Dedicated Android gaming device... Posted: 11 Jan 2020 09:10 PM PST Hi folks, I'm looking at having a dedicated gaming device for a mixture of emulation and Android games (GTA, etc) and was wondering what you all thought. I'm considering a Powkiddy X18, Moqi I7s, A budget gaming phone + controller (probably the Xiaomi Black Shark 1 or 2) or waiting until I upgrade tablets and turning my Mi Pad 4 plus into a gaming tablet. I've got a GPD XD+ that I've really had fun with but it's feeling it's age (from loads of use), and I'm thinking I'll retire and replace it, It's essentially something I'll want to throw in the backpack and it'll live there. I'm leaning towards the budget gaming phone because I think it'll be easier to find a case that suits. [link] [comments]

[REQUEST] Looking for something similar to Papers Please! Posted: 11 Jan 2020 03:38 PM PST Just as the title says, something similar to that game. I've been watching jacksepticeye play it and it really caught my eye. I searched google play but most games that were similar were poorly rated. Any ideas? [link] [comments]

Dungeon Faster vs Runestone Keeper [Tile off!] Posted: 11 Jan 2020 02:11 PM PST Hey, so here's a little comparison of the 2 games I've been playing for a while now. Most of you are probably familliar with Dungeon Faster. That's probably because it's a bloody awesome game, but also because it's a fairly recent game. It's a tile based collector's card RPG of sorts. You pick a hero, you select your starting cards, and you head out to click all them juicy tiles out of existence, revealing traps, new cards, items, and of course, monsters. Every time you attack your damage reduces, so you have to keep your swords sharp as much as you can. Slap them cards on your enemies in the right order, and you end up being stronger after the fight than you were before. Magnificent card bamboozlings are possible in this game, and the replay value is magnified with the recent infinity mode update. At the end of each run you get to upgrade your cards and your hero, and become even more powerful the next time you play. Dungeon faster is a great game to occupy fiddly fingers as well as strategic thinking. You can go crazy, or you can go smart. It's your choice. Either way, the game is crazy looking, crazy sounding and crazy satisfying. Very modern, very experimental, and crafted with love. Monetization:
Now the newcomer (to me at least) is actually an older title named Runestone Keeper, which, to my surprise, has very little people talking about it. Why is that? Well... it's an older game, the last update was in 2017, BUT that doesn't mean it won't stack up! First of all, this tile based game is almost not a card game at all. In fact, apart from the same click-to-reveal madness there are no cards so to speak of. Though the exploration part of the game feels very similar to Dungeon Faster. You have a grid (your dungeon), and you click to reveal what's behind each tile. Traps, loot, helpful items, etc. Unlike Dungeon Faster though, you have to reveal adjacent tiles to the ones you've already explored, making your clicks a bit more systematic. The main difference, however, is the fact that this game is actually built around an RPG system. You have your inventory for your items, you have your consumable magic items, you have your spells, your mana, souls, HP... AND you have a special in-game rune system which allows you to buy various boosts for your runs. After you die, you can also use your saved gold to buy some permanent upgrades, single-run items, and boosts. The core gameplay focuses much more around the dungeon layout, and the strategic use of your resources (mana and souls). Most of the time you can explore without the creatures "stopping you" to fight. They just stand there and it's up to you to fight them. They do block adjecent tiles though, so you can either attack, or reveal the tiles around to see if you can find something to aid you in your endeavors. Like a ballista just sitting there conveniently, just waiting to be shot... or you can just sneak around and don't bother. You do get bonuses for clearing the whole floor though, so there's a motivation to go balls to the wall on them. Monetization:
Alright let's wrap this up. I'm a huge fan of this tile-based genre, and these two games are a great example of this mechanic. Despite being quite different, they both scratch a similar roguelite discovery/exploration/tile/adventure itch, and you will likely die and need to upgrade before your next run. Monetization is fair, and so far I haven't found any glitches or bugs in either of them (though the comments on RK sometimes report issues, so keep that in mind - it's an older game). I strongly recommend anyone playing one to play the other. They are both free with permanent premium IAPs, and they both deserve to be seen. Alright, good night fellas! [link] [comments]
Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap not launching Posted: 11 Jan 2020 12:43 PM PST I'm using a Android 8.1 device using a SD 710 processor, but every time I launch the game. It'll just stay on the splash screen saying "Loading Assets 100%". Is there any way to fix this? I would get a refund, but I bought it a while ago. [link] [comments]
Android games without progress Posted: 11 Jan 2020 12:29 PM PST Too often when I play a mobile game, I feel like I'm always trying to accomplish something, or get something done - whether that's unlocking something, leveling up, solving a series of puzzles, etc. I miss the feeling of gaming without trying to derive some feeling of accomplishment from it. One game I'm playing right now that's a good example of this is Zen Mode in Alto's Odyssey. I'm not collecting coins, earning levels, or anything like that - I'm just cruising through a peaceful landscape, and I'm enjoying the ride. Is anyone aware of any other games like this, hopefully relaxing or peaceful ones, that are all about just the experience of playing the game? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
