Is there any way to run old windows games ( Fallout) on android that still works in 2019? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 07:07 AM PST Happy new year everyone! ( in advance) Its 2019. Phones have become so powerful, you can run ps2 games on em... Im trying to play fallout 1 /2 on my oneplus 7 pro. The only 2 options are either Dosbox and limbo. Both are no longer supported ( i think). The problem is that im not a programmer, and i have no experience in dos, and its a confusing fecking mess. I've watched many vids, read guides on how to do it, but none works. Also, guides are confusing as hell. They all just simply and vaguely say " get the game from your pc" But they don't say what file format should i use, and the biggest question: the game should be windows game? or dos? Cuz its 2 different. Anyway i got the dos version downloaded, i put it in my download/fallout folder. I can enter the fallout folder in dosbox using the cd command, but when i type in to run fallout.exe it just say its illegal command. I try dir fallout exe or cd fallout exe, capitalized letters, i rename it in case its too long, but nothing. I can't get this shit to work. Limbo is not supported, its pretty shitty. I tried to run 95 and dos on it, none works. Theres always some glitch or problem... My question is, isn't there a SIMPLE windows/dos emulator i could run? Just like any old emulator like ppsspp or psx? Just select the game and run no stupid coding? Also, ive read on a 2 yr old reddit post ppl recommending exagear, but that is no longer available. Also, ppl recommend wine, but that one also doesnt work, because for some reason i cannot get it to recognize my internal storage, and im unable to get into my files to run anything. UPDATE GUYS: So after fucking around with many different codes and versions of the game, i have finally managed to run the game, but still unable to play. I leave the half solution here, and ill get back here once i can fully run the game. So first off, you gotta get the dos version of the game which you can easily google its the first site... Then get the game folder, rename it to something short like fo, put it inside the emulated folder. In my exprience the deeper/ more folder you put the game, the harder to get it to run. So just simply put it to your phone directory. THEN you gotta open dosbox and go to SETTINGS then go to DOSBOX SETTINGS and then scroll down to AUTOEXEC click on it and then select the game folder whatever you named it. This will eliminate the pain in the ass of going inside directories with codes. Once done, restart the app to take effect. Then you gotta type: c: and press enter this will bring into the directory then type: dir this will list all the files and then you can run the exe by typing its name, in this case its called: fallout.exe This is where i got stuck. The dos runs it, but then stops and says failed to locate master.dat file. Which is bullshit because it is right next to fallout.exe, in the same folder. This leads me to think its a problem with the emulator. Im gonna try downloading the magic dosbox app and see if that works better. Will come back. [link] [comments] |
Most Developer Settings Keep Resetting (Galaxy Note 9) Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:07 AM PST Hello. For whatever reason most of my developer settings keep resetting, notably "Aggressive Wifi/Cell hangover". As said, some don't reset also. Some that aren't resetting are "Show Bluetooth Devices without names" and my UI animation scale settings, for example. Not sure what I can do about it. My phone isn't rooted as to not void warranty. My phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (N960U) If anyone has any tips, I'd greatly appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
Why do USB-C cables suddenly stop carrying their full current? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:09 PM PST So, I have about a dozen third-party USB-A to USB-C cables from the same batch. They're spread around three or four different chargers, all of which are good for 2.1 or 2.3 A. Every so often, one of the cables will start charging much more slowly than usual, at which point I replace it with another one from the same batch. I've never had one not charge at all or have a poor connection or loose fitting, they just suddenly stop carrying their full current. Doesn't matter which charger they're plugged into including my PC. My question is: what exactly is breaking inside these cables that is causing this behavior? Is there a resistor or something in them that tells the charger whether or not the cable can carry the full two amps? [link] [comments] |
Issue with Android file transfer not syncing to my phone (music) Posted: 30 Dec 2019 10:26 AM PST I hope y'all can help me. In my music I have albums I created called Singles (part 1, 2, etc.) I decided to do a revamp and re-organise my music. What I did to do this was (if this helps): -I would copy/paste the songs from Android File transfer to my desktop (macOS mojave) -I would then create folders on the desktop (based on genre) and move the songs into their respective folders -I would then move the folders from the desktop to Android file transfer and delete the singles part 1,2, etc. folders The issue is that the genre'd folder show in AFT but when I go on google music it still shows the part 1,2,tc. ones. I tried restarting my phone, syncing music, turning my phone on/off, reconnecting to AFT, reinstalling AFT but it doesn't change. The weird thing on AFT it still shows the genre'd singles and none of the parts ones. but this not reflected on my phone. However, when I add a song to my phone that does reflect. Does this have something to do with my method of adding the songs? None of the songs are bought from the play store but are downloaded. Before I moved them from my itunes folder in finder. Phone is S10e. Latest update Thanks for any help! [link] [comments] |

