for a month of use. Today is the first day of my month and the process in question already used 30mb while i used it lightly (messenger, couple of minute of reddit) When i click on SE ANDROID i see that it contains a lot of system processes but i cant pinpoint what uses the data. | top bar glitched on Honor 8 android 7 Posted: 05 Jun 2020 11:03 AM PDT https://imgur.com/a/x7GUyFx Basically the touchscreen randomly glitched out forcing a restart, and once restared the top bar was as of image (can't be pulled down or re-opened either with touch input, so far I've tried restarting a bunch of times, using a launcher to force it's render and deleting system cache from secure boot, i also checked with pointer position and the touchscreen reads all input in all zones). Both have their issues and I have a choice to repair one. My S7 edge the screen is completely shattered which also means the LED is not working. This phone has some things I would like to have again, but the debug mode is not activated so I have no way to view them. I have the option of fixing the phone and using it as my daily phone. My S8 plus the screen is cracked on the right hand side, and the fast charging does not worked. I've tried every step I've seen online and it doesn't work. I'm forced to use a wireless charger and then it doesn't even work. The repair I would do on this phone would just be the screen. I'm just confused on what would be a better option. I really would love to see the stuff I have on my S7 again though but I love my S8 plus. [link] [comments] |

You could then configure the wifi connection to use a proxy to your server of choice. This is no longer the case for newer APIs. To make things worse, API's before 25 do not emulate the wifi card, so you cannot MITM that traffic. | Stall having issues after factory reset, is my phone salvageable? Posted: 05 Jun 2020 07:34 AM PDT I've had dozens of various glitches over the past few months. They're intermittent and random, so they can be difficult to replicate. They include registering taps as swipes, registering a tap somewhere else on the screen, or registering one that was never made, refusing to rotate, issues with massive back button lag, screen freezing, randomly dropping cell service, and other similar issues. Pixel 2 on Verizon, 2.5 years old, running Android 10, last security update 6/5. I tried the following: soft resets, virus scan, malware scan, deleting unused apps, booting in safe mode, removing the case, and a factory reset. The scans found nothing. Deleting apps didn't help. Safe mode was inconclusive since I can't find a reliable way to replicate the problems. Factory reset only got rid of about 25% of the problems. However, these ones actually got worse: tapping and scrolling issues, and dropped or delayed network (internet) signal. More details: My phone runs on the same network as 2 other phones in the household. All 3 phones and the TV have the same wifi problems, but none have network issues. The nearest tower is 0.9 miles away. This was never a problem over a month ago. I use wifi about 50% of the time, and have the same bugs. I've had some new issues arise since the factory reset, such as Google voice assistant popping up, despite voice actions and Active Edge being turned off, and power button issues. The SIM card has not been touched. I need to know if there's anything I can do since the charge port is loose and only accepting 1 of my 3 chargers. How ever, I want to use the gestures so I intalled magisk and QuickSwitch to use a custom Launcher. I had in mind to use the one plus launcher but it keeps crashing so now im looking for a new one. The image on the PC's screen is so low and blurry, even worse than Vysor free version. When I try the CTRL + G combination, the image is extremely sharp and clear but I only see a portion of the phone's screen.
