From lineageos 16 to stock Moto G5

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:56 AM PST

Hi all, Since my fingerprint sensor doesn't work I am trying to go back to stock rom (I found out that you have to be on android 8.1 official, untouched and then install leneage 16). I have also learned that you have to flash the exact same version of stock rom that you had prior upgrading. I have searched for it everywhere but it doesn't seem to exist. Mine is npp25.137-33.12. Can I flash another version? As I understand, since I live in EU I need to find RETEU version?

Is the RCS Chat Features in Android Messages compatible the Advanced Messaging in Samsung Messages?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:21 AM PST

I believe the features are supposed be the same. My concern is because Samsung has it's own messaging app (which I prefer in multiple ways), will it work with Android messages?

If I send a text in Samsung Messages with Advanced messaging to my friend with Android messages who has chat enabled, will all the new features (high res pics, read receipts, etc) work for the both of us???

I have a US Snapdragon Galaxy S9 on AT&T, if that that information is relevant the question

WTF is wrong with my GS9+? Play Store won't download - GMail attachments won't download - No Messages notifications.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 09:05 AM PST

I have a factory-unlocked Galaxy S9+ (SM-G965U1) running on Mint Mobile. Unrooted, stock ROM and all that, fully updated. My primary account on the device is a GSuite account.

A month or two back, I noticed the following:

    • Play Store apps take forever to install. I will either get a "Waiting for Download" spinner, or it will download to 99%, then it waits for sometimes hours before installing.

    • GMail attachments will not load

    • Google Messages send/receives fine, but does not show notifications for new messages. Samsung Messages works fine.

There were a couple other issues along the way, but I am not sure if they were related. I researched and tried everything I found and could think of: disabling/removing apps, force stopping, cache/data clearing, wiping cache partition, removing unused accounts. None of it worked.

Out of desperation, I went through the painful process of a factory reset. I did not restore from backup, instead re-installing only what I needed, one app at a time. All was well, for less than half a day. I woke up this morning, and those exact same problems had returned. Does anyone have any clue what could be going on here? I'm about to throw this thing out the window.

    Memory Card Sizes on Android

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 02:34 AM PST

I have a Samsung A7 2017 that has a listed max of 256GB supported external memory (micro SD card). Now I have purchased an ADATA 128GB card (because it was cheap), but it doesn't work properly and sometimes becomes slow. Is my phone the problem or should I get a smaller micro SD card?

Does this product exist? Remote Controls /Input Devices for Android Phones.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:23 AM PST

I am looking for a wireless remote for an android phone that has all three home buttons, standard media controls, and some means of acting like a mouse on the android screen. The Roku/Fire remotes and VR headset remotes are pretty close to what I want, but I want them for use with an Android phone. Currently the Pixel 2xl, but probably some other android phone soon.

All I have been able to find are very basic media controls. That's fine, but I want to be able to switch apps, thumbs up, and more. None of the devices I've found do this.

Ive got mounts for my Desk and Car that place my phone in a great viewing location, but one that is hard to interface with.

    Any suggestions?

Should I get a new mobile after 3+ years of usage?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:16 AM PST

Hi! Yesterday, I got an android.process.acore error that kept popping up, it happened 3 weeks after it first happened and when I have had to hard reset the phone. I thought that the mobile is done, and so I bought a new one (Motorola G7 Power), but today I've discovered a discussion where the suggest to uninstall Facebook to get rid of the android.process.acore error, and voila, the mobile phone is working again. My current phone is Lenovo P1ma40 and tbf it's working well even though it's over 3 years old, and I don't use phones much so I don't need anything special. My concern is, do I keep the Lenovo or dump it for the new Motorola? I'm afraid that the Lenovo will die sooner rather than later... Thanks for any opinions on this!

How to confirm if I need to replace my battery? Note 8

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:37 AM PST

My note 8 used to get 48 hours with minimal use and over 24 hours with normal use (If I fell asleep with the phone at 50% I would wake up with it at like, 47%) and now the phone seems to barely last 8 hours with normal use. I can't trust falling asleep without the phone plugged in as it's died on me overnight a few times this month. I've had the phone 1.5 years and I don't know if this is normal. I've wondered if there are apps that could bog it down so I've been deleting recent apps but not much improvement. Are there any apps that can target help me with this before I try factory reset?

Motorola Moto E4+ - Alarm clock not triggering

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:48 AM PST

So sometimes (very rarely) when I set an alarm on my phone it doesn't trigger at all.