Is there a way to remove a Google (Chrome) URL suggestion for a very long URL? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:56 AM PST I don't know if I accidentally clicked on it at some point or something, but the default "g" result (normally google.com) is now a very long spam link and I want to remove it from Chrome's suggestions. When I hold down on it though, instead of showing the link with remove options below as is typical, the entire screen is just filled with part of the link and no removal options like so. I assume this issue is because the URL is too long to be displayed. Is there any workaround for this? [link] [comments] |
Huge Battery drain after upgrade Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:54 AM PST Hi, Two days ago my Samsung Galaxy s10e decided to do a software update. It's now running Android 10, and since then the battery drain is much higher than usual. Before that, I would drain the battery over the span of half a day or so, from 7h to about 21h with moderate usage. Now, in the same time span, it drains it a bit more with noticeably less usage. Anyone else has that? Any solution? [link] [comments] |
Large Portion of Storage Under Other (Note8) Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:47 AM PST My wife has a Samsung Galaxy Note8 and recently got a message on Xmas that her storage was all full. This is not unexpected with the amount of photos and videos she takes of our family. I used the optimize feature and it really didnt make any room so she deleted approx. 3000 pictures. She was able to take about 100 new photos before it said full again. I did a storage analysis and almost 62 GB of here phone storage is occupied under Other. Has anyone else seen this? If so, any tips on how to clear some room? [link] [comments] |
First time using an android, question about account Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:37 AM PST Can phone contacts see what google account I use/ What that google account's name is? I have 2 accounts, 1 for personal use (Memes, Video-Games, etc), and one for more professional appearance (Family, School, Jobs, Friends, etc) I'd rather use my personal account that features my online alias, but I really don't want my phone contacts to be aware of my personal account, as they likely wouldn't approve/agree with what I do in my spare time (different political views and wouldn't want any future employers to see the memes I make). So, will they see my personal account's alias or email or anything like that? Or should I just use my professional account if I'm so concerned? [link] [comments] |

How can I best take depth of field video? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 10:39 AM PST I'm looking to start doing videos using high depth of field for interviews for my business website. I'd prefer to take the video using a smart-phone. What's the best way to do that? Can any of the Google phones do that right now? Are there any add-on lenses that will give me a good effect, or will they not give me the professionalism I'm looking for? [link] [comments] |
Is it safe to watch videos on facebook messenger? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 10:30 AM PST Hi Guys, I received a video file on messenger on my android phone from some guy I don't know. It was a playable file that I clicked play and watched - some Christmas wishes (it was not a link, did't redirect me anywhere, didn't download anything, didn't want any logins etc). Then I started worrying if that was safe and started searching the internet. A lot of info about messenger viruses, but all of them mention it's a link, not a file. I scanned my phone with few antiviruses, reviewed my facebook logged in devices, then changed password to facebook. It seems nothing happened and it was a simple mistake - he probably wanted to send it to someone else, but this thought that I could get some malware/virus is still in my head. Could you please help me and confirm it's not possible to be "infected" this way? :) [link] [comments] |

Will USB DAC work plug and play on android Q ? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 09:41 AM PST I just bought a USB DAC and i spent last few days to find a workaround for it to work on android Pie, because the "Audio source" option is gone for god knows why. I was going to downgrade to Oreo but all of the link for the Oreo Custom Rom is already disabled by devs. Luckily i found a way to make it work but only with my music player, it still doesn't make a sound on other app. And it have some serious problem with the volume too, so I'm stil trying to look for alternative. Does anyone tried using a USB DAC on android Q ? Does it work plug and play ? 'cos I've confirmed the "Audio source" option is still missing in android Q. I just want to use this darn thing man. FYI my phone is Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, there's no option for OTG connection or whatsoever. [link] [comments] |

New phone refuses to recognize local music library. Posted: 30 Dec 2019 09:13 AM PST I have my music collection on my phone's internal drive. It's in the music folder, organized into folders by artist. Neither Phonograph or Shuttle+ recognizes it. I've been up and down the settings and nothing seems to work. The library started out on the SD card, but after trying everything to get the phone to see the music on the card I decided to try moving it to the phone's internal storage. That fixed nothing, but it's there so I may as well leave it there. What do I have to do to get this damned thing to see the music collection my old phone had no trouble with? I'm not moving the files out of their folders. That wasn't necessary before and I'm not doing it now. I'll start over from scratch before I go through that bullshit. There are hundreds of folders in there. Thank you for your time and your help! [link] [comments] |
