[Help] Looking for an icon pack that includes a Dynamic Google Calendar icon...

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 01:56 AM PST

Pretty self explanatory, really. As the title suggests, I'm trying to get the Google Calendar icon to display the current date instead of the default 31st. Now, I found a really nice looking icon that does exactly that in the Pixel Pie icon pack, and I was satisfied with it. But a couple of months ago, the icon changed into something slightly different: screenshot

It's the same as before, as it displays the proper date, but now it's encircled by this circular white border. After a little research, I found out that this is how it should be displayed, as an update of the app presumably changed the icon into how it currently looks. But I don't like the way it looks now, so I'm looking for a different icon pack that looks exactly how the dynamic icon looked in Pixel Pie before it was changed. Are there any icon packs that offer the same look or should I stop looking and just accept it the way it looks now?

    Many thanks in advance!

[Help] Icons similar to Aura and Faded, but the app actually works (alternatively: how to make them work)

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 04:25 PM PST

I really love the Aura and Faded icon packs, both of which are by "not just another designer", but the packs haven't been updated in around 2 years, and they don't work automatically like other icon packs I have. I would also welcome advice for these problems in case its a fixable problem on my end, so to be more specific:

    • Most of the icons do not automatically apply when setting the pack as the default (and yes, I checked that they didnt have an icon from another pack set, they won't change from the default icons). This wouldnt be a huge issue, if it wasnt for the fact that:

    • most of the icons are unsearchable through text from the main app/the little pop up for manual choosing, even when I am sure they are in the pack. They also don't pop up under "common", meaning for the majority of my apps the only way to find the icon I am looking for, I have to scroll through a list of like 3k icons and look for it manually

    • and since I can't text search, I can't tell whether a specific icon is in the pack without manually searching.

At first I was like "eh ill do it once and have good icons, fine", buuttt after a while it got annoying that downloading a single app usually meant 5 minutes of searching. I havent had this issue with other icon packs I've tried. Like I said, I would welcome a solution for this if its an issue on my end, cause I really like these icons, and I even tried emailing the designer to ask but I got no response. If its just a consequence of the app being busted after 2 years of being abandoned, heres what I want out of a non-busted replacement:

    • I really love the general color scheme of Faded which as the name suggests is a little washed out, but very colorful. The calmer muted tones are great. I also like Aura's color scheme, but its maybe a bit too limited for me. "Vintage rainbow thats been left out in the sun too long" is my ideal color scheme I guess?

    • They both have some creative and fun designs for popular apps and basic things like folders/calendars/email/etc. Thats the biggest thing I want, cute, creative, and fun designs

    • I like packs that are easy to read and look good big, preferably no super-duper minimalist stuff.

    • shapeless packs are better (where icons can have unique shapes instead of being all square or all circles)

    • Also, while I wont say gradients are always bad, I do think super gradient heavy icon packs can be really ugly. I generally prefer flatter designs with any gradients being really subtle and rarely used.

    • and of course, it helps for the icon pack to not have glitches that mean changing a single icon takes 5 minutes. Being actively updated helps, but not really necessary if its both pretty complete and non-broken.

    So, suggestions?
