[Discussion] Android continues to move settings, buttons, and menus to the bottom of the screen. What do you think should happen to the notification bar at the top?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2020 08:52 AM PST

Google seems to be moving buttons to the bottom of the screen because it is easier for the user to tap on (but also because they conflict with the back gesture). But the one thing that hasn't changed, that remains heavily used, is the notification bar at the top. It's still very difficult to trigger, but remains a key point of interest for just about all users. Whether it is notification themselves, or quick toggle settings, accessing it is surprisingly difficult as is.

Do you think Google should look into somehow triggering if from the bottom of the screen, like iOS? Or maybe swipe from an angle at the bottom corner (and leave Assistant for the other corner). Or keep it at the top, where it remains more difficult to access?