My Galaxy S9+ crashes when trying to turn off airplane mode Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:52 AM PST Basically the title, I have almost no cell service at work or home so I keep airplane mode on so I can text over wifi. The problem is when I dont have wifi or want to use wifi sharing. As soon as i press the airplane mode button to turn it off my phone locks up. Some times it'll reset and I'll have to login again, other times it will completely restart. Theres about a 25% chance it'll actually turn off airplane mode too. This all started after the most recent software update. Also I have Verizon if that makes a difference. [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth controller mapped incorrectly after update Posted: 30 Dec 2019 04:51 AM PST I got my phone (Samsung A70) about 2 months ago, and my bluetooth controller worked fine. A few weeks ago i got an android update, and suddenly it just worked awful. The right stick doesn't work, the buttons aren't mapped correctly and sometimes it randomly does something while i didn't press anything. Is this a known problem, and is it fixable? Change behavior of "Current Application" button Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:35 AM PST Let's say you have 2 apps open and you want to close the current app which is open at the moment. You use the "Current Application" button ( the 3 lines) and what happens next bothers me. The current app which was open shifts to the right and the second app is now in focus, however I want to close the app which was just open. To do so I need to swipe up on the right side of the phone, but my habit tells me to swipe in the middle and I always close the second app. Is there a way to change that, so the current used app stays in focus when I use the "Current Application" Button? Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
Disable Bluetooth Auto-Connect Posted: 30 Dec 2019 02:34 AM PST Hello, I'm struggling to keep BT working as intended. Have a Logitech BT adapter connected to my AV Receiver, which in general works fine.Problem is, my mobile always auto connects to this device, and all audio is send to there. Now I don't want this always connected, but every time I dosconnect the device, it automatically reconnects a few seconds later. How can I disable Bluetooth Auto Connect, and have it only connected when I manually select it? Best would be to select this per device. There's no option on the Galaxy S10 and HTC 10, some Apps I tryed didn't do anything and Google isn't helpful at all :( Thanks [link] [comments] |
Animation speed scaling without developer options Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:23 AM PST I've recently changed jobs and setting up an Android work profile and corporate email requires Developer Mode to be entirely disabled as part of the Enterprise security policy. Disabling Developer Mode however sets the animation speed scale of my S10 back to 1x, which feels insanely sluggish after getting used to .5x. Are there any work arounds or other methods of enforcing the animation scale without developer mode or root enabled on my phone? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 05:56 AM PST I reset my lenovo tab 10 today and while trying to set it up it asked me to sign into a Google account synced with that device. I would have except I competley forgot the password and I have no links to that account. Fairly silly on my half there. So is there any way I can bypass it. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to transfer my iTunes music to an Android device for an offline experience? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:55 AM PST I'm able to transfer my music (files & folders) to an SD card, but that's all I can do. Playlists don't transfer over. I tried downloading musicbee and having it copy my iTunes library there to sync it to an Android device and that doesn't work either. It's buggy. I don't want to stream or use Google play music at all. I want an offline experience. So far the music apps I've tried to manage my playlists are Poweramp and blackplayer. They don't recognize musicbee playlist syncing. If there is a solution for that in sure it'll be buggy too since I've been visiting forums and reading about horrible experiences with musicbee and syncing. At this point I'm willing to drag & drop my music folder to an SD card, manually recreate my playlists, and do it through the phone. With that said if I were to do it the ignorant /persistent way, does this mean that I can now transfer that SD card around different Android devices and it would work now that I cut iTunes out of the equation? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 05:13 AM PST Anyone ever found a reliable bug free way to hide the status bar for all apps? I see this referenced as "immersive mode"... I'm amazed that this isn't already a system toggle. [link] [comments] |
Any opinions on Realme Buds Air? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 04:21 AM PST So recently I saw the Realme buds air which are TWS Earphones and cost around $56, and I also wanted to buy myself new Earphones. As the tech community is growing and new trends are coming, I am really interested in these TWS Earphones as they don't cost too much like the airpods. I was considering Airpods in the beginning but I realised that My K20/Mi 9T won't get the same audio quality because how discriminative apple is. I even saw the Oneplus bullets and Galaxy buds but Galaxy buds are also discriminative and only give good sound quality on Samsung Smartphones. But,I as a Xiaomi user, to match the ecosystem, searched for their TWS Earphones, and didn't find any good ones. And when I stumbled upon these Tws Earphones, I was astonished. The price point was so low and they literally looked like the airpods. So, should I buy these and will they work the same on a Mi Smartphone? Or are do they only give good audio performance on Realme devices. Please reply. [link] [comments] |
