Superbowl in 4k on Android TV

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 05:47 AM PST

I checked Fox's website and can't tell if Android TV is a supported platform for 4K but it doesn't appear to be. Can anyone confirm? It appears FireTV is but Android TV isn't which doesn't make any sense to me.

Xbox doesn't appear to be either which is also weird.

    Box recommendation

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 05:41 AM PST

    Hello,

My old Chromecast has been dying for a long time. Yesterday, it finally happened.

I've been taking a look online and I'm not sure it there's any point on getting a new one (Ultra more than probably to use an ethernet and have 4k) or getting something else.

In this something else list I've been taking a look to the Amazon stick, the Xiaomi box and a lot more of devices for a similar price.

What do you think I should get? I mostly cast Netflix and YouTube and I would like to have Kodi too. If a box is a better option, is there any box coming for which I should wait? Anything in the market that it's really good? (Apart from Nvidia one that is too expensive for what I want I think).

    Thanks in advance!

Has anyone heard news about rooting the Nvidia Shield 2019!

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 07:10 PM PST

I'm super curious about this. I figured there'd be tons of news about this.

Ah, apparently I can't remove the exclamation mark I accident put in the post's title. Cool.

Nvidia Shield Accessibility Bug - Could rooting fix the issue?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 08:18 PM PST

I have been trying to remap buttons using Button Remapper and Tasker - it works great until you try and use the Home Screen. Every menu item opens a drop down menu and it's very annoying to use. Any ideas for a work around by using a rooted device?

Anyone know of an app for Android TV so I can set sleep times and wake times for my Android TV box? I would like Android TV box to manage the tv sleep through cec rather than set it on my TV itself, as with frequent power outage in my country, the setting on the tv itself always gets lost

Can you connect a mouse or keyboard to MiBox S?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 12:42 AM PST

Before you go crazy on me stating that all Android TV boxes can connect to external peripherals, hear me out kind souls.
I have tried connecting usb wireless mice and bluetooth mice but somehow - the mouse cursor never appears on my screen. I've tried mouse toggle (having to use a workaround with an android mouse app) and it works - but it's not pleasant.

I've tried googling but no one seems to have this issue and I'm starting to worry if it's my unit alone. Can anyone who owns a MiBox S confirm if they have no issues whatsoever with external mice?

p.s. I owned the original MiBox and everything connects seamlessly.

    T95Q Android Box

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 07:09 PM PST

I checked the rules. Not sure if this sub is strictly for official Android TV or not.

    Got a T95Q off Amazon (https://www.amazon.ca/T95Q-Turewell-Quad-core-Cortex-A53-Ethernet/dp/B07K45NM81).

It works really well and everything but it has this annoying screensaver thing. It's not just a screen saver, but a system app called "hello_test" and basically just displays stupid advertisements and sometimes I'll be watching something and it'll overlay what I'm watching.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and is it safe to remove it? I did some googling and someone said NOT to delete it since it'll prevent the thing from booting altogether but I am not sure if I really believe it. Thanks for any replies

    Live Channels

Is there a subreddit for Live Channels? I have just started to use it and have questions about how to save/create/manage Favorites.

    Thanks!

Bluetooth audio delay since AndroidTV 9.0 on MiBox S

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 12:04 PM PST

Hi all, I'm experiencing a significant audio delay using bluetooth on my MiBox S since updating to 9.0 yesterday. All apps are affected, including Live TV. I had no issue before using 8.1. Does someone else have the same issue / know how to downgrade to 8.1? Cheers

    Xbox Bluetooth Controller

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 11:29 AM PST

I have a Sony Bravia TV. When I first synced the Xbox controller to the TV it synced up fine. Next time I tried to use the controller, It wouldn't connect even though the Xbox controller was still showing in the devices from last time. So I unpaired and synced again, however. This time it kept saying 'couldn't pair' it took several tries for it to eventually pair.

    Is this normal?

Best Android TV Box for non-tech people

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 02:46 PM PST

    Hi Everyone,

My older (65-75 Year old members) family was interested in cutting the cord and I wanted to get them set up with an android TV box. I personally have an Nvidia shield that I run everything on and I love... but while it is solid, I feel like it could be more than they need. Is there a box that people have found that is this is user friendly, has a simple to use remote (The stock Nvidia isn't the best IMO) , that doesn't lock up/freeze up too often?

They'd be using streaming services almost exclusively so Netflix, SlingTV, Prime etc. so no need to have gaming be a priority.

Worse case i'll get them an nvidia but wanted to see if there was a cheaper way.
