Device has been rooted without my knowledge

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 03:00 AM PST

Hi so I was trying to log onto Santander online banking app and it said I cant use it because my device has been rooted. I had no idea what this meant so did some research. However I havent intentionally rooted my android phone, not have I downloaded any apps recently that arent official (I only use the basic apps like FB, whatsapp etc). So i'm really confused. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this?

Google Messages won't send/receive MMS unless WiFi is turned off (Samsung Note 8/Sprint)

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 10:10 AM PST

I want to use Google Messages because I just bought a Chromebook and having text integration would be amazing--However, whenever I try to send/download a MMS, it fails. The stock messenger has zero issues with handling MMS. I've tried a lot of the solutions found online and nothing seems to work. I tried turning off WiFi calling, I allowed all the permissions, and unrestricted data/battery usage for the app. I was in the beta program and left, thinking that might be the issue. Nothing.

The only thing that seems to allow MMS to be sent/received is if I turn off WiFi completely.

I'm going to reset the network settings later tonight to see if that does anything, but I'm out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Prevent sideloaded apps from updating

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 05:48 AM PST

Android 9, Note 10 plus. I sideloaded an app, I don't want to get automatically updated. Still, if I open play store I find it enlisted amongst my app. But it is not into my library (my apps), for I sideloaded it via apk. Play store would like it to update and I don't want to, I would like to keep auto update on for apps I downloaded through the store and not the sideloaded ones. Any way? Thank you.

    Clean Android

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 05:51 AM PST

    Hi to everyone,

I own a Xiaomi Mi 9 and I would like to know if there is a way to acquire root rights to be able to uninstall all the Google apps (except for the Play Store) and all the Xiaomi apps preinstalled by default, without having to necessarily flash the device with a custom ROM. In short, I just wish I could have a "clean" Android.

    Way to bypass recording limits?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 05:45 AM PST

I want to be able to record pretty long videos on my phone, for reference I am using a Moto G7 Plus. From my experience, and what I have just found online trying to search for an answer to no avail, at 4K I can get about 1- minutes, and at 1080p I can get about 30 minutes.

I am looking to be able to record with no limit, and was hoping to find help doing this. If this is not possible without root (for some crazy reason) Then is there a way or an app that will break up long videos into shorter ones that I can piece together later? For example if an app could record at 4K for 10 minutes, and then start another recording without me having to go about rerecording every 10 minutes, even if they are saved as seperate videos that is fine, Ill put them together later on my computer.

    Thank you for any help!

Wireless charger for Amazing Note 9

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 12:20 PM PST

    Hi guys,

This question is about wireless charging vs wired charging for my note 9 phone, using this charger

    https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-RAVPower-Qi-Certified-Charging-Compatible/dp/B074QK9XKL

I am aware that wireless charging is typically slower than wired charging. However I bought a "Fast charge" Ravpower Wireless Charging Pad Stand, and it takes around 4 Horus tu charge from 10 to 90%. With the cable it takes 2h though.

Why would they write fast charge on it?

Failed to mount '/data' (No such process) on Factory Rest from TWRP

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 11:12 AM PST

    TWRP version: 3.0

Device: Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus (vince)

When trying to delete data, so i can reinstall with custom ROM, TWRP doesn't let me Factory Reset or any of the kind.

On Format Data window i get a prompt to enter 'yes' to continue but still 'Unable to mount storage'

Currently i don't have accsess to any of my files so i don't care if they are going to be removed as long as i can flash HavocOS with Magisk and maybe minor Gapps

This happened on bootloop while trying to install edxposed but never really got into booting in the OS (DotOS)

Apparently no one knows what this symbol means!

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 10:59 AM PST

I got a call from someone I know that "rang" only for a split second. The call log shows the normal missed call symbol and a square/ rectangle with a red arrow poonting to the center. Good ol' Goog didn't seem to have the answer, at least not how I searched it.

Sideloading Error 21 Signature Verification Failed

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 10:41 AM PST

Title says it all. I've read that it's because the bootloader is locked so I won't be able to flash the whole image. But if I unlock the bootloader, won't that wipe all my data?

Can't find any options to encrypt my Android Pie Samsung phone. Any solutions?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 10:23 AM PST

I have a Samsung Galaxy A20 phone running on Android Pie 9.0. The problem is, I have combed through the menus but I can't find any option for encrypting all the contents of the phone.

That seems like a basic and essential security feature that is not present.

I don't want to root or flash, I am looking for a simple solution. Any suggestions?

Otter + pop symmetry cases for Samsung Galaxy?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 10:01 AM PST

Has anything been released on when and if Galaxy will be getting these cases? I've had my eye on them for a while and would love to get one for my S10+ eventually. I know they have the defender series out, but would like something a bit less chunky

Buying a new phone and need help.

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 09:44 AM PST

I already know the phone I'm getting. Just waiting for Black Friday to get a good price on it.

What I want to know is what is the most effective method of transferring my apps and data.

Both phones are LG, so is LG backup a viable option?

    Is using GoogleDrive an option?

Is there an app that would do a better job?

Is there a way to use a PC?

Wireless keyboard+mouse/trackpad for Android + Windows

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 07:59 AM PST

    Hi,

I am looking for a keyboard+mouse/trackpad combo that has the following properties

    • Preferable it has separate mouse and keyboard, but if there are no such products, keyboard with a trackpad might also do the job
    • Bluetooth connection
    • Works on Android and Windows (Able to connect both keyboard and mouse/trackpad at the same time)
    • Linux support would be nice but not required
    • Reliable connection without missed keystrokes
    • Costs less that 50 euros
    • More or less full size keyboard
    • Good battery life helps but not required

    What are my options?

Is there any website that has a list of Android App Package names or is there an app that can print my installed app packages to a text-file?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 01:22 AM PST

I need a list of the package names for Android apps, is there something like that? For the Reddit app for example the package name is com.reddit.frontpage.

I know I can get them in the settings looking under "Installed Apps" but I hoped there would be a pre-made list/database already so I don't have to go through my apps one by one. Or maybe an app that scans all apps on my phone and prints the installed package names to a text-file.

I want to do this because I'm making my own lockscreen with Kustom Lock and I want notifications to display an app icon with the notification. To make this compatible with all languages I have the icons named after the package name, so for example com.reddit.frontpage.png though I have to rename all the icons manually and having to look up the names one by one is pretty tedious.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Can I get a better battery than I already have

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 02:46 AM PST

Hello everybody its my first post on this subreddit so please no hate.
I have a samsung s3 (I know bad but its all I got) and its battery is REALLY bad (its battery is something called a 2100mAh Capacity 3.8V 7.98Wh Li-ion Battery for anybody who wants to know) and I saw that there was a higher wattage battery (like a 9.0 instead of a 7.98Wh) Is it possible for me to get a bigger wattage battery that I can replace my current battery with?

Google Contacts on Samsung Note 9

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 05:53 AM PST

Hi everybody, I'm having an issue whereby I'm able to see that I have contacts in Google Contacts on the web browser but not on my phone.

I'm trying to sync it to my Note 9 but on the phone, it shows that there's 0 contacts in my Google account. I've downloaded the Google Contacts app as well but to no avail, it states that "No contacts in this account".

Anybody know how to solve this? Thank you.

Best replacement OS for S6 Edge?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 11:51 PM PST

Phone's over 4 years old and slow with really shitty battery life. Someone recommended lineageOS but seems like it's no longer officially supported for my phone.

(Sorry, don't have any experience with this, so no idea what other info I need to provide.)
