PSA: Samsung will not fix Samsung products bought in a different country

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 07:42 PM PST

I found this out the hard way when I took two seperate devices (Galaxy s8+ and Galaxy buds) into the Samsung store due to independent issues, in Australia. They refused to even look at both due to being international models. The buds being from New Zealand, unsure on the phone.

In my bewilderment at the lack of global support I called my local Apple store asking for a hypothetical repair of an overseas iPhone. They had no issues whatsoever.

Just thought this needed to be better known as online purchases are more popular and you may get stuck with an international model and no official repair available to you as in my situation.

Tip: It is super easy to set multiple wallpapers on Android to change every hour/day/week if you can't decide what wallpaper to use!

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 04:26 AM PST

I just found out about the App 4K Wallpapers which allowed me to set a folder of pictures I took on vacations as my wallpaper (looks a bit old but didn't request any shady permissions for me). It was super easy to set up and now every time I pick up my phone I'm happy remembering the place the photo is from. This level of customization is what I love about Android and hope never goes away. Here are a few examples of this :)

    Hope you enjoy ^

New navigation concept: Gesture navigation + navigation buttons! The best navigation concept? What do you think?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 02:52 AM PST

With android 10 google introduced a new gesture navigation system. Unfortunately it doesn't fit seamless in the android ecosystem.

Back gestures on screen edges ofthen cause false actions like on opening hamburger menu or scrolling in a gallery. Whith two hand phone usage back gestures feel very uncomfortable. Also the google assistant gesture from screen corners can be hard to trigger with one hand.

I really like the home gesture where you push an app up to the homescreen with a nice smooth animation, but the rest just felt not natural to me.

So i created a little app to tune the android 10 gesture navigation!

The app is called gesturePlus. It adds an invisible navigation button to the gesture navigation bar and allows you to launch any action with a single or long press.

Just press the navigation bar to jump back, launch google assistant, mute your phone, take a screenshot, turn on flashlight or do whatever you like!

For me it feels very natural as i now have one center spot for navigation. Swipe up for home, tap to go back and long press for google assistant. Got used to it instantly.

The app is in beta stage currently and free in basic functionality. Feel free to post any suggetions. What do you think about the navigation concept?
