TCL Android TV - Percee TV (Power On from Google Home Issue)

Fix for Powering ON the TCL Android TV from Google Assistant or Google Home and other similar devices.

Such a first world problem but I could only power off my TCL 65 X7 and not power on, annoying as hell, because afterwards I just could use any phone to act as Android Remote, or just cast YouTube/Spotify from my Lenovo Smart Clock. Here is how to do it.

    1. Turn On Network Standby : Settings > Bottom of Network Settings
    2. Turn On Developer Mode : Press OK several times until TV prompts you being few steps away from developer.
    3. Turn On Never Sleep while Charging. (Cannot Verify the effectiveness of 2 & 3)
    4. Go to Secret TCL Settings Menu : On your Non-Smart Remote > Settings Button > Picture Settings > Advanced Settings > While Contrast is highlighted,

    Press the Numbers 1, 9, 5, 0

    Do not open Contrast

Settings > Main Menu (Service Menu).

Here if you mess up anything just perform NVM Reset to set default values.

Up/Down Arrow Keys to Select Options. Right/Left Arrow Keys to Change. Menu (Hamburger) Button to go back. Back Key to exit.

4a. Factory Menu > Power Mode > Change From "Standby" to "Last".

Go Back and Reboot. Also reboot your Google Home or Google Assistant device.

(Tip: If you get stuck somewhere at something like "P" verbose logging, your remote will stop functioning, Press the "OK or Power" button on TV itself to go back,

Also unlike some tips on Internet, you can use LAN for TV for the power on function to work, no need to change to WLAN only : Just extra latency for 4K streaming.)

What is the best streaming hardware as of early 2020?

You have all these various versions of Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Nvidia, Mi box, firestick, etc.

I was just wondering if theres a clear winner? I have a smart TV but I dont know if theres a quality of life that a Roku brings that I wouldnt have otherwise. I have an android and a ps4, and a very nice gaming computer. I dont know if this points me to chromecast or nvidia shield, or if Roku ultra is the best bang for the buck, or if Apple TV is worth every penny , etc.

Android TV App Keyboard Not Working

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 02:59 PM PST

Seems to be bug with Android TV app keyboard not inputting text to TV. Workaround is to use a physical USB keyboard to input text. I'm on a Sony Bravia.

Any way to connect Mi Box S to Alexa?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 10:24 PM PST

I've scoured through reddit threads about this but can't seem to find a solution that actually works apart from getting a Logitech Harmony. Not really willing to spend on one just for the mibox (I managed to link other devices to alexa except for the mibox so I don't really need another remote).

There are mixed answers regarding whether or not the Mi Box S has an IR receiver but unfortunately, I can say that mine doesn't. I have a smart IR receiver (similar to broadlink) that I use to connect my TV to alexa and while the Mi Box is in the list of devices, none of the remotes seem to work. I even tried to let the receiver "study" the Mi Box remote but the IR receiver won't respond to my remote. I'm currently using the alberto sonorus app but all it does is open and close the apps.

I'm looking for a something that can do basic play-pause-fast forward functions when I'm watching netflix and stuff. I'm wondering if there are any bluetooth smart receivers that I can add to the smart home app so I can link it to alexa?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-55w800c, and am trying to sideload the Official PS4 Remote Play apk (as it is not available in the Google Play store). Has anyone been able to get this working?

I manage to install it, but it fails to start.

Any help appreciated! Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this question.

    Android TV and TNT

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 01:07 PM PST

HelloSo we just ordered a new Android TV, this is the first time im getting my hand on one of those

I have several questions which i cant find clear answer about it

    1. The TV can be connected in wifi to my router on its own ? or do i need a special wifi equipment alongside the TV to be able to log in ?

2 ) Can i receive the standard TNT directly via the TV or do i need a need a special TNT box ?

    Thanks :)

Edit : i am from France, TNT is free here, that's why im curious if i can get it directly via the wifi of the TV, or if need to plug the cable anyway