Now it could be that I instinctively turn it off while I'm half asleep and forget I do that, but I'm pretty sure I've caught it once when I woke up before an alarm and it didn't trigger at all. I don't think I even got the notification usually shown a few minutes before an alarm, but sure enough it was enabled and set to the right time in the alarm menu.

This happened around 5 times in the last few months, which lead me to missing school days and, while I was sick recently, not taking antibiotics I should've been - so it's an issue I'd like solved or I may just need to buy a new phone.

Xiaomi mi max 2 battery Percentage dropping fast, any help?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:32 AM PST

    Hello,

I've a roughly 2 year old Xiaomi mi max 2, never any issues until today. I went to bed with the phone unplugged at 75 percent. I awoke to find the phone turned off and when I turned it on it was at 1 percent. I charged the phone to 73 percent and it was at 53 percent in my breast pocket when I went for a meal. I looked at it after the meal, again turned off and when turned on it was at 10 percent. I've attached battery usage below, anyone experience similar or have a solution? Is the battery just at the end of its life? I can upload any other info if required.

    Thank you

Help needed regarding Telegram notification on Palm phone.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 05:31 AM PST

    Hi,

I am using 3.3 inch Palm phone (pvg100), which is powered by Oreo, as a standalone phone.

I am trying to install Telegram and receive notification from the app but failed.

I set that Telegram is not battery optimized, notification enabled (urgent priority), but it only gives me notifications when the app is opened and running. Closing app, notifications gone too. I entered developer mode and monitored running apps, and found that services from Telegram did not stay in background when the app was closed or screen was off. Other messaging app (Kakaotalk) is working well with excluded from battery optimization.

Can you help me fixing this? Friends complaint that I don't answer them on Telegram...

How can I disable screen blanking while calling?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 07:25 AM PST

I have Nokia 7 plus with Android 9.

When I make a call, it blanks the screen. When I move the phone, it usually brings screen back, but if I dviate from some position - it blanks it again. Or perhaps it's because it detects my hand near?

Anyway - I'd like to disable this (mis)feature. Is there any way to do it? I found many sites/vides about doing it, but all were for older androids or some custom things on android, so I don't seem to have the options that these things mention. Specifically - search in settings for "smart screen" or "proximity" doesn't return anything.

Note 9 - Change lock screen PIN button size?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 07:29 AM PST

The Note 9 has a huge screen. And very stupidly if you set the security to PIN the keys are very small compared to the screen which makes it much easier to enter the wrong PIN.

Is there a way to customize the button size to take up more of the screen, or to download another PIN unlock screen? When I try and search this I just get apps to change what shows up on my lock screen, but nothing to change the way the lock screen works. I know that Samsung's lock screen is not the android default, as the default uses the extra space of large screens.

How safe is the "Charge connected device" USB mode setting?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 07:05 AM PST

So... let's assume that my phone is currently connected to my PC in PTP mode. Then I want to switch to MTP mode, but I accidentally chose the "Charge connected device" mode.

Will it cause any damage to the phone, the PC, or both? I mean... to my understanding, if the phone set to that mode, both the phone and the PC will charge each other.

If it won't cause any damage, what will happen anyway?

How do you set up wired game pads with android?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 06:24 AM PST

Hi, I have a Galaxy S10 with ATT and i'm trying to use a wired controller via a double headed USB C cable like someone suggested. For some reason when I plug the controller into my phone, my phone just charges it and won't let me switch device control to my phone. I tried googling this and came up with nothing. I bought an iHome adapter with hdmi and usb c and it still doesn't work. Do I need to buy a OTG specific adapter or can I just use any that have the proper ports? I want to be able to play stuff wired since I have too many issues with bluetooth. Would be awesome if someone could answer my questions and help me out. Thanks in advance!

Help: I cannot sign into the Google account associated with my old phone because it is my university Gmail that has since been deleted!

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 06:24 AM PST

    Hi guys,

If this is in the wrong forum, please suggest other/better subreddits.

I have an infuriating problem - I recently broke my phone so I'm trying to use an old Motorola E3. I managed to do a factory reset by holding down the Power + Toggle Down button but now it is asking for me to sign in using the synched email address previously registered with this phone. This was my university .ac.uk email address which they deleted once I graduated.

I've clicked 'Forgot my email?' and entered the code sent to my back up Hotmail address, but it is still coming up with the message "Verify your account with your Google Account... This device was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synched on this device."

I also tried to sign in using my telephone number, only to be presented with a sign in option for another Gmail account I have. Once I sign into that, I'm back on the "This device was reset" message and option to add my synched email account.

It's crazy-making! Would appreciate your advice.
