Is 1.1.1.1VPN app safe to use?

I'm concerned about privacy. Some article said, they might be stealing personal user data and selling it to ad companies. Is true or Hoax?

Easy Way to Install App Into Sandbox

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 02:51 AM PST

Is there a simple way to install an app in a sandbox on an Android device so the app won't have access to phones real data? Specifically I'd like to install WatsApp without giving it access to my contact list.

    Thanks

The added "oh" before the comma using Google voice

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 10:24 AM PST

My Galaxy note 8 was adding an "oh" before the comma constantly when I was using Google voice, and it seems like many others are having this problem.

The fix is very easy. Under Language and Input, go to the voice keyboard and select "Generic English" in addition the US English (or whatever English you are using).

Here is a write-up if you don't know how to do that https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/speech-text-adding-oh-before-every-comma-heres-fix-0202187/

It won't let me add apple music as default player.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 11:38 AM PST

Hi, I had a pixel four and was able to have apple music as the default player. Then dropped it and had to get a new pixel 4. Now it won't let me.

To be clear I know how to set it as default. Go into the assistant, services and music. But apple music does not show in the list.

I have a contract that means apple music does not use any data, I'm familiar with it and I like it so I'd really like to stick. But this is a pain.

    Any ideas?

Weird question: how can I purposefully create audio latency on my Android device?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 11:34 AM PST

I'm wondering if there's an app that can achieve this. The reason is this: I'm using an app to cast my phone screen to my Apple TV to watch movies, videos, etc., while streaming the sound to a bluetooth speaker. However, there is a bit of a delay when casting the screen to the TV, but no delay for the sound.

So, is there a way to manually set a specific amount of audio latency so that it syncs up well? Any help would be much appreciated.

Why can't I install some local apk? (downloaded from playstore)

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 11:13 AM PST

Some apps are not installing after taking backups. Example : Reddit apk / 1.1.1.1 apk Can't even find the latest version for these apps from apkpure/apkmirror etc. Why is this happening? What's the solution for this specific problem? (Don't suggest alternative please) [[OS : MIUI11 global stable, Android 9]]

how to stop background syncing notifications from being displayed?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 10:24 AM PST

I was messing with the settings for notifications, and that caused these notifications to be shown whenever I turn on my phone, but I cannot work out what setting to change.

How to remove "sentence" from display

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 05:55 AM PST

What I mean by this is, on my Google Pixel 4, on my lock screen I wrote a sentence on it a while ago and I don't know how to remove it. It's under the date and above my notifications.

If I use a Chromecast to watch videos on my TV from my phone, will the data usage be considered phone data or hotspot data?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:35 AM PST

Hopefully it's phone data, since that is truly unlimited. My hotspot feature has only 15GB of 4G data, then it slows down after that.

Is there a good guide to reverting back to portable storage from adopted? (Already figured out how to fix SD card not installed)

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:28 AM PST

Need to go back to portable storage with a 90% full phone and 50% full adopted SD ...it sucks.

I have a 200GB adopted SD card in Moto Z Play. If I go above 30 of my 32GB internal the external adopted becomes "SD card not installed". This happened three times now and I fixed it by uninstalling a useless app I knew was installed on main storage.

So, I've had enough, I'm going back to portable and bought a new 256GB to replace it.

Looking for a definitive guide on how to move our migrate an adopted storage back to being portable so it will be simple to copy everything to new card.

I have about 30-40apps installed, all my images are backed up to my PC and cloud using usb and debug mode. I couldn't back up any app folders though, copy failed every time.

All I know is that you can go to settings and tell phone to change it back to portable, but if the phone is full it can't be that simple!?!?

    Different security patch versions?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:23 AM PST

Hello, I recently got the January patch on my Galaxy S10 but my "Google Play System Update" still says December? Is this normal? And how is it different from regular security updates?

Nokia 7.1 with Android One 10: Incoming calls do not wake phone screen.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 09:23 AM PST

When a call comes in and the screen is off it does not wake . When its ringing and I manually wake it with the power button it only shows the incoming call in the notifications on the lock screen with no option to answer it. When I am on my phone doing email or any other apps and a call comes in I do get a small incoming call dropdown at the top with Answer and the other two buttons. All notification settings are turned on in the settings. Was working fine in Android One 9. Did the 10 upgrade about a month ago and the problem appeared. Any ideas?

    Running .exe Files on Android?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 12:30 AM PST

Hello all, not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I'm not too sure where else I can.

    I own a Samsung 9 Plus running android 9.0/ one u 1.0.

As stupid as this sounds, I've been looking for ways to run a .exe file on my phone since my computer is fried. It's for this raidfinder program used for pokemon.

I've tried Inno Setup Extractor and quickly realized it only runs specific types of .exe files. Someone recommended to me using linux emulators but I've never used linux before and couldn't get it to work.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Transfer from old phone to a new phone (App Data)

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 08:00 AM PST

I recently acquired a new phone and started the process of transferring information over from the old device. I originally used the Google Drive backup method, but ran into some issues. I then used the app that came with the new phone and it was able to transfer over the call log, sms, photos, documents, downloads, and apps.

The one thing that didn't get transferred is all the underlying data associated with the apps like the logins. For example, my Google Authenicator app, but it's like I'll have to set it up all over again. Also my Reddit app transferred, but none of the logins associated with the app on the old phone.

Is there a way to get this underlying, associated information to transfer as well?

Dark Mode not what it seems to be

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 07:06 AM PST

I've got a Nokia 6.1 that got the Android 10 update a week ago. But what I noticed is that the dark mode didn't turn the settings interface into a pure AMOLED dark screen. Just some dark grey interface. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this? Thanks.

    Voice commands on a motorcycle

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 06:55 AM PST

I just found that Google now forces you to go through the lockscreen to open apps like Spotify through voice commands. Not fucking happening, on a motorcycle. It's a security check that will get me killed.

I need to be able to manage my phone without interacting with it physically in any way. Is there a way to do this, google approved or otherwise?

Define storage caps per app basis

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 06:13 AM PST

    My beloved people of Reddit,

is there any way to define how much storage space an app can use?

I'm tired of uninstalling apps, deleting apps data and deleting files to see the newly freed space begin swallowed in just some hours by those "storage abusive" apps!

The worst of all is that I have real needs with some of those apps.

Take Outlook for example, it wastes space caching old e-mails that i'll not read and it lacks any settings to control this behavior. I use it with my personal and work accounts and cleaning its data means going through the authentication steps again... for each of the accounts... on a daily basis... and it's just one of those problematic apps...

Using the "delete things" method repeatly\constantly looks just dumb, a poor made process design choice...

And i don't care about loss of functionality, they'll have to deal with whatever space i judge them worthy having. =)

Google Factory Reset Protection (FRP) Scam?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 05:27 AM PST

Hi, an elderly friend's wife recently passed away and he was left with a Galaxy Tab 2 which had a password and was related to his late wife's Gmail account. After taking a look at it myself and some reading understood that it was pretty difficult to break. In the meantime, another friend managed to wipe the Tab but we were still getting the request to login with the Gmail account. With this, I took it to a local IT business who specialise in this thing. They have gave me some crazy quote to unlock it as they have to pay Google for an FRP unlock? Was wondering if we're getting scammed or if this is an actual thing?

TLDR: Galaxy Tab 2 Wiped but can not get in without Gmail account and a crazy quote from a local company to pay Google for FRP unlock. Is this true?
