Android Questions: Make Bluetooth automatic pairing less aggressive

Android Questions: Make Bluetooth automatic pairing less aggressive

Make Bluetooth automatic pairing less aggressive

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 03:40 AM PST

Basically, I have a pair of wireless earbuds that I use on my phone, but also on all my other devices, such as my PC,... But, when trying to pair it to my computer, as Windows isn't as aggressive with Bluetooth pairing as my phone, my Bluetooth earbuds connect to my phone instead, and I have to go pick up my phone and disable Bluetooth from it to use them on my PC. (First world problem, I know)

So I was wondering if there would be a way (native or 3rd party) to make it so that it only automatically pairs when the phone is unlocked for example ?

    More info :

    • Android 9
    • Phone : Honor 9 Lite
    • EMUI version : 9.1.0

Are there any Android phones not made in China?

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 12:06 AM PST

Trying to be more conscious about where my money goes, but I'm not sure about what my limited options are.

And of course it doesn't stop at China. Trying to avoid phones with any footprint of abuse.

I have a Motorola e4 phone with Android 7.1.1. It keeps giving me an Authentication error every time I connect to my iPhone 11 WiFi hotspot. All other devices work on it. All other WiFis work on the Moto phone also. Configured it with static option instead of dhcp and same thing.

    Two Spotifys One Google

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 10:48 AM PST

This is my situation. I have a few minis around the house to make up the home's bluetooth speaker system. I have roommates who have their own spotify (as do I) but whenever they ask Google Mini to play music they play it off my account. I could be at the gym, in my room, in my car and the music stops... How do I fix / solve this issue? The google minis are mine just to clarify it this is an issue.

Google play servers are the same?

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 08:11 AM PST

Are google play servers the same. Like for example, the contents of google play store in asia is the same in google play europe. Or is the ratings of the app same. For example maybe in asia Facebook has a rating of 4.1. Would that rating would be the same to other continents?

    Artifacts in wallpaper

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 10:11 AM PST

Using this photo as wallpaper (android 9, Samsung a50) gives the wallpaper artifacts in the sky when turning on my screen. After unlocking it goes away after a few seconds, and if I turn the screen off and on in a few seconds there are no artifacts. However they are back after a few minutes of a black screen and turning it on again.

Anyone know why? And if there is anything to solve this? This is the only picture that has thus problem.

Apps showing 0 B used storage

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 10:06 AM PST

Hey there. I'm using a Xiaomi Mi 9 running the latest global stock ROM (11.0.3) and I noticed a weird issue today. Basically I wanted to clear the data for one app and when I opened it in settings, the button to clear it was unselectable. I also noticed that the used storage for the app is 0 B, which is obviously not correct. Now I saw that all the apps available on the app list display a 0 B used storage, and therefore I can't clear cache/data for any app. Here's how it basically looks like.

I read somewhere that there recently was a chrome bug hiding app data. I tried uninstalling chrome and android system webview but it didn't help.

Anyone encountered this problem and solved it somehow?

    Google Photos restore

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 12:08 AM PST

Deleting a Facebook app, I inadvertently deleted some memes I've saved, so I tried to learn how to restore photos in case something more important disappear. Those photos were backed up to Google photos, there is not a multiple download possibility so I downloaded some photos one by one to a folder... But now I see in Google photos the old photo (shown as a "remote only" photo, with the item to download it) AND the downloaded photo, shown again in the date of today.

Isn't there a way to just "restore" items from Google photos, to the location they were previously? This is a bit disappointing, since this seems made to force people to use cloud only... I like automated cloud backups, but I still like a local copy...

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018), Samsung Knox says phone is rooted when it's not a d never had been

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 05:03 PM PST

So, I got this phone back in 2018 late summer and had no issues since not too long ago (a few days ago) when It became really laggy and even factory reseting didn't work so I reflashed an original firmware from a website called something like sammobile and everything went smoothly until I tried to use secure folder and Samsung pay, it said my phone is rooted, to make this clear I have never used root on this phone before, not even custom ROMs, I just want to see if there is any way to get Samsung Knox features back?

(PS I have used two root checker apps to see if my phone is rooted and both said it's not)

    Thanks

Looking for an alternative to TeamViewer for remote control of my desktop.

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 02:03 PM PST

I used TeamViewer a bunch to remote into my PC for a bunch of random purposes, from controlling whatever is chromecasting to grabbing files. Recently, they kicked me off for "commerical use" and upheld it after I emailed suppprt, which is absurd. It feels like they just want to kick off any users that aren't paying even if it's all personal use, but regardless, now I'm left without a remote control software. Does anyone have any android to PC software that they like?

Phone is a Pixel running Android 10.

Lost access to phone after gboard update

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 11:38 PM PST

This presents a unique and frustrating challenge in my case because not only do I not have a google account linked with the phone to remotely update the gboard, but my model of phone also can't be rooted or unlocked, so no flashing roms.

I also can't enter recovery mode (says 'no command') and the OTG adapter I bought for an external keyboard doesn't work with the phone. I'm also pretty sure that my phone is in MTP mode, preventing me from using adb install to install an alternate keyboard app. At this point, I probably need an exploit to install and run a new keyboard apk, and I was wondering if anyone here could point me in the right direction?

edit: Nm, figured out the no command issue: https://invidio.us/watch?v=YNgnfOS7tWg

Transferring app data from one phone to another via computer

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 11:12 PM PST

If I'm posting in a wrong subbreddit, please redirect me to a more suitable one. So I'm interested in knowing on how to transfer this one particular app's data to another phone. I'm transferring from Samsung Galaxy neo5 I think, to moto g4. The app data I want to transfer is Live Portrait Maker, in particular the sims I created. I connected the phones via computer but I can't figure out, where to put what among all the folders of cache and data so that my sim creations would show up in the app on another phone. Maybe someone could download this app, create a sim, so there would be some data and try to transfer it via computer and show me how it's done?

Notifications not updating unless app is opened

    Posted: 23 Dec 2019 05:10 AM PST

The stock messanger, FB messenger, Snapchat and a few others will not pull up notifications unless the app is opened.

Background data isn't restricted for each app. I'm at a loss for what to try next.

    Any suggestions?

How to enable upload/download arrows in status bar (Wi-Fi & data) for Pie

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 08:01 PM PST

I just switched to a phone running Android 9. The old Android (Galaxy S6) showed up and down arrows in the status bar that flashed when sending or receiving data from the Wi-Fi network or the cell tower.

That was really handy (especially when not on an unlimited data plan).

Is there a way to enable those arrows in the status bar on Android Pie?

Note 10 too cold to charge

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 06:51 PM PST

I've had my note 10 since September and it's been great but last night I went to plug it in and it came up with a notification saying my phones temperature was too low and charging would resume when it was warm enough. I contacted samsung support and they had me do a cache partition wipe which fixed the issue temporarily. When I went to charge later on today it went back to the too cold notification. Any advice or other troubleshooting tips before I have to drive over an hour to have a certified tech look into it?

I've tried 4 different cords and ports including the original, turning the device off and attempting to charge that way, and of course the classic restart.
